Looks like a great product when you purchase all the options. For more than $3k, I’d expect it to come with ladder brackets, suitable ladder steps, Velcro straps, support pole, comfy mattress, enough clips to keep it closed. It just seems like there are a lot of extra items needed to make the tent work as desired.
they all options mate : ) take one item for example, the roof bars.. first they were not included, then we included them in the price.. but not everyone wants them.. some do some don't .. not everyone wants every extra, that's why it's a choice.. we decided to include the roof bars as standard because the brackets are timecomsuming and tricky to fit, so was better factory fitted.. but most of the options listed are 'our' options/ improvements, not wild lands, so can't get them 'from factory' .. we always trying to make a good product better. but if we included every option built into the price, people would be paying for things they didn't want or need.. that's why it's an option .. L
@@DriftaCamping4WD Totally understand Luke, I like your products, hope you didn't think I was having a go. It was more of an observation in relation to the small velcro tabs, clamps to keep the RTT closed and comfy mattress. These are things that I think would be included, that 99% of customers would want. Cheers Mate
@@wfripp hi warren, yeah no worries.. some of these things I've only just thought of : ) always happy to listen anyway : ) we make many many changes all the time , because of feedback.. often you don't see it, it just happens.. all the time.. : ) L
I watched Tyler’s video last night. I bought a 1.2 in January this yr. I own a Ford Territory, & had to stay under the 2 metre height due to car parking. I did look at the Motop but went with the Drifta as I own a lot of Drifta bags, & I can’t fault your ladies on the phones if I need a question or to order something up. Also too I live in Cairns, & the ventilation is fantastic up here. I didn’t get the mattress upgrade but I’m calling past Brisbane in Dec so I’m going to get some gear put aside for me for when I call past, I love the ladder holder as that’s the one thing I’m not a fan off now as it gets caught on the tent. Honestly a fantastic product, & at a good price. I love your quality guys, & your staff are very friendly as well 👍👍
Brilliant RTT and agree about the ladder plates which change the angle and are easy to install. I've covered them in croc anti-slip tape. The black alloy roof does get very hot folded down so my plan is to put a solar panel on top. You can get white vinyl but really put solar up or buy white in the first place. Eggshell foam mattress upgrade made all the difference. I found the Gosford unit easy to get to and the staff pleasant and helpful. Ladder brackets look interesting, I don't like them sticking out but they're probably ok.
Awesome vid Luke keep it up mate don’t worry about the silly little comments keep up what u guys do at drifta Can’t wait to get the next project done (draws) can’t wait to order them
I have been impressed with the RTT, used it on a Cape York trip recently, handles most condition well and is well thought out. It does suffer from letting the cold in when reaching colder temps but a 12v blanket will fix that. I used nutserts to mount maxtrax and solar on top, the shell has two layers with a membrane between them. The gaps in the corners is a great way to get a dedicated power source to the tent and having no wires exposed when closed. I find the ladder hooks over my kings awning well with a 270 on the otherside.
Hey mate, I was one of the lucky ones in the first orders of the rtt to receive it. It has been perfect and so easy to put up and down. I cannot fault it. Cheers: 0urlux👍
Ha ha ha must be lockdown causing the weird comments eh? Great vid detailing the product plus all your tips and mods. Always entertaining and well produced👍👍✌️
Hi, I got one RTT like this one. It is good. But the door is driving me crazy, due the the position of the zipper starting from the bottom then going to the top you need to fully open the zipper to get in the tent. By the time you get in the tent, all the mozzies in 20 m radius got inside your tent before you. Any option to readjust the door? Or add a smaller door? Inside the main door installing a zipper coming from the top the to the bottom? So you are able to open just a part in the middle of the zipper which would be in the bottom and get inside without mozzies
Hi Luke, Really enjoying your videos. Is the blanket from Waverley Mills the pure wool or the upcycled adventure blanket? Keep up the great work. I was in your Brisbane shop the other day and it’s great to see so many Aussie made products. Cheers Tom
Is drifter going to make one with thicker walls for colder climates like the high country or is weight of canvas make it too heavy ? Thanks for the vid 👍👍Yes I watched Tyler’s review 👍.I would still buy one for my trailer build.🇦🇺👍
The ladder treads are a brilliant idea!! It's the single, most common complaint of mine and my wife regarding our roof top tent. I just tried looking for them on your website and couldn't find them. I may not have searched the correct keywords. Are they listed or will be listed for sale soon? Great video. Great gear, great Aussie company for many years. Two thumbs up!!
thx mate , they listed under rtt accessories . or ask live messenger on the site jake can show u . let me know how they go for u . in stock atm too : ) L
Hey Luke. Just wanted to let you know that I used the ladder with the treads this weekend past, and Wow!! They are bloody amazing!! I wouldn't have thought it would make that much of a difference, but it is absolutely a game changer. Never will I dread the late night toilet trip again, getting up and down on the ladder is bloody effortless and painless now. Thank you for an amazing product.
Just sold a Camp King roof tent (which was great apart from weight) because it's too heavy for my Y62. Have considered the Drifta tent, but a few things I don't like. Firstly why do the doors open from the top ?, all the mozzies get in when accessing the tent. Secondly the dust appears to get in around the bottom. Any updates planned ?. On another point I've noticed a lot of manufacturers of all sizes are taking the position "take it or leave it" and aren't interested in listening to customers feedback regarding improvements. Sounds a lot like a large car company.
mozzies get in ? I'm pretty sure if you unzip the door to get in, whether it's zipped from the top or bottom, they will get in ? I've had rtt's zipped from both top and bottom.. Hannibal tents were all zipped from top. both have advantages, but the way it is is much better.. for one, you can leave the top open and no one can see in, and also if the top is open a bit, less chance of rain getting in.. dust doesn't really get inside the tent.. the 'no floor' has many advantages which I talked about.. we've made many improvements to this tent, and offered many many options / choices to make it suit what people want.. I don't think you can say we offering a 'take it or leave it' product.. L
The position of the zipper is TERRIBLE. The tent is great, nearly every thing was well designed, besides the stupid zipper position. Should be a like a C shape we the ends nearly touching on the side, like many hiking tents. I'm still trying to find a solution to mine.
Pretty much everything is Aussie made except the actual roof top tent. I can’t see paying nearly 4 grand for something made in China. Very disappointing
Good value for $... do a bit research what is on the market before you start being very disappointed... btw everything branded Drifta STOCKTON is imported.
@@Schimmel860 last time I checked adventure kings is Chinese made and half the price. The thing I’m disappointed in is that drifta claim to be an all Aussie made products that’s why they are more expensive than other places
@@adamsankey8702 most tents on the market are china made... that is what the market wants but they not all the same quality so you cant say they all should cost the same.. Drifta has been open from the start about the Drifta Stockton brand.... Watch the walkaround video.
Writing from an iPhone made in China. It is funny, you go to drifta and the only things are not drifta Stockton are the basic stuff, made of canvas or wood. Anything else would need more industrial structure to fabricate it is made in China. Just need to realise that it can still be a good product.
