The third movie reference is actually based on the scene in Spider-Man (2002), not Spider-Man 2 (2004).

Thanks. It’s impossible for it to reference Spider-Man 2 as they’re both from 2004.

My dad and I love Shrek 2 and he said it’s the best animated movie of all time. As for those movie references, I knew all of them and it’s really cool. Here’s another subtle Temple of Doom reference from the first Shrek movie. When Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona escaped from the dragon, the latter burned the bridge causing it to break, which calls back to Temple of Doom when Indiana Jones breaks the bridge hoping Mola Ram will go to you know where immediately.

OMG I just realized that I'm pretty sure the way Shrek gets on Donkey at 2:12 is also a Lord of the Rings reference to the shot of Legolas getting on his horse the same way.

I think in the factory there's also a reference to Monsters Inc. when they slide down the ceiling hook thing, just noticed that the other day watching this movie for the 1000th time

Also, when Shrek and Puss are fighting, Puss bursts out of Shrek's shirt, referencing the iconic alien birth scene in Alien

You missed out the bit where puss Is dancing at the end dance and sits on a chair and pipes water on himself. It’s a reference to a 80s film called flashdance

Personally I'm not a fan the Little Mermaid reference in Shrek 2. She just washes up onto Shrek by accident and then out of jealousy, Fiona drags her across the beach and throws her back into the sea and the mermaid is set upon by a couple of sharks, but nobody knows for sure if she escaped or if they ate her. I get that this was suppose to be funny, but I just find it to be cruel on Fiona's part, especially when the mermaid gives a shrill scream. I'm ashamed of Fiona for that.
