The best hike for views of the Matterhorn mountain in Zermatt, Switzerland. This was a magical day for us in Switzerland.

We researched heavily for a hike in Zermatt, Switzerland that would give us epic views of the Matterhorn and didn't find much that impressed us on the popular blog posts. Thankfully we eventually came across this one, because it was a highlight of our entire trip to Switzerland.
Perhaps one of the coolest aspects of this hike is that about 3 miles into the uphill climb there is a small hotel that serves warm apple pie and fruit tea. It is the only building in sight, plopped right in a bowl of mountains. The owner is extremely nice and the pie was spectacular.
After this pit stop and a few more miles of uphill grind it's almost like you can reach out and touch the Matterhorn. The views get increasingly picturesque and the peak of the hike is a dream-like spot for lunch.
