It's a shame really. Although the competition at the time was awesome (Del Pierro, Pirlo, Totti, Zidane, Henry, Bergkamp, Seedorf, Xavi, Nedved, El Phenomeno, Ronaldinho...)
Unscripted With Ali Ansari the season they gave it to Nedved over Henry was criminal. There was even a year Zidanne won it and when the reporter asked “how does it feel to be the best player in the world”, Zidanne responded “you will have to ask Henry”.
I bet when you are older it is Mustafi who kept you still being a gooners, after all he had kept clean sheet in all of the game he had played this season.
Henry was like having a Ballon d'Or striker and a Ballon d'Or offensive midfielder rolled up in one player. He deserved the award more than anyone else during his peak, man was robbed
I believe the year Arsenal was in the UCL final against Barça Cannavora won the ballon d'or and Henry played both final. There is the robb.@@georgeolid2646
What are you smoking? ... it was won by Cannavaro for Juve.. His stats didn't even deserve him in the top 5 let alone winning the thing... Thierry was robbed.@@georgeolid2646
What I love about Henry is that as time goes by, more and more people truly realize how special he was and how he’s truly an all time great. Just consistency and class. Played with such swagger and calmness but can also turn on the burners and be physical. He has curve shots, chipped shots, knuckle balls, power shots. Could do the most complex skills or could keep it simple and just use the space and blow by. He was as good a finisher as he was a passer.
Its not has to do with realizing compare other Times and you will See that no other Times brought that much good Soccer Players out.Henry was one of alot genious Players....no word's best Epoche of football.
To be fair, having watched it just now, I can't disagree. This is something that happens more than most prob know in the beautiful game, diving, handballs etc. Ref's need to be more courageous and get better at their jobs. Even var seems to fail!
The greatest injustice in soccer history was Ronaldo Nazario winning 4 FIFA World Player Of The Year trophies and Thierry Henry winning none. I don't believe Ronaldo ever played at a level high enough to be considered world-class, let alone win the Ballon D'or as the absolute best player. He was a below average player at best and was only relevant for maybe 4 years. Henry on the other hand was absolutely prolific in every way. He deserved to win at least 5 Ballon D'or titles throughout his career. FIFA has no credibility.
Naming yourself a player while playing outside with your friends, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Robinho, van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Cristiano, Tevez, Messi, Eto'o, Sergio ramos, Kaká, figo, Nesta, Drogba, Ballak.. the list was endless. I'm thankful for growing up in the early 2000s
What a complete player.. He can do it all. Finesse touch, long shot, header, free kick, dribbling, speed, physicality, good passes. The king for both goals and assists..

@@stevyb1122 did you forget Ronaldinho at that time...? I loved them both but I think Ronaldinho was bigger in terms of fans.... But no doubt, they sit at the same table...
He said greatest EPL player of all time, even tho Cristiano is greater than Henry, Henry has had so much more impact and longevity in EPL .Ronaldo had one fantastic season, meanwhile Henry was bossing the BPL for 6/7 years
Please make apple to apple comparison. EPL not La Liga. Christiano Ronaldo hardly made enough appearances (compared to Henry), he was already wearing the Real Madrid outfit. This is not a showdown between Manchester United and Arsenal.
He was playing v two of the greatest PL sides of that era, United and Liverpool and absolutely was the dominant player. That's why he was the first player voted in the PL hall of fame.
Nobody come close to ronaldhino except okocha Ronaldhino was football greatest enterneiment Btw okocha was a good skiller too he even was ronaldhino mentor For me okocha better skiler then neymar
I'm a Liverpool fan so not biased at all to Arsenal but Henry is the greatest player to ever play in the Premier League. He was unbelievable. Terrifying for your club to play against but a pleasure to watch play, it was a massive loss for the PL when he left
I'm a Liverpool fan. But Thierry Henry is my idol when I grow up. I always try to copy his style and goal celebration. Best striker in Premier league history hands down.
Now he has the chance to build a new team in Montréal, as a coach for his new career (forget about those Monaco spoiled brats they're not better today) : when you will think Henry, you'll think Montréal ;-)

Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are by far my favorite living football legends, they are the reason I fell in love with football in the first place, they are part of my childhood... Henry should have won at least one or two ballon d'or in the 2003 and 2004 seasons, he was so unique and underrated back then, he was almost unstoppable and genuinely a very good all-rounder authentic player. ☯️✌️
He was great but in those days all the best players were in SA and LL. PL was 3rd or 4th best league in Europe. He flopped with France and he flopped with Arsenal in UCL. Please show some respect to Shevchenko and Nedvêd.
