When an AI is truly Sentient, I feel like it’s fair to use the Non Binary Term unless they wish to be addressed as something else like he or she if they wish. Saying “it” just feels like calling them an Object regather than a living being. Funny enough, I also say “he” as well.

It's a short little story but it's one if those that hit more than it should. The writing quality in Mass Effect is just that good.

His initial willingness to quit despite knowing what was at stake and his incompetence kept me from feeling sorry for him. He and his dad are overrated!

i feel like that's one of the overarching themes of the series - that the cycle needs to be broken so that people can grow meaningfully. Everyone's been paying for the Leviathans' mistakes every 50,000 years, and in that cycle, other cycles of abuse are perpetrated, such as with the Geth and Quarians

Have you ever romanced Kaiden in ME 1, Thane in ME 2, and got back to Kaiden in ME 3? If so, you will get the opportunity for a, ahem, _very intense_ greating with Thane in the Hospital, on the way to Kaiden. Maybe the only time you're able to get a really angry reaction from Kaiden.

Nah, that'd be shit. ME3 is THE game for main cast members to start dying. If you can save them all, it'd feel cheap and easy, like fan fiction, imo.

​@@JayEm1325 I agree there should be a "best possible" ending, and it should be difficult. But why should the "best" ending be some fantasy where everyone lives? Just don't buy it. And yeah, I know that even a Max Paragon playthrough you lose Ash/Kaidan, Thane, Mordin and Anderson, but seriously...you're fighting the Reapers. The cost should be even greater than what is portrayed in ME3, especially given some of the stupid hand-wavy shit they did in the so-called extended cut. That Normandy rescue is an embarrassing scene and a total misread of what fans were looking for out of the OG ending. Imagine, if you will, a final act on Earth that took a few hours, instead of like one. A grueling battle of attrition, wrestling block after block from the Reapers' control, just to get to that beam. And imagine having to make MULTIPLE choices like you had to make on Virmire. Imagine all your loyalty missions came into play again here, as the attack on Earth is the ULTIMATE Suicide Mission. Some of your crew dies because they're not loyal (like Cortez does). And some just die to give you a chance to progress through the hell that is Reaper London. THAT would feel earned. THAT would hit you in the gut. Though the battle for the Thannix Missiles is pretty intense, especially on high difficulty, it just seems like a breeze compared to the Suicide Mission in ME2, where you and much of your squad can die because of your choices, not just your combat prowess.

@@wilder11 We all wanted this man, stupi EA rushed Bioware so we got fkd on that, its a mriacble the trilogy is as good as it is to be honest.

There's also, of course, whoever you choose to not be the Virmire Survivor, and even if you convince Jack not to assassinate Aresh, it seems unlikely he'd outrun an explosion that size on foot. Maybe he escaped on a shuttle of his own we don't see. Then there's Wreav, technically he can only survive if Wrex dies or isn't recruited in ME1, so sort of like Kaiden/Ashley, it's an either/or. The last one I can think of that has a speaking role is Lilith, who gets turned into goo by the collectors no matter how quickly you head through the Omega 4 Relay.

@@kred792 Yep, also the names of all of the Normandy SR-1 Crewmembers that died with Pressley can be learned by doing the Crash Site mission and finding all the dog tags. They're also listed on the memorial wall. Most of them didn't have speaking roles though. Gianna Parasini's fate is indetermined AFAIK. I can't remember the sources, but I seem to remember some mention of her still being on Illium when the Reapers hit there.

I recently played renegade femshep and romanced Thane, talk about a misery vortex.

A Krogan scientist who's interested in making the Krogan stronger through science rather then brute strength would have fascinating perspectives

@@SereneSimian Not to mention He technically was right, Grunt is easily one of the Strongest Krogan. Not only that, but Grunt is decently intelligent and due to his experiences with Shepard and his crew, is even kinda open minded for a Krogan. Like Okeer's experiment seems like it was a true success.

I was really looking forward to having him on my crew the first time I played. Ah well, at least we got our tank baby.

He's a madman with zero empathy! Plus his idea that the Krogan can live with the genophage is debunked in ME3.

That's because he doesn't always die. If you kill wrex on virmire and sabotage the cure then he doesn't die but goes into hiding.

You’re going to have recruit either Garrus or Wrex. You can’t not chose one I believe

Tali, Liara are going to join either way and if I'm not mistaken one of Garrus or Wrex is a must too, so i don't think that would change

​​@@sultanossi8845 I believe you can turn Garrus away, but Wrex is mandatory to continue the Fist storyline to get Tali and her data to bring to the Council

@@emackenzie One of them is a must, and u can continue Fist's story without Wrex, it has three ways either u recruit Wrex who then kills him, or not recruit Wrex but then u have the choice to either spare or kill Fist, but the story doesnt progress till u atleast have Kaiden, Ashley, Tali(mandatory) and either Garrus or Wrex(or both) then Liara is obviously Mandatory

he does get mentioned again - because if we don't let him get shot by the Geth, then Shep can afterwards talk to Fai Dan about the crazy guy in the tunnels and can ask if there's anything we can do to help the poor fella. this whole entry in the list was just false altogether if i remember correctly. heck, i'm not even sure if a not shot by the Geth Ian might even be amongst the battered survivors you can vist all over the port after the mission concluded, never really payed attention to that.

I think the Virmire Sacrifice is kind of a "might apply, might not" because when talking about Kaidan and Ashley specifically as separate characters, it _is_ possible to save them. On an individual level they don't fit the list. Like Morinth vs Samara, although Morinth dies no matter what in ME3
