This seems like a 20-somethings Xmas activity. I recall going on a Santa pub crawl in my late 20s. About 50 of us, dressed as Santa, roaming through Melbourne’s pubs a week before xmas. I’ll bet it was quite a sight. These days (I’m 40) were much more likely to enjoy some drinks at someone’s house while watching the cricket and eating Xmas food.

City night-life and Christmas will never twine. Us Aussies will want to be with friends or family. Where do we go? The backyard, the beach, the local swimming hole. Depends on your age, really. Don't try to feel Christmassy. Instead, invite your neighbours over for a barbie. Cheers, mate.

I would love a hot Christmas because it's usually deep in the minuses for temperatures and usually lots of snow. Except this year its been a little warmer 2 - 11 degrees for the week of Christmas here in southern Ontario and of course it's calling for rain every day but Christmas day which says sunny. A beach day sounds amazing with shorts and hot temperatures. Merry Christmas Everyone ! 🎄🎄🎅🎅

That`s probable my only pet peeve about Australia, Christmas just doesn't quite feel like Christmas, especially when 35-40c and sweat rolling down your back and in your eyes and the flys (god, the flys are a pain in the arse) and it`s a novelty at first with Christmas in summer but it can where off pretty quick, and i know its just a small thing ( and i don`t watch much Australian tv coss it`s pretty rubbish) but there is no real effort for christmassy tv shows or adverts like you get in the uk, maybe the odd one or two, but that`s it. And thank the lord for TK Max at Christmas, because all the other stores have the same stuff year in, year out. I love Australia do, but when it comes to Christmas it treated a bit of an afterthought.

I for one am so happy Christmas can be be more low key here. I’m not a fan of carols, cheesy decorations, over spending, false Christmas cheer, so much bad taste! Let’s keep it simple folks!
