This is was a crazy set! Not often you get to play elite players like these and get wiped off the court!

Such a nostalgic court for me, played some matches there in juniors/high school, watched many, many UW women/men tennis matches there during both my times at UW. Fun to see such a high quality match uploaded from this court. Also cool to hear you guys mention Matt Anger. I know Andrey's backhand is really amazing, but Coach Anger's 2h backhand is something from a dream. Ahead of his time to have such a beautiful 2h in that era.

I watched Clement play up at Ojai a few weeks ago and his game is a lot of fun to watch. Very flat, driving backhand, good shape on the forehand and his movement is very, very good. He's gotta pump that serve up though to help hold a bit easier.

Great set - Clement's game is really smart and the angles he's creating are off the charts. Curious to hear your thoughts on where you can change/adapt to make it harder to him to score? And also how you set up the camera? Great angle!

I used to love playing on those courts during the endless, rainy Seattle winters. I had a great deal, as I frequently hit with one of the former players on the women’s team, and she got me access pretty much whenever I wanted.

Andrey ur a great player really good to watch u play, definitely one of the higher utr playing levels for people that make videos of themselves playing matches. I watched a few of your matches and just a quick observation- when you would get up you would pull back and stop being aggressive and miss more and let the other player take control the points more. But when you were playing well and got up in the sets you're playing aggressive First Strike tennis and taking control the points early. You honestly could have beaten this guy I mean you were up a break but when you got up you pulled back and then he up this level and started playing more aggressively. I'm a coach who when I played D1 College (@ 10 years ago) was probably like a low 14 utr and probably now I'm probably in mid-12 so just my observations but keep making those videos they're really fun to watch 👍. Oh and when u would get him on the defensive and he would float balls back u kind of waited and let the ball comw to you (allowing him to get back in the point) instead of moving in and making him pay for his weak shot and finishing the point. This dude clement is super fast so the only way to beat him and finish points is to move in and take the short easy balls early (when u would get them), and putthem away and end the point. But obviously easier said than done- that guy clement is auper fast and really solid off both sides really good player. Oh and last thing lol. Against a really fast good mover like clement sometimes the best strategy is to go hard deep right up the middle and jam him taking away his angles and not allowing him to extend- which u actually kind of did the first few games allowing u to get up a break 2-1.

You have very nice backhand. Weight transfer etc. Very fluid

he’s very good. just won the final of glasgow vs paul jubb and played some exquisite shots especially on the forehand and also on the backhand. his down the line shots are really impressive

great video!! when you control the point do you go for more power or depth ?
@andreysmirnov7461

Hard question, mostly depth with decent speed and more importantly moving the opponent rather than letting him stand on the same spot

really interesting story about shapovalov. What are your thoughts about his game? To me his game is incredible unpredictable, sometimes he plays almost perfect and is crushing winners, sometimes he is shanking every backhand and is an UE machine.

bit late of a reply but it was long by like 2 tennis balls, the skid made it look like it was in.

you;re so good man. play more practice matches! always look to move in and take calculated risks. have you been competing lately? I feel like you are a great rally player but your opponent always hits the attacking ball first, so you need to look to create something right away instead of "rallying". Third edit: you have a huge game. attack first!

@@andreysmirnov7461 For sure. He's got a great game. Just crazy how difficult it is to improve at this level, and how slim the margins are. Your strokes look every bit as good as his in most cases... and yet...

Something I saw as a 5.5 myself. I see that you try to roll the backhand and sometimes the forehand too. I'd say just go with it and strike it, like your opponent does. Most of the time you wont have time to impart spin on the ball, and even if you do, it will be a weak shot. I guess it takes a bit of timing and body rotation (use less arms). Just some observations from me, that improved my game and might improve yours.