@@andjelkozlotvor You're assuming that Henry isn't in the same category of disscussion as Shevchenko and Nedved then you're really delusional, Henry was far more versatile, and unpredictable than both of them. The stick to bait the Czech Nedved with is his mundane stats compared to Henry’s in 2002/03. Let’s be clear, Henry’s statistics that season border on the simply ludicrous: 24 goals and 20 assists from 37 league games is barely plausible, in fact it’s never been repeated in the Premier League. Henry was involved in over 50% of the Gunners’ 85 league goals that season. Also in 2004, Shevchenko didn’t win more, didn’t score more goals, and contributed less in assists.
@@DavidLucian Henry was efficient, attractive and great but not so great as history revisionists want to teach us. Football is more then mere stats. In those days all the best players were in SA and LL. PL was 3rd or 4th best league in Europe (a farmer’s league, as English kids like to say these days). Henry came to PL just because he wasn’t good enough to play in Juventus, so we could watch all-Italian UCL finals without him on the pitch. He flopped with mighty France so many times in his prime and he flopped regularly with Arsenal in UCL. Yes, he liked to boost stats vs smaller sides but that season (24+20) the guys from United were the champions, if memory serves me well. At his peak, Arsenal couldn’t beat United in 4 consecutive PL seasons! The best player in the world couldn’t afford something like that. He wasn’t even the best French player. The worst Zidane was better than prime Henry. Everyone unbiased knows that. On the other side, Nedvêd was an absolute monster. He could play absolutely everywhere on the pitch (except between the posts). One of the most complete players that world has seen. Sheva was really special and so prolific in the era of the greatest and toughest SA defenders. It was much easier to score in PL those days, not just because SA was the best, but also because of football style and highly demanding tactics. I see that you’re too biased, but disrespecting these legends won’t make him a retroactive “Ballon d’Or” winner. Get over it.
@@andjelkozlotvorI have never seen a more stupid and biased comment in my life, infact you are simply a hater. Mentioning all Henry couldn't accomplish and then mentioning Nedved's strong qualities? Bullshit! Every player has his/her shortcomings, even Ronaldo Dr Lima with his legendary status never won a champions league, it's painful when people talk through their assess, anyways, let me pretend you were simply drunk.
Arsenal’s future is looking bright, unbeaten in the premier league in 2020 and many talents such as Martinelli, Saka, Guendouzi, Pepe and Saliba. Arteta has made a very solid start too, really turned around that atrocious defence...

These were the days. Real football. Such nostalgia, even the kits. That burgundy kit takes me back to buying football boots in JJB’s at the weekend, staying up late to watch Match of The Day on a Saturday night with my old man and my brother. Miss those days man
Watching this video makes me really think that I am getting old. Reminiscing some great days! Coming from a Liverpool fan, I admit not liking arsenal a lot, but Thierry Henry, in my opinion is the best ever Premier league importer. Master of finesse shots.
@@dachivale5319 No, I watched them play together for several seasons. They had a good combination. Henry was better IMO. How good have you witnessed Luis Suarez play for Liverpool ?! Henry was the clean guy of Luis Suarez. Picking up the ball, getting past defenders, deadly & technical. WOW he ran the show in the premier league before Ronaldo came along.

There was just so many other good players, I'm not against what your saying but it was tough back in the days to decide who was the best, and you couldn't really complain when they picked the winner since who was picked was a great player in that time too
In his prime he was majestic. That combination of speed and technique made him the best striker on the planet at the time. Without question the greatest ever Premier League player.
A con artist. I lost complete respect for him after he blatantly controlled the ball with his hand vs Ireland. An absolute shitebag. And Evra offering the replay on PlayStation? Absolute wanker.
The only player who can be better than him is king KUN, i think he is the best foreign player to ever play in the Premier League......Though Henry is a joy to watch too
One of the absolute finest strikers to grace the premier league. We had Ruud, who was an absolute predator in the box, but Henry (with all due respect to Ruud) had it all. He played with pure passion for the sport, and expressed himself with his feet. To think he came to Arsenal as a winger and it was Wenger who saw his potential as a striker, and the rest is history. Pace, control, skill, flair, precision finishing and an incredible eye for a pass. People forget that he scored many hat-tricks but ALSO in those matches he would setup goals as well, and it wasn’t unusual for Arsenal to score 5 or 6 sometimes in a match, largely due to him but also the fluidity of Arsenals team then. Their Untouchables team, who went the season unbeaten would’ve beaten any premier league team in history at their finest time. Massive respect from a United fan.
I started watching football when I was 4-5 yr old just because I saw Henry playing for Arsenal. The day he was gone, I haven't watched football since. Arsenal isn't just that game anymore. Van Persie gave me a little hope but no one can ever emulate Henry ❤️
@@Abhi-lf1un Yeah i know it was a reply to @Mirza who said Henry is by far the most elegant football player. I would say Zidane and Herny are the most elegant players.
