Butterflies help to spread pollen , the more butterflies the more plants the more plants the more butterflies. unfortunately for farmers the butterfly larvea eat their crops so the farmers use pesticides . the canals create a place where wildlife can thrive but it needs help from mankind. never take it for granted though .

A beautiful vlog Vanessa. The nature shots were a delight, especially all of the cute fluffy young water birds. You managed to see a lot of butterflies too, absolutely lovely to see so many especially so early in the year. Droitwich looks delightful especially the beautifully decorated church. About to start my 5th week in hospital. Your video on the Droitwich Canal brought so much pleasure to me It really has brightened up my day no end So many butterflies BIRDS and insects to see.. The church was so very beautiful. Capped off with the raven and the buzzard - fabulous! Lovely drawing especially the raven. I also loved the yellow wagtail, a favourite bird. I liked to see them on the grey tiles of my roof…..before they moved elsewhere I am afraid.

Thank you for another wonderful journey. All the more interesting as it is part of my life. In late 1983 we moved to Droitwich to open a new pub, "The Pillar of salt" Named after John Corbett as he was known locally by that name for all his good will towards his employees. Happy landings.

This was a particularly poignant vlog as this was my last trip before spinal stenosis forced me to give up boating. It is a beautiful small ring and looks far less congested with reed which only left a narrow channel on that occasion 5 years ago. The salt is utilised in the salt baths in Droitwich which I believe led to the formation of the famous Droitwich Knee Hospital - I was treated there and was amazed at the number of famous personalities who were being treated at the same time. When you get to the end and turn towards Worcester there is a pub with great food - their 'whopper cod' almost defeated me !!

Although Mother Nature is my church I can never give enough credit to the craftspeople who built churches and cathedrals. The artistry and design is mindblowing thinking of the tools that they had to work with. I love the creatures that you find and draw. Have you come across 'The Mouse family that live by the brambles'? Gez is a wildlife photographer who takes amazing photos of the mice who live in his back yard in Yorkshire. Oh Vanessa, Droitwich is simply captivating, with the beautiful reeds along the canal, to the whimsical architecture of its' village. I loved the little Cobbler Shop where I can get a key cut or a shoe re-soled. The statue of the salt worker was quite a find and the swans swimming with their cygnets were simply calming to watch. Thank you so very much for yet another wonderful glimpse in to the beauty that is England, and thank you for the tireless efforts which go into producing such fine, high quality films. Droitwich is such a special, little town and to see all of the lopsided houses and unique shops was such a treat, but for me the wildlife absolutely steals the show and huge credit has to go to those that manage that area for keeping it wild and alive. Hi, Found your VLOG about a week ago and found them all brilliant, so relaxing, knowledgeable, and entertaining, your sketches of Birds and little furry animals is out of this world what an artist I don't know how you even start about such beautiful sketches, you must have done a lot of research to produce such, narrow boating is something I have always dreamed of doing myself but the nearest I got to that was taking a day boat on the Norfolk Broads and getting shouted at for not passing oncoming boats Port to Port lol, hay-oh lol, I think the deciding things for me not getting round to it is although being born in Cleethorpes, Lincs I am a non-swimmer and also like yourself suffer asthma, keep up you wonderful journey and vlogs, now in my 70's its probably not going be an option for me now. Lovely vlog. I went to the brine baths in droitwich years ago, sadly its closed. The community fought to reopen the ,outdoor lido, natural salt water pool. I went weekly swimming there throughout the summer it's so invigorating swimming outdoors and no high chorine to cause red eyes. The church was very interesting. ❤

Your roof top vegetables and flowers looks great. As every week it is such a treat to listen, you are such a great narrator. I seem to be getting a strange unsynced vlog. Wonderful seeming old mills and how some people really do care about our wild life. That is good it is only your boat on the canal. Such research you do every week. How do you find out all these facts? The church definately looks European. Amazing place.

Grateful as always for your weekly offering of beauty, history, poetry and connections with our fellow creatures. The sculpture of the salt worker is magnificent and the Droitwich canal is really a treat. The ceramic work in the church was truly a work of devotion. I loved the Corbeau drawing. I’ve been struggling to get motivated to draw snd sseing how your drawing skills are developing is amazing. My idea was to send you the sketch but I am really lacking in confidence. It is a dead end so a bit of a pfaff when going up the Severn to Stourport is the alternative option with lock keepers doing the work. Especially if you’re renting and have limited time.

Looks like I was wrong about the dead end although I did the Avon - Severn - Sharpness Canal myself in the late noughties before the Droitwich canal was finished in 2011 to join the Worcester - Birmingham Canal. However still locks and bridges galore in all directions.

Hi Sandy, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am learning as I go and making plenty of mistakes along the way when it comes to knowing the names of all of the insects. You ask, where have all the boats gone? Sadly you are only the 4 th u tuber in 5yrs to visit the Droitwich canals, and yet its a great canal, lovely town and packed with history. In my earlier vlogs, I tell viewers that my husband- Mr M, doesn't want to be in the videos as he doesn't use social media and his job wouldn't approve either. My work is online teaching, making these vlogs and I have an Etsy shop so I use social media all the time. I have made a vlog about my work too. I hope that answers your questions. I understand that it might be frustrating not to see who I am travelling with, but I respect my husband's wishes and he respects mine too. Take care🌻🦋

Hi Vanessa: Queen Anne's Lace, Forget-Me-Nots, and lush reeds adorn the banks of the restored Droitwich Barge Canal, the perfect habitat for birds and wildlife. Butterflies and bees, buzzard and ravens; geese and goslings; swans and cynets do soar, paddle, and flutter in the sky and waters. Old salt mills and mosaic-tiled church in Salwarpe.
