Meditation is good for our mental hygiene, and combining it with an outdoor walk in a natural setting is even better! Meditation and walking are both simple and effective ways to reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance well-being.
In this guided meditation, Guillaume Tremblay, a nurse practitioner at The Royal’s Brockville Mental Health Centre, brings listeners on a walking meditation to help relax, calm busy minds, and appreciate the moment. Walking meditation is a great way to practice mindfulness and connect with our body and our surroundings; it can be done almost anywhere, along a quiet residential street, in a neighborhood park, or in a wooded area.
Please stay aware at all times! Make sure your headphones are at a reasonable volume and heed all traffic laws.
If it’s easier, walking meditation can also be done indoors at home or at work. Just imagine yourself walking in a favourite place. No matter where you are, each step is a gentle reminder to remain present.
Allow yourself to let go of stress with each step as you connect with the ground, the rhythm of your breathing, and the sensation of your body in motion. Through gentle prompts and encouragement, you'll learn to cultivate mindfulness and awareness in every aspect of your walk. Once you learn these techniques you can take them anywhere.
Whether you're seeking solace from the hustle and bustle of daily life or simply craving a few mindful moments, this guided walking meditation offers a sanctuary for both mind and body.