Robin Van Persie is just as clinical!. RVP legit never misses. Like don't take this as literal. I'm trying to say the dude is a really clinical fuckin striker. With amazing technique
(For me) Messi will always be the most mesmerizing #2 to ever play the game; Thierry Henry was THE reason I watched the game religiously during a phase of my life, the #1 guy. Ever. The complete player. There will never be another Henry #14
He should have won it in 2004...he was the outstanding player of the year....but the Ballon d'Or is voted for by France Football, made up of French Journalists and because French national team crashed out of Euro 2004, the voters didn't reward a French player out of spite.
One of my favorite footballers of all time, so much class, flair and passion for the beautiful game. He is the reason I fell in love wit the number 14 shirt. Thanks you “Titi Henry”
My best memory of Henry was how he just flew passed defenders it was magical especially alongside his assist king Dennis Bergkamp. Total football was re-born.
Wow he reminds me of Ronaldo. Different demeanors and Henry more elegant and graceful in some ways, Ronaldo more technical and dominant in others. But like yeah for sure Henry is one of the greatest footballers in the class of Messi and Ronaldo
Back when I loved Arsenal despite being a United fan. Man those golden years🔥. We always had something outrageous to talk about each game when this man played. One of the most brutal and sneakiest striker of all time. Thierry Henry🔥
I miss those times where u have powerhouse teams and u know they will beat the small ones and have epic games against strongnones. Today they are inconsistent, u lost players that ready to fight for ur team, there is no sense of pride, u only have those girly looking players that are more intrested in amount of gel in their hair.
Exactly. There is a really small amount of players today that would just take the ball from his half and just slalom down to score. In some weird coincidence, this is exact type of game that Wenger imposed to Arsenal (because they were more skillful than most of the clubs back then (Foreign Legion,as that generation was called)) where they just stopped to shoot from the distance, but trying to walk with the ball into the goal. After Henry and Bergkamp left the club, they had a bit of a good run with Van Persey but when he was transferred to ManU due to Wengers' obvious lack of interest to compete seriously, everything came down like a pile of bricks.
He made me fall in love with football. Was such a joy watching him on the ball. Bossed the defenders at will. He's the best player never to have won the balon d'or.
I feel so blessed to witness Thierry Henry as I was growing up as an arsenal fan and even see him score a goal in person when I travelled to Crystal Palace. He brought so much to the game and inspired so many. My idol 👏🏻
When I see Mbappé today it reminds me of Henry, but Henry was on another level. Totally different era of football, but the skills he could pull out were so insane, and to have the temperance to do it in derbies and stuff is what makes you a real champ. Henry is the nearest thing I could think of a football playmaker, he had that NBA MVP kind of solo technical ability that made the field look half as large, he always chose to go against opponents to do the craziest shit than to play in wide spaces. At that time France had the most elegant, technical and spectacular players in the world, probably even more than Brazil. Also, that era of british football is hands down the best ever. So underrated.
Henry played in 9 finals in his career and never scored in any of them , Mbappe has already scored in a World Cup Final leaving Henry in his dust at 22.. And if you wanna use an NBA MVP analogy , going missing in the finals must be taken into account. He was through on goal in the 2006 fina twice and blew it. Luxury player , beautiful to watch at times , but on the biggest stage went quiet. Thierry Henry away record in big PL games In his 8 seasons: Henry scored once at Old Trafford (in a 6-1 loss) Scored once at Anfield. Scored twice at Stamford Bridge (both pre Abramovich era)
@@kanedasrifle laughable comment. You can’t judge someone on ‘9 finals’ and just because they didn’t score. He was immense in some of those games, 2006 he played alone in the Barca half and caused them havoc. He captained and lead a weak, inexperienced arsenal team to the final that year. Henry blitzed teams apart in the majority of games. Those were teams in the premier league and champions league. 2 goals away at a top inter Milan team and one of the best solo goals of all time against the Madrid Galacticos as well as a hatrick against Roma all spring to mind. If he didn’t score many against ‘big prem’ teams away then that maybe said more about Arsenal than him. John Terry, Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand all said they had sleepless nights before facing Henry, he was the best striker they ever faced. Notice how you had to narrow it down to a very small amount of games to call Henry a ‘luxury player’.. pathetic. The fact he didn’t score in those finals no doubt takes a little shine off of what could’ve been, but by that I mean he could’ve gone down as best striker of all time. Now people argue players like Van Basten and R9 have a superior legacy. Mesut Ozil is a luxury player, Riquelme was luxury, Thierry Henry? Get a grip! By your logic Divok Origi is a better player because he scores in finals
