LINKS BELOW IN DESCRIPTION. Whether you are wiring a race car, drift car, a Jeep, or a dedicated off road vehicle, the 12-gang / 12 button switch used in this video is a great way to power your accessories. It should be the same wiring style for the 6-gang / 6 button switch and the 8-gang / 8 button switch. This switch is sold by a company called CoLight, and if you understand how it works, you can wire up nearly any auxiliary Light Bar or accessory in your car or truck that you want.
In this video, we wired:
- Lights
- Turn Signals
- Horn
- Power Window Motor
- Starter
- 4 and 5 Pin Relays
- Fuel Pump
- Door Lock Actuator
- Electric Cooling Fan
- Circuit Breaker
Hopefully this video helps you wire your project car, race car or off road truck successfully!

Love your videos man. I have a 1988 jeep YJ that I'm going to completely rewire myself. It's the old 4.2 carbureted engine. Would you entertain doing a video about how to plan out a wiring harness? Which items to put on each circuit, what to run on relays vs just a fuse, wire types you'd recommend etc?

Thank you so much for the interesting experiment and informative video. The SwitchPro recommends the use of relays for motors and other equipment where inductive loads are expected. I guess they are concerned about the inrush current duration and back EMF of an inductive load damaging the MOSFETs. I am also trying to simplify my car wiring with gang switches, but keep adding relays to the schematic!

Please make a video on Dual Alternators. Scenario 1: Alternators are paired together (parallel 12 volts). Typical work truck / emergency vehicle Scenario 2: Alternators are wired separately. The first alternator powers the vehicle like normal. The second alternator powers the accessories (Think deep cycle batteries) to power amps and sub woofers, or off road accessories like a winch, or electric PTO. Please use a GM 3-wire alternator in both scenarios. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Love the videos!

At 4:20, if the output provides constant + and switches the -, then it is not a "negative trigger" system. The trigger is what the switch (pushbutton) does when hit, and that does not matter to us. Using a relay to now switch the OUTPUT to cut the positive is not changing to a different "trigger". Otherwise, great explanation.

I'm in the process of restoring an 86 Mustang which your videos have helped immensely with however the blower motor resistor according to my mechanic is the only thing stopping my heating system from working and we have been unable to find the replacement part since the company that made it no longer produces it. Is there a simple fix that I am not seeing or do I really need to replace the entire system? Thank you!

Hi I know this video was made a long time ago bit hopefully you could help with a quick question of mine... I have the same 12 buttom switch and I am looking to hook a volvo fan to it. It very powerful and when first turned on spikes to 70ish amps then drops down to just under 30amps. How would you recommend wiring this? Will it work one of the 30amp outputs with a 70amp relays. And what guage wire would you recommend? Thanks and great videos!
@phildonington5520
@phildonington5520 Месяц назад
Question for the starter circuit. Or others wired the same. As the two positives to the relay share the fuse. But the earth's go to different places. Does the fuse still apply to both the circuit to the relay and the other side of the relay. Meaning there is no need for a fuse on the other circuit? I hope that makes sense. Reading up a circuit should have a fuse on both sides of a relay but in this case the fuse is being shared as both positive feeds are from the same starting point. I'm doing a kit car which is negative earth and as such due to that I need 7 relays. Shame. But I like the switchgear.
@Nmyoutube821
@Nmyoutube821 Год назад
lets say you are powering your headlights and have a 30a fuse. you are taking power directly from the battery which is significantly more amps. the wire from the battery to the fuse is getting x amount of amps and only letting 30 through to the lights. does the battery to fuse wire overheat?

a 'CHALLENGE'!: Show a way to trigger an accessory at any preset RPM. It has to be adjustable. Has to have a range between 1,000 to 5,000rpm (or higher). Has to work with a 12 volt system. Has to be able to at least handle up to 30 amps. When below the selected rpm it should shut off and when at or above the set rpm it should allow power to pass to any desired accessory.

Amazing video, so go I actually bought one for the build of my race car. I do have a question though.....I was intending to wire my car with 7 core trailer wire. My question is this, do I need to ground everything through the fuse box or can I ground (for example) the rear lights grounded to the body and the live into the fuel box will it still work or do I need to run a ground back to the fuse box for every circuit? Thanks
@WiringRescue
@WiringRescue Год назад
Unfortunately, the way that this box is designed, you have to run the ground for each circuit, because the ground is the actual trigger wire. You can swap the triggers from negative to positive, as I did with the starter in this video, but it would be a lot of extra wires if you have to do that for every circuit!

I would like to know if Relays can be wired in a way that there is a delay between each on in a series. I'd like to use a 'HALLS' Magnetic Switch to turn on other devices when it reaches a specific RPM, but I don't want the total load to all turn on at once, I'd like a delay between each device. Will having one Relay turning on another Relay, turning on a 3rd Relay allow the load to not all come at once? [EDIT] I did find Delay On and Delay Off Relays. They already exist.

Then each strobe pack has its own positive as a trigger. I'd like to run just the positives to this switch panel since the lightbar will be grounded anyway. You said this switches on the groundside. would that still work for the way I want to connect it?

Unfortunately this switch is probably not the best option for what you want to do because it switches ground circuits. Never seen a fuse do that. There are many different types of fuses. Some are "faster than other at blowing. Some are slow blow and even timed. The ATO used in automobiles must be on slower side.

Yeah! It was really strange. Now I want to test the zombie fuse to see how much amperage it can handle!

@@WiringRescue I am wondering why you didn't use a relay on the fuel pump circuit correct me if I am wrong but most fuel pump circuits have a relay, is it because it's ground trigger?

They can keep there PDM crap. They brake down or stop working your screwed. With mechanical relays and out in the middle of nowhere you can do a quick fix with very basic toold and get home.
