Another excellent interview. Habs never recovered after Serge Savard left and a long list of incompetent were hired who dismantled the Habs and brought mostly problem players to town. Nice guy Houle and Tremblay were inept. Letting LeClair and Desjardins go was nuts.

That's the best interview i ever watch. The memories, the fun stories, the thing i learn about. Wow! great show.

Great interview. LeClair was one of my favs in Montreal. I remember working at the arcade across from the Forum, LeClair and a bunch of the players would come over after practice and play video games. Great memory. Was so mad when he was trades to the Flyers. The return...was not enough for him and Desjardins. Hall of Famer in my eyes!

I was absolutely furious when John got traded

Class act John. I was fortunate to have watched by sons play hockey tournaments in St Albans. We love Vt it’s like NH but upside down🤛

In 1991 after being drafted by the Quebec Nordiques, Eric Lindros refused (he had warned Quebec at pre-draft interviews) to play for Quebec and demanded to be traded from his draft day on…. He was 6 foot five, 240-pound center with undeniable tenacity, grit, fearlessness and a scoring touch …. He would administer 2 to 5 body checks per game even though he was their main offensive player. In 1992 in order to acquire Eric Lindros from the Quebec Nordiques, the Philadelphia Flyers gave up: - $15 million + two first round draft picks + six players which ended up being - Peter Forsberg, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Chris Simon….

2 overtime goals in the finals. Legend.

I was so upset when they traded John L’éclair to Philly, I loved his work ethic. I never thought he would score 40 goals + in 5 consecutive seasons including 50 goals in three consecutive seasons. Great career John.! Thanks guys for this enjoyable podcast👍

I agree Rejean Houle was not qualified to be a GM with Montreal. Mario Tremblay might have worked out better if he had been groomed as an assistant coach for a few more years first. But the fire sale was indeed sad and the club has never fully recovered.

I also agree that if Cam Neely is in the HOF, John should be too. In general though, I feel that Cam lowered the standard of what it takes to be in the HOF. He had a few good seasons, but lacked longevity and consistency.

I would have liked to hear John talk more about Renberg and Lindros, instead of 3 on 3 hockey with retired players. The Legion of Doom was som much fun to watch. I still miss 'em.
