16" for battery life and display size 14" for lighter weight and smaller size

I went with the 16 inch M2 Max. I did it for the screen size when I'm working. I don't regret the purchase, and enjoy the battery life.

I've played with both and I have to say that I much prefer the 16". I don't mind the size as long as it fits my backpack and it does. So many advantages to the 16" for me to give up - especially that I've gone M2 Max. It's not even close for me.

16" all the way. In the long run it's less stress on your eyes and the battery life is amazing! 💯

I bought the 14 inch max online and loved it , but was having a little size anxiety and returned n store a day before my return time was up , and here i am loving my 16 inch max but i admit the portability of the 14 definitely is noticeable but the 16 is portable in its own right and its an amazing machine .

I have an Intel 2019 16” MacBook Pro with an Intel I9 and 64 GB of RAM. I wanted to make the jump to Apple silicon and took two weeks to figure out if I wanted to get another 16” or go to the 14”. My decision came down to this. When it came to working away from home I would end up taking my older 2018 15” I7 MacBook Pro and just leaving the 16” at home.- The 15” was just lighter and more compact. When I was at home I had a dual external monitor set up and external speakers and quite frankly never really used the 16” monitor. I did use the processing power of of t,he 16” though. I just ordered the 14” with the M2 Pro Chip 12 core CPU and 19 core GPU with 32GB RAM and1TB drive. The new 14” is more portable than my trusty 15” MacBook Pro and a hell of a lot more powerful than my 19” I9 MacBook Pro. Even at over 2800.00, my new 14” which is supposed to be delivered on Monday, was more than 1,000.00 less than what I paid for back in 2019 for my 16” I9 MacBook Pro. “

To be honest I feel like the 16 inch is worth the performance and the screen relea state. Ik the it’s bigger but I don’t really care about the size the extra performance is totally worth the extra size. That’s just my opinion though.

I have a macbook air 13 inch 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. I find with little things like having two tabs open or running testing software on my computer my fan comes on all the time and it is very annoying apple can't find anything wrong with it. So I'm thinking of upgrading to the MacBook pro m2 16 inch. My reasoning is I won't have to buy another labtop for a very long time but is jumping to something so big overkill?

i think the 14inh because it fits in my stuff and its handy you could bring it everywhere you go and the screen size doesn't always matter too that's my option. keep up with the hard work i love your setups and stuff about. i am a samsung user sadly but you are the best!!!

I don’t have an Ipad so I opted for portability and got a 14”. I haven’t loved a Mac like this since my first one in 2012. Idc if its thicker than the last gen I love the build quality. And it is so fast

I have both. 14in from work and 16in is personal. It’s always hard to decide which one to use. The 16in wins out most days because less eye strain and having a larger track pad.

I have 13 inch MacBooks (2012 and 2016 models) so I got the new 14 inch and I regret it because the screen size is almost the same as the 13 inch displays that I've been using for more than 10 years. I just replaced it with the 16 inch and I feel the difference now.

You guys should know that the 14 inch m2 max is throttled. There are some comparisons and it’s pretty obvious apple had tuned down performance on thr 14 inch version.

I’ve been debating between the 2023 14 inch M2 Pro with 16gb RAM OR the 2021 M1 Max 16 inch with 32gb RAM. I got the M1 Max on sale for $2500 which seems like a steal but I don’t know if I really need all the processing power and I am afraid it will feel too large and bulky to carry around. Such a tough decision though.

I have hard time to decide between brand new MacBook Pro M3 Pro 14 inch with 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD or Refurbished MacBook Pro M2 Pro 16 inch with 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Currently I am using MacBook Pro 16 inch late 2019 on Intel i9 with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. So, I don’t have any issue with portability at all. The indecisive comes from the M2 Pro vs M3 chip and RAM difference between those 2 machines (36GB RAM on M3 Pro vs 32GB RAM on M2 Pro) Which one do you think has better value and better investment protection? Got the 16-inch with M2 Max. It's my first MacBook ever. I thought that it will be heavier, but it's the perfect weight and size for me. Also, I like how cold the laptop is. Finally, I can lay down in bed with my laptop without heating the entire bed.

