Hi Todd thanks for the opportunity to tell your subscribers about our little project. The land is across the road from our farm, so it will always be easy to find us if you need help with anything. The idea is for people to lease (long term) a piece of the site. This will appeal to anyone who needs a base in S E Asia, a place to escape Europe’s winter, or Australia’s summer, or an affordable place to get back to living with nature. We have, or know where to find everything you need to build a home to what every design and materials you like. There are no requirements for planning permission or inspections. All services are close by or can be easily created

I'm definitely interested. Currently I'm in a semi rural part of Alabama. Single 67 yr old geezer who does not drink...much :) Few times a year perhaps. Give me a decent toilet and shower and the internet and food nearby and I'm fine. I live on around $350 a month here in the U$A. Might give you an idea of how simple I live. I would miss hitting the market as I love em. Lived part time north of Udon for some years. Video chat on FB? big question, how much for a patch of ground?

I totally agree with his assessments. I can see that you have to have that kind of attitude (take it easy, be flexible, don't take anything seriously, etc.) to be able to stay or settle in Laos. Not for everybody that's for sure:). Great video Todd and I love it.

Yes good chatting /listening to Chris Perkins. You guys are spot on,there is less pressure and less rules and regulations there.I guess it all depends on the person wanting to move to a South East country., where are they in there life? ( young/old/retired)You weigh up the pros and cons ,spend at least 12 months in an area you think is suited. After 12 months you will have a good idea, I would imagine...Kenno....West Aust

Listen to the interview. This is a great thing to listen as a foreigner lives in Laos. Couple things that impressed me was the legal issue dispute in Laos , and dialog between the foreighner and local village go no where. I think he is a great guy..

Cheers to all 4 of you---back in 2000, Laos was a piece of heaven, in so many ways---We Now live in Bali---10+ years---Chris' offering is very gracious---certainly worthy of a visit---we are interested---Last time we were in Laos, was in 2006 when we rode our Penang motorcycle through Thailand across to Laos around the North to the China border and exited out at Vientiane.....Yes, I got Chris' email address

Hi Todd, very interesting vid and from my short experiance here in Lao fully agree. Even go in a bank and grab some money from your account cost you plenty of time. We just bought a peace of Land in Savannakhet province close to Mekong and start building our future. So I had a little view in future due to this vid. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏 The only thing I worry a little is if you really got a healthy issue...... But when this pandemic is history the neighbore can help again. Just cross the river.

j'ai vécu et travailler au Laos centre culture français, plus lycée de 1968 à 1975, vraiment la situation a vraiment rétrogradée au niveau propreté, c'est crade de chez crade. Je préfère garder le souvenir d'un pays à l'époque plus calme et plus propre même si la pauvreté était numéro 1

Bit late on the reply, but the answer is I will eat anything put in front of me as long as it is not spicy. I think part explains my thoughts about liqueur although I never turn down neat black label.

Chris is right, the global economy is going to crumble and it's not going to be pleasant for any of us. 2008-09 when the us was already in the Iraq war we came close to a depression. Land values shot up because the governments ( local and federal) were broke and needed more tax revenue. My homes value went from about $65,000 USD to $176,000 basically over night. Taxes went threw the roof. Great interview, loving every minute of it. I know it's a bit late for questions but, Chris did mention he's getting pension(s) and I was just wondering was he working abroad this whole time? Not to get into anyone personal business just curious about how he was able to move around so much in life. That'll be another interview... Can't wait for part 3.

I worked in the UK, US and NZ, which is how I qualify for pension. I trained in an engineering field at a trades level, but I have turned my hand to many things, a skill I inherited from my parents.

I really enjoy your 'falang' perspective on Lao and its culture etc. I plan to visit Lao at the end of this year, my parents still live there. Thank you. I have also been referred to as "chilled out" and so laid back he is horizontal" I was not always like this, it has taken me a long time to get here. So it does not mater how old you are, there is still time to hit that reset button, to build a life as a human being instead of being a trained human doing.

the cops (for the most part) only bother you if you're not a productive contributor to that community. Holding down a bar stool and paying the college tuition for gogo bar dancers isn't really a productive member of any society (although I'm certainly guilty of both on occasion!) Chris is a very productive member of his community, and Lao people aren't stupid, they know if they run him off they loose a good dude! cheers! ron:)

Must have stayed at least 5 years in Laos able to speak read and write Lao.. 28 yes n above no dual citizenship and no criminal record. Able to support ownself.

i have been to thailand nearly 20 times.... married to a thai wife..... people ask can i speak thai... i answer HONGNAAM.... i answer that when i was single i could find a woman, a beer and a bed just by speaking english...didnt need thai.... when i was contracting my company name was HONGNAAM MINE SERVICES.... because i did a shit house job

To be honest our younger generation don’t really care about the past but our older generations still holding grudges against the France and America for war during the French Indochina. You will be more welcome if you’re not from France or America and I can tell these two are not from France or America.
