I don't understand why people don't include him in the conversation as the greatest of all time. I know he wasn't an out and out goal scorer but for me he is in the GOAT conversation.
My list goes like this- Messi, Pele, Maradona, Zizou and C.Ronaldo, Ronaldo N., Ronaldinho. You can throw in your Cruyoff and Beckenbauer in there too.
@@JustN0tMe That‘s not what he meant. Casemiro said, when Zidane trained with his Real Madrid squad (CR7, Benzema, Bale, Ramos…), he was still a better player than all of them. That‘s certainly not the case with Pep, Mou or any other manager.
@@JustN0tMe seriously doubt Mourinho was ever the best player in any training session, he wasn't even a professional footballer. Or did you just reply to the comment without reading it properly.
Out of all the greats, I have never seen a player so calm, not in a hurry but completely outclass with simple moves and out of this world ball control. This is still unique player in the history of the football.
@@norpriest521 none of the modern kids would rate him top 5 which is tragic. it also explains why most of the modern kids get destroyed by old guys despite how tactically better the game is now. they all know what theyre supposed to do. none of them can dribble out of a pinch though. far less can beat multiple defenders with a pass. the game is almost scripted at this point.
Not only an absolute pillar of my all-time dream team, but also the most classical and elegant footballer ever and the purest definition of a maestro on the pitch. Unreal talent, divine technique, immeasurable intelligence, extraordinary ability to improvise and colossal decision-making power make Zidane a unique and incomparable player. Magician, genius!
It's more than elegance. Almost every single time his touch, technique or vision created an advantage or a chance for his team that no ordinary player could. He is my favorite player of all time along with R9 and Maradona.
@@markdavis7397 he would have 2 ballons d'or and 2 world cups had things gone different . Proves he's a man of honor but with rash decision making. A regrettable mistake
I guess so too. He's still great back in 2006 when i watch World Cup. Absurd that France wasn't a favorite by many pundits or football fans because they think Zidane & Co. Is too old. Yet, they almost beat my favorite team by getting early lead in finals 👍
The way he glides past defenders is unique. He doesn't have the pace but his simple skills that are executed to perfection used to unbalance the defenders and than made it look easy even though he wasn't fast
I love these kinds of highlights without music and cheap effects. Also as a long time Zidane fan there are many scenes I've never seen. Thank you for this. This is beautiful.
His football style was not only genius and precise, it was always beautiful to watch. Its like a form of art. He really dances with the ball and is a faster thinker than any of the opponents. I could watch him play for hours and hours. Absolutely amazing!
im 40 and have been football fan for a long time and i can assure you Zidane is THE MOST elegant & unique player ever on a football pitch. his moves and tricks are so simple yet elegant and very effective
The most complete player ever . Fluid went past players like a stream around a rock. He knew what opponents would do before they did the way he could move the ball between both feet and take it past 3 player within a square metre. Many players have better stats but none had Zidanes pure ability his first touch was second to none how ever he received the ball he would somehow have it under control and ready for next touch. Every other player on their best day still come second to zidane on his best day. Simply sublime football player.
As a french guy, one of my best football memory (besides the two world cup victories) was the Brazil - France game in 2006. I've watched this game with my grandpa and we were just shocked at Zidane's skills during this game. Zidane will always be my favorite football player.
As an Irish guy, watching Zidane bring France to the Euro 2000 finals and returning from retirement to bring them to the 2006 World Cup final were my favourite football memories (besides Ireland making it out of the group stages in 2002 of course). He was/is my favourite player of all time. He brought magic.
I was few years old when he was in his prime so I don't remeber his era. But when I look at the compilations like that one - wow. I wish I could watch him right now as he looks so unique. His movement - something completely different. He's been moving with such a grace so I cannot even describe it with any words. Pure elegance on the pitch!
Nothing he can’t do literally. Dribbling, assisting, scoring, using both feet, heading the ball and free kick master! This is really what is called a COMPLETE PLAYER.
Zidane's game was so elegant that it felt like time slowed down for him when he got even close to the ball. And then every move and every touch was calculated and executed with precision.
fluid football poetry, Zidane was fearless, an artist on the pitch. his tactical awareness IMO is almost unmatched. he knew how to put the players off balance, create space, either run into it or draw the opposition to create that space for team mates. They dont make em like that anymore. Zidane and Gerrard are my two favourite midfielders.
The way he controlled games with his touch is unreal. Zidane never did anything unnecessary with the ball. Every touch was measured and executed with efficiency. He was a true midfield commander
@@OompaL0ompa bergkamp couldn't dribble 3,4 ppl in a time like Zidane that too in a constant basis that is why Zidane is considered as the best Midfielder of all time
Such a finesse and elegance to his stride and first touch. Barely ever the loses the ball, knows when to offload, and when to retain. Master of finding the space and the tight gaps. In my humble opinion, he is one of the best midfielders the game has ever seen. In the period of the noughties, from late nighties, there were few that surpassed his brilliance and talent. Zizou
Zidane was the complete footballer, dribbling, passing, heading, and one of the best free kick takers ever. He didn't hang around the box like a lot of today's players. I've seen a lot of very good players , but for me Zidane had everything.
We don’t think of it often, but when Zidane retired, before Messi and Ronaldo, he was considered the 3rd greatest of all time, just behind Pele and Maradona. What a player!
@@LiamDemorySoccer here in Spain, before Messi and Cristiano, press, media considered him as 5th behind of Maradona, Pelé, Di Stefano and Cruyff and I don't agree. I love Zidane but he's not on the all time top for me.
