Doesn't seem his mother knew what he was about or up to. I'm sure the gun wasn't the mother's or she would be in custody as well. Yes parents nowadays need to be more involved in their kids lives but if the guns not owned by parent then nothing can be done.

Uvalde happened in a conservative state and town, yet the police didn't even do anything and a bunch of children died with a legally purchased weapon. Stop saying we need more guns. Stop saying people should start shooting more into scared and panicking crowds, insisting that somehow they will magically not hit an innocent person. Studies consistently show that more shootings happen in the US than in any other developed country and we have more guns and gun owners. By your logic, all the good guys save people, but in most cases, the police stop them or they kill themselves. In the Aurora Theater shooting their was a "good guy with a gun" he got shot too. Had he started shooting in a dark, crowded theater, more innocent people would have been shot. You are not Rambo. You don't have night vision. You don't shoot better when you are scared and/or drunk. Police officers who have trained for decades still accidentally shoot innocent people with or without night vision goggles.
