You’re just fortunate that you can charge the Ev. All those in flats or old Victorian terraced houses with off street parking and no guarantee to park outside your property, without the right infrastructure, EV is set to fail.

Must admit Portsmouths been brilliant as has thousands of charge points in lamp posts for on street parking residents and visitors. Sadly yet again fossil fuel prices are racing up again. Shells gone up 5p a litre in a week. It’s a crazy world. Thanks for your comment Chris. Greatly appreciated. Best wishes.

Set to fail? Tesla probably wouldn't think so, as they produce the World's best selling car, the Model Y. The people who live in flats and terraced houses can't fill up with petrol outside their homes either, yet they don't seem to find it a problem owning petrol cars? Won't ICE cars "fail" once oil runs dry, and petrol gets more difficult to get hold of? After all, Shell have already outlined their plans to cut production of petrol by up to 40% on the lead up to 2030. The details were in Shell's last business report. As you may be aware, very recent legislation dictates that from this point onwards, at least 22% of *all* new cars and vans sold *must* be emissions free. And this sales target is to be increased at set intervals as 2035 approaches. Around 16'000 new chargers were installed during 2023, and the target for this year looks set to be higher still, given the amount of additional funding being provided. A recent RAC study showed that around 65% of UK homes had either a driveway or a dedicated parking place....and around 400'000 UK electric car owners already have their own home chargers. Plus *all* new housing developments must now have provision for EV charging by law.....

@@Brian-om2hh Tesla whilst still world leaders have had to up their game. And now octopus have bought shell charging it opens up a bigger discounted network for us octopus customers. I personally do think ev’s are here to stay as more trucks go to electric and indeed bus networks. However I do feel hydrogen will work alongside it ( technically still an ev) but not in my lifetime. Exciting times ahead I hope. Thank you for your comment and for watching too. Best wishes.

You need to cost in the devaluation of the electric car as the battery health starts to get low. Who is going to give you a reasonable trade in or sale amount when the cost of a battery replacement makes the car a rightoff or are electric vehicles disposable throw away devices?

Batteries like fossil engines will often 90 odd percent of the time out live the car and then will get used for solar batteries as will carry on for eternity at such a low charge rate. However salvage batteries from accidents that are in good condition will hold a good value. Certainly not a throw away concept unlike fossil cars. Thank you for watching. My return to an ev will hopefully happen this year as the costs of running the note are horrid in comparison and I’m polluting the planet too. Best wishes.

Oh dear, another " the battery will need replacing" cry..... Typical battery degradation runs at around 2% per year. It isn't unusual to see a 5 year old EV - particularly a Kia or Hyundai - with a battery state of health of 90% at this age. And just *why* would you "replace" the battery, when a battery pack refurb costs a fraction of replacing it? One UK owner of a 10 year old Nissan Leaf, took his car to Cleveleys Electric Vehicles in Gloucestershire, where they carried out a battery pack refurb. The work took 4 hours, and the cost was £500. Cleveleys posted a video of the refurb on RU-vid, to help quash the ridiculous stories about battery replacements costing the equivalent of an Apollo Moonshot. There is more nonsense posted on the internet about EV batteries, than just about anything else..... Any potential buyer of a used EV can ask the dealer to carry out a battery check. This is done via the car's diagnostic socket, using an OBD device, which can provide a print-out of the battery's SOH (state of health) in percentage terms..... Rarely will a modern EV require a battery pack refurbishment this side of 10+ years old..... Plus, the vast majority of new EV's will be acquired via company or personal leasing or similar, so "devaluation" isn't a concern for the user. ICE cars also "devalue". Get a new £40k Merc or BMW, and see what it's value is in 3 or 4 years......
