The both of you not only look like but sound like Kara & Nate the enthusiasm, smiles, Accent, great information/Ideas given, things yall have done is so delightful to go along with being a magazine cover couple. keep of the very very good work thanks for all you do the Kara & Nate of Switzerland..
You are so kind, thank you for your compliments!! “Magazine cover couple” and “the Kara and Nate of Switzerland “ 😊😊😊 We come from the same part of Tennessee as Kara and Nate so it’s not too surprising that we sound similar 🙂 But truly, you are so encouraging, thank you so much!
I have serious holiday blues, we stayed in Lauterbrunnen in August for a week and I’m still not over how breathtaking it all was. Cannot wait to return to the region. Your videos were a great help before we went 😊🇨🇭
We were in Lauterbrunnen last week and the line to purchase sausage was very long and appeared to be a must do. The cemetery near the church was so unique and beautiful. Thanks again for your great insight. It was a great help.
We stayed here last week of September, in fact we spotted you both at the bike store. This whole area is amazing and we gained so much information from watching your vlogs over the last year we shall definitely be bringing our motorhome to Switzerland again. Thanks for your help
Was just in Lauterbrunnen yesterday and your advice was spot on. We should have listened to you about walking up Staubbachfall. It was raining, slippery and not worth it. Trümmelbach falls was definitely worth it, amazing. Ran into a wonderful group of 20 something’s at the farm fridge mawing a block of delicious cheese and we were both fans, singing your praises!!! Thank you!!
We just came back from Switzerland and specifically Lauterbrunnen and we really used our advice throughout our whole trip!! Thank you so much! Definitely wanting to go back!
Wow, thanks for trusting our advice! We’re happy to hear you had such a good time and can’t wait to come back again! (…that’s how it started for us many years ago, and no we live here! 😁)
I was just there in mid September. Its one of the most beautiful places I've been! I bought your 1 week guide and that was incredibly helpful in planning my trip! I highly recommend that! I also went Paragliding. It was AMAZING!! 👍😎 Thank you both for your insight and guidance! It really made a great trip AMAZING! Happy Trails!!
QUESTION about Farm Fridges: My husband and I will be in the Lauterbrunnen Valley for a couple of days in August 2024. We will be doing hiking while there. How much CHF should we have on hand to be able to thoroughly enjoy the farm fridges? I’m assuming those farm fridges/shops don’t do credit cards.
Great question! You will need cash for farm fridges because they do not accept cards. Most items are 8-12 CHF, so you’ll want at least 20 CHF depending on what you want to buy (1 sausage and 1 cheese?). Enjoy!!!
We are going to be in Lauterbrunnen (staying in Murren) in latter mid August 2024. Would be great to potentially have a meet up. You’ll have been a true inspiration for our upcoming travels to Switzerland next summer.
We have a whole channel and blog with loads of free info for your Swiss vacation! And paid travel guides with done-for-you details. Browse our resource and we guarantee you’ll find more helpful info 😊
We were there today. Rainy day so a good day for Trümmelbach Falls No discount at all- we are staying in Wengen. No big deal but the ticket person was not having it when I asked about using the BO pass. Also it’s flowing so much that Falls 1 and 2 were closed because they were flooding. Bus 141 was easy - next to the Coop. No one asked for any form of payment - we all just piled on while the driver was having a cigarette.😂 Just beware folks- there are a lot of steps to climb to reach the top even if you take the elevator. I think they should inform people more. An overall observation if you’re coming to Switzerland and doing more than staying at a hotel across from the train station- you might want to build up your stamina first. There will be lots of stairs and walking uphill!
So glad you enjoyed the Falls! You’re right - Switzerland requires walking 🤣 And as for the bus, you don’t have to show the driver because it’s based on the honors system. If you need a ticket, you’re responsible to buy one (on the app or from the driver). Sounds like you were covered with the BO pass though!
We film exclusively on our iPhone now. It's just an iPhone 12, but we're looking to upgrade! And we always use an external mic to help improve the audio.
Hello! Thanks for this video (again), incredibly informative. By any chance do you offer guided tours? I am a solo traveler to the Jungfraujoch region next summer 2024.
Thanks for watching! No we don’t offer guided tours, but we do sell travel Guides that you can use like a tour guide in your pocket 😁 But this is a great place for solo travel because it’s easy to navigate and very safe!
