Had an SRX600 between 1996 and 2001. It took me on my first tour of my life to the High Country in NSW/Victoria, to the Ace Cafe, and round the TT course in 2000. And lots more. My was a poor example of the breed, having been stuffed up by the previous owner....but I loved it and I'd have another tomorrow!!!!
You run out of cornering clearance before you run out of grip on these. And they're so light it can be flicked from side to side so easily. They don't have tremendous power so they teach a rider how to be smooth so they don't lose momentum.
I feel like I am at the arcade sitting on the motorcycle and watching the screen...lol. They only sold for one year here in the US. Mine's red. Nice ride in the country. How fast in mph were you going. That's a really short track. Doesn't allow you to really open up from what I see.
+Norry Terry ---- That's the sweet spot on the bike! Didn't use 5th gear at all I imagine? Aftermarket clip-ons? Any change in front/rear suspension? How difficult was the piston kit? New carb? Mine's totally stock so far. Stock muffler sounds good IMO. They're old and the stuffing gets worn out quick...lol. Whoever had my bike before me did a half-assed attempt at jetting, and the bike suffers with boggy mid-throttle.
+Wabbit1961 Perhaps didn't use 5th gear. Clip-ons are made by battle factory in suzuka Japan. Front fork springs and rear shock are changed into WP. You may be able to install the big bore piston kit but need cylinder modification. Carbs are Keihin FCR w/K&N filters.I have been using them for 15 years,over 30000km w/o heavy maintenance.Very reliable. OEM carbs are so dull even if the jetting is good. I recommend you FCR or TMR or any pumper carbs!
