Mandai massacre refers to the general massacre of the Bengalis of Mandwi village near Agartala in the Indian state of Tripura on 8 June 1980, by tribal insurgents. According to official figures 255 Bengalis were massacred in Mandai, while foreign presses, independent sources and eyewitnesses put the figure anywhere between 350 and 400.

Those are bangladeshi refugees, who changed the demography of the state.where the indigenous people became minority in their own land. Bangladeshi took over entire administration, political and economical of tripura. If the central government does not take initiative measure it may happen like Manipur. Indigenous people are deprived by the state government in every aspect.

Isn't this a clear case of demographic inversion? Why didn't government do something to curb this? I agree many the Bengalis who came here after 1971 were illegal immigrants & govt. should implement NRC for them. But saying only tribals were natives of Tripura is wrong. Manikya kings administered many Bengali areas & collected taxes from there, & Bengalis who came here before 1971 were mostly from those areas. So kindly stop calling Bengalis who came here during or before 1971 Bangladeshi or illegal immigrants. They are as much Tripurese as you are👍🏻

I never clubbed all Bengalis as bangladeshis. As you can see, 70-80 were Tripuri, while others were general, mostly Bengalis. I should have mentioned that. Yes, NRC should be implemented as soon as possible and all identified either deported or settled in other states.

@@PeterGrinninJust to let you know, the entry fees for Ujjayanta Palace Museum is only 40 rupees. All the coins issued by the Manikya Dynasty had kokborok inscriptions using Bengali script ( little different from modern script, but you can read it ). If you didnt know, the old Tripura Kingdom was twice the size of present Tripura and included many parts of modern day Bangladesh (Cumilla, Noakhali and Chattogram district). The entire trade was with the sultanate of Bengal so obviously your script will be in Bengali. The entire of Europe uses the latin script, what the fuck is the problem if 3 languages (Assamese, Bengali, Kokborok)share the same script? It's funny when some people want to make ADC areas as "Greater Tipraland", without even knowing what Greater means geographically. The Matabari temple issue is something that was done by HC. Bengalis make more sacrifices at Matabari and there's no issue of Buffalo sacrifice with us as it's also done at Durga bari during Nabami. Idk what kind of bullshit news reaches your ears. Criticize the govt on policy, corruption, infrastructure etc which are the real issues for the people. Please don't give bias information. Many Tribals have died too but the government didn't make any records on the death of Tribal people. 1980's Incident was between The Tripura Indians vs The Bangladeshi illegal immigrants but the government took the side of Bangladeshi immigrants. Tribal People residing in Jolabasa, Garjanmura, Madhavbari, panisagar, pecharthal, Danga para , tutamura , melagarh, bishalgarh, etc were slaughtered even the police were accompanying the Bangladeshi immigrants to murder the Tribal people. It was systemic ethnic cleansing.

Having 1971 as cut off for Assam & Tripura we need complete NRC here in north-east & no CAA to keep demographic balance. No Bangladeshi or mayanmarese, Hindu or otherwise should get legal citizenship in the northeast, they can happily go to other states of India except the Northeast. I'm a Tripurese Bengali & my grandparents came here during independence & in my view Bengalis who came here on or before 1971 should be termed legal. The rest are illegal & if they want citizenship through CAA they should get that outside the Northeast, simple.

The report states only 250-300 Bengalis lost their lives and what about Tripuris in Bengali dominated areas in that time those were never counted and never were discussed on how many Tripuris lives were gone? One sides info is not good. Both the communities felt the aftermath but what about the other community who also lost their live no one discuss about it.

Sir, as far as changing of demography is concerned, native people will raise voice and act according to this . This is a natural phenomena . Assam also going towards Tripura's way, although we assamese native peoples don't get violant as much as other tribals of north east India . But changing the demography became a serious issue in ASSAM also since 1971, irrespective of religion, Bangladeshi illegal immigrants are now becoming legal citizen, border should be Seal after the war . How many communities in Tripura speak Kaubru language? Only you people! Here most of the communities speak Kokborok language. Tripuri (Debbarma, Tripura), Jamatiya, Noatia, Halam (Rupini) and some other communities speaking Kokborok language, that's why Kokborok is a state recognised language, not the so called Kaubru. Lol

I am bengali from tripura. My family living hear for more then 120 years. My three generations from my grandfather to me born at tripura. My great grandfather was a royal pandit and came to tripura at 1913. And before that this his father i.e. my great great grandfather joined the royal court of Tripura as a pandit. From last 5 generations we are living here and not some people are saying that the state belong to them only.

But you shouldn't be offended with such issues if you're confident with your generations identity. Tiprasa problem is with recent bengalis from Bangladesh. BJP had swept Tripura snatching the state from the 25 year old LEFT government governed by Manik Sarkar in 2018. Biplab Deb became the chief minister. Due to corruption,administrative deficiencies and high handed governance style he was replaced by Manik saha in 2022 with an eye on 2023 polls. In 2023 BJP came back to power braving the opposition from Congress and the left combine and newly floated tribal outfit tipra motha by former congressman royal scion pradyot.