@@AplinsintheAlps I appreciate your reply. I enjoyed your videos and they give me positive vibes and hopes. Honestly, I am extremely frightened traveling alone, but I want to do this before I turned 60 since especially I promised my late husband (in his death bed) that I will be in the Jungfrau region before I am 40, (life happened I did not get to make the trip), I just celebrated my 58th birthday. Keep your informative videos coming. Thank you for your hard work. 💕
You can find all of our guides at aplinsinthealps.com/guides Thanks for your encouragement! We greatly hope our 1-Week Guide to the Jungfrau Region (or whatever you choose) will help you fulfill your wish!
Well, if you find the flag, it’s a big plus 😜 I have visions of Jana sending Brett daily for milk from the vending machine. I’m loving the idea of cycling down the valley in lauterbrunnen- it’s pretty flat isn’t it?
Will have an opportunity to do a one day trip from Lucerne and were thinking to hire a car to go to Lauterbrunnen. Worth getting a car or better to do trains? We have 8 in our group. should we try to add anything else?
There’s a great scenic train called the Luzern-Interlaken Express that we recommend! There’s no need to rent a car unless you just want to (but that’s a big car for 8 people)! We also recommend Mürren, just above Lauterbrunnen!
About how long would this take? Wondering if i'd have enough time to do this and the activities from your "Murren Switzerland: 1 day guide". Thank you in advance!
It's too much to combine everything on this list with everything in our 1-Day Mürren itinerary (which is actually a full day in itself!). If you cut things out of both, you could combine into one day.
Hi there! We did a deep dive comparing 7 different places to stay in the Jungfrau Region (including Lauterbrunnen). You might find it helpful! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4CR9oGeWw6I.html
Guys, how is the restroom situation, especially on the bike ride? And are restrooms in Lauterbrunnen free? Signed, a 50+ year old with a small bladder. @aplinsinthealps
Ha, Jana has a small bladder too! There are free bathrooms in all of the stations and in the parking lot near the church. So no worries about bathrooms in Lauterbrunnen!
We have a resource that answers your exact question! You can find it on our RU-vid video or blog titled Month-by-Month Best Time to Visit Interlaken. There’s a free spreadsheet with info about which railways are open every month of the year 🙂
Hi! We went to the milk vending machine on the map today, and they’ve moved it to a completely different town! Do you know where else to get it that’s nearby? Staying in Wengen.
Do you think 3 days/2 nights is enough time to spend in this area? We are planning to do 3 nights in Lausanne and then spend the last 2 nights of our trip in this area. We would get in early on the first day, and could leave later on the third day.
Hi there! Definitely check out the Imboden website: www.imboden-bike.ch/en/ They usually have trailers/carriages for pulling small children and you can see all of the bikes they have available!
Bike riding in Switzerland? SAY LESS I’ll do this when I come in September I wish it were happening sooner but hey the time will fly on by before I know it
We’re so sorry you feel that way. When we travel, these are the activities that interest us most. And our general audience agrees and researches these things for their Swiss vacation as well - so we’re just recommending our favorites!
Do not listen to this video. Lauterbrunnen is just a jumping off point for way better places. Do not waste time dilly-dallying in the town. Take the cable cars or train to Grindlewald or Gimmelwald. It is a bit pricey, but then again, why did you come to Switzerland in the first place.
We like to give people options, especially since rainy or cloudy days are likely for most people on their trip. But having said that, we definitely would prioritize Mürren and Gimmelwald!
Hi guys, I'll be in Swiss next month and will stay in Luzern throughout my entire 8 days there. I am wondering whether Lauterbrunnen can be a day trip from Luzern. I am holding Swiss Travel Pass. Thanks for your valuable advice
Yes! It's still warm and the weather is usually nice. We did have a lot of rain this year though you can never predict the weather. We do have a video that gives you a month-by-month view of when is the best time to visit Switzerland. You can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1qzwAKWh2n0.htmlsi=xXUjrhMwNUKwHYBL
I just visited Lauterbrunnen yesterday and followed your recommendations. Thank you so much for making this video and all the other ones, in additionto the free map, and you guys are a really lovely couple.
Excellent video, I’m so excited I’ll be there in April. I’m wondering where did you get the food for the picnic ? Did you get it from the vending machine?
Most of our picnic food is from the local grocery stores such as Migros and Coop. Sometimes it is food from a farm fridge. Thanks for watching and we're glad you enjoyed the video. We hope you have a wonderful time here in April! It will be here before you know it!