What specs do you recommend for intense 3d rendering, simulation and CAD with the 14"?

I like the 14 inches size but I want to use unity and unreal engine on it and I don't know if it's going to die from overheating but on the other size the 16 inches has better thermals... What do I do ?

I really don’t like how far back the keyboard is on the 16-inch. It’s great for people that want a big trackpad for editing. The big screen is great but it’s damn heavy. 14-inch MacBook Pro is the most perfect laptop ever made.

if you have apple xdr display than you can go with 14 if portability is the issue. Other than that 16 inch macbook is the way to go. Best display u can look at in most cases.

To prevent excessive heat on my 14" M2 Max, Low Power mode is on when I'm on battery. If I need the "muscle" to do video editing, I'm plugged in.

I am debating between the 14 and the 16 inch MBP M2. I currently have a 2013 15 inch MBP. Its still working well, these machines LAST! But I think I am leaning more towards the 16 for multitasking purposes better battery life, and a more immersive screen. Thoughts?

16-inch all day! There are way too many positives with the larger model than the lesser one. As a matter of fact, I sold my 13-inch M1 for the larger 16-inch, and I have zero regrets.

I’ve bought so many macbooks bc I’ve been so indecisive. Went from 16” Silver -> 14” Space Gray -> 16” Space Gray. 16” Space Gray is my final choice and I love it! (M2 Max)

great talk on sizes, thanks for all that input :) my work may require me to get a new macbook before returning to the usa, and Ive been weighing my options. Im in brazil where there are official apple stores so I can definitely pick one up. I have a 15 inch mbp that I would be replacing. the 14 inch looks so sleak and .. nimble? you could say. but yea the thermals, charging rate and battery difference sound important -- although in my case, Im a software engineer; for work, I don't need the gpu _at all_. 32 gb of ram and a "monster truck" of a cpu is all I need. But, battery life, and charging rate, those matter.

I wanted to like the 14 inch, I'm sure it's a nice laptop but honestly the viewing experience is just better in general on a 16 inch MacBook Pro. I mean how often are you really gonna be outside of your house on a laptop? I mean unless that was like your job, I don't really see a point in getting the 14 inch. I started with a 13 inch MacBook Pro back in 2016 and then in 2020 I got a 16inch MacBook Pro and honestly it's hard to go back to the smaller one, but if I was traveling alot I guess I could still have a use case for it but.... I suppose it just depends on your situation if you are mobile alot and working alot outside of your house.

I will buy the 14" and max out the spec, 16" is too heavy for me, the performance difference is not so significant

Why didn't Apple just stick with 15"?!!!! Would have been a no brainer to replace my 2017 MBP instead of this dilemma!

For the ones who are indecisive as me, I got a 14" (went from 17.3" msi laptop) but I had a 16" intel macbook pro as well from the work and although I'm amazed with the slick design and portability of the 14", it doesnt stand on my lap its literally drops in the middle I need to sit like I'm holding my pee or when I went to the cafe after literally 8 years later owning an msi it felt so cool but after seconds I started doing some after effects work I became the hunchback of the notre dame because it was too small for me. Came home back and started the refund process. I will try the 16" now I hope the weight wouldn't be such a problem will see. If you are not gonna use this powerhouse for editing etc or you are not gonna use the display because you have displays I would stick with the 14" Although I have displays everywhere (at my home, at work) If I'm gonna go to a remote place and struggle with display thats also a turn off. Also I don't know about the 16" but my hands felt very big when I put them on the keyboard at first with 14" but now I get used to it. One small thing as well since the screen is bigger, the camera is higher so it has slightly better angle for meetings, for an engineer who does a lot of unnecessary meetings that was important for me too.

I had the14" for 2 days before I returned it for the 16".