And although people want to talk about mbappe today as being one of the best in the world, I laugh. He hasn't even reached Zidane's level yet. In Zidane's era, mbappe would have been like any other average player . The only thing he has is speed and a bit of accuracy on goal. That doesn't make a complete player. For me Haaland and mbappe don't even come close to the greats of yesteryears, i e Ronaldo nazario, CR7, Messi, Zidane, Kaka, etc. Today's football focuses so much on scoring goals. But it takes a lot to be a goat.
Your opinion, my opinion or the' medias' opinion does not have any value here. What matters is the opinions of coaches and successful footballers and he is one of the very best of all time according to the vast majority of these. In my opinion he would have won a lot more if it was not for his temper, including a second world cup.
The crown jewel when it came down to ball control. Zizou had a wicked first touch, could easily shift in any direction, precise passing, and his IQ on the pitch was immaculate
Zizou had such a unique way of manipulating the tempo of play as though the ball was elastic at his feet. He wasn't the fastest, but he would stride with this peculiar air of confidence and elegance. He was a natural leader and playmaker, so when he had the ball you just felt at ease. He was the calm *within* the storm. Very few players in all of football history, let alone the current era, make me feel that way. He was truly special.
Same here .. i only watch zizou highlights and videos don’t know why 😅 though I like messi and Ronaldo but maradona and zidane are such a joy to watch.
He wasn't that fast in a sprint but he was very fast at quick lateral movements and switching from left to right foot to put his opponents off-balance. I would recommend any slow players just work on using both feet and lateral movements like Zidane. He gained so much space with these techniques.
Zidane was the most "artistic", the most enjoyable to watch and he was always here on big games (unlike like Messi, R9, CR7...) which make him stands next to Pele and Maradona but Ronaldinho, he is just the best player of all times, he had everything (technical, physical, speed...) and he won everything at a very young age, football was really too easy for him.
The very first clip is a work of art. The way he picked the ball from the air to set himself up for the beautiful finish, at the same time sending the defender out of the screen.. Poetry in motion
Include Neymar there. Actually no playr can match Neymar and Ronaldinho's beautiful football skills. Even the two GOATs (Messi&Ronaldo7) can agree with me
Wow he does things I haven't seen other greats do. Imagine if there were two players on the same team with similar Zidane skills. They'd be able to tear through defenses.
Elegance, panache, deadly efficiency, accurate passes, one-touch lay-offs, nasty free kicks, super headers, you name it, Zizou had it in his bag of tricks. One of the best to ever grace the game!
@@YoYoFunPlay haha I kinda miss the old rat squad of Italy with Zambrotta's and Materazzi's, there's not really that much flair in world football right now like that
He was so damn good at giving himself acres of space with a single touch of the ball whenever he was marked in a tight space. So creative and always one step ahead. I miss watching him play
He was so calm in possession. I don’t think anyone comes close to him in that aspect of the game. There are better strikers, better passers of the ball, there are faster players, but not a single player on the planet has ever been able to calmly rip holes in defensive lines the way he could.
He was the ultimate midfield playmaker maestro. He would "unravel" a very complicated position and release the ball to a team mate in a good position even when you thought it was unlikely. Magnificent player.
This is exactly what he would do, its hard to explain to people who didn't watch him play. All these people comparing him to Berbatov cannot have seen them both enough.
it's not just the perfect execution that impresses, it's just the winning idea of doing certain things that makes you understand that Zinedune Zidane was just from another planet.

An absolute wizard. His technical prowess and class weren't just for show, his talents had an impact in any game he played and his trophy collection proves it.
He did all this at the highest level as well. It wasn't against relegation teams in weak leagues or whipping boys. If I had to choose between Messi, Ronaldo or Zidane in my fantasy team I would pick Zidane.
Awwww please capture my favorite when he, with his back to the opposing side take a high ball on the chest whiles turning in midair. Use the tihigh to control it then make his move. He is the only one I have seen do that.

He had such a physical presence too. Very unique and unusual for such a powerful guy to move with the ball with such speed and grace at the same time. In this respect he was (and still) in a class of his own.
@@oceaneaveline6278 Lol, no way. Ronaldinho was mighty inconsistent throughout his career, barring two years, Also Zidane had better ball-control, bigger passing range, was physically stronger, and had better dribbling ability. Ronnie was glamorous, entertaining, and yes had so-called "flair"(I don't even understand why is having flair relevant). Had you seen both these players week-in and week-out, you'd know Zidane was the better footballer, and by a good margin.
@@soumyadeepray1272 I disagree with you wholeheartedly. By a clear margin! You have to be trolling. Yes Ronaldinho's Achilles heal was his partying and lack of professionalism. But he was more talented with the ball than Zidane. Ronaldinho was ALWAYS double teamed. As you can see from these Zidane highlights most times Zidane was marked one on one.. Ronaldinho had a larger bag of tricks than Zidane.
People who only start wastching football in Cr-Messi Era have absolutely no idea how GREAT Zidane was. Truly Genius, Pure Baller. For me top 3 GOATS, Messi, Zizou and R9. Aside Pele, CR7. The Great General with most beautiful and pure feet and brain. Truly the GOAT.
I started watching football because of him. Messi’s control comes from his frequent touches, but Zidane with his long legs don’t have high frequency, yet he controls the ball like there’s magic. Every touch is so purposeful and intelligent. Just amazing
