On a GTX 780 reference I only got like 25 fps in red dead 2 on 1080p with everything on low. We are at a point where integrated graphics has beaten the flagship card from when I bought my first gaming PC 10 years ago.
@@Hubwood I was so sad when I thought "Wow, this might actually be as fast as an RTX 2050!" But it ended up being another one of Intel's disappointments. It's really the speed of a GTX 1630, which is just a paperweight. My i5-10200H and RTX 2060 Max Q still going strong over 4 years later.
@@RobloxianXmaybe we are 4 years from having an iGPU as powerful as a 2060. Next year AMD will have 4060-4070 performance in an iGPU, but those chips are high wattage. Efficient chips will need a few years to reach that point.
@@AArrad AMD's current APUs can trade blows with gtx 1650M in some cases, which is more or less around the same type of performace from RX 570 on desktop from AMD (RX being a stronger contender than the 1650m), these are possibly the 2 closest GPUs to the current strongest APU we have from AMD in the market, of course there are games that outright destroy the APUs but there are also games that take better advantage of newer tech, which implies better performance on the APU than the GPU. RTX 2060 max Q is ~20-30% faster than the RX 570, so... if the 16 CU APU can deliver upwards to 20-30% increase in performance when compared to current best from AMD, we could assume that the next handheld APU will offer performance close to a 2060 max q. Obviously it won't beat it and will have a much harder time beating than previous GPU vs APU comparisions, because the RTX lineup is too damn OP for a handheld to beat just yet, but getting close to it is a remarkable feat. According to some leaks, AMD is going to stop APU production for a couple of years, so it will have no innovation for like 2 lineups after this one, by the time they touch the subject again, the leap in performance is going to be massive. If they were to achieve a 20-30% increase per lineup after the next one we are getting soon, considering 2 more generations would occur, each generation could use RDNA 4 CUs and RDNA 5 CUs, it could be possible to achieve massive gains... But this is all down to AMD wanting it to happen or not. An APU will never beat a GPU consistently across the board, but achieving similar results is good enough for me. Considering the fact that a good portion of these setups with GPUs are using way more energy to get that performance.
@Masterchief84189 Intel literally said that the Arc iGPU was 10% faster. AMD said that the 780M was around the speed of the 1650M. You know what's less than 10% faster than the 1650M? The 2050M. I had every right to believe what I did.
You can virtually limit the available memory for the Windows OS, but without physically disabling or removing the ram sticks (or desoldered the bga and flashed eprom and BIOS to register the new 16GB RAM in this instance) you cannot serve this as an accurate, fool proof, scientific conclusion. The best way of observing the differences would be achieved by comparing 16GB configuration with a 32GB one.
Prime usually tests Forza in game in free play mode. You are running the built-in benchmark which is much more stressful aka worst case scenario performance. That's why he is probably getting much higher fps. You should just tool around for a minute like he does and see how it performs. My guess is much closer to his results.
Yeah the benefit of the benchmark is that everyone can compare it perfectly 1:1 With their own system whatsoever. Not possible with free roaming. There are some areas on the west side of the map in the desert that get very high fps, but it's unfair to show these IMHO. The rest of the map would run worse.
@@Hubwood You know how Prime is, he is indefatigably positive about everything. Even when he talks about pain points/negatives he sounds optimistic and positive. Probably why he shows the easy test run for Forza, so everything looks as good as it can. Dude knows how to sell stuff that's for certain. Keep up the good work.
Are there different versions of Intel's ARC integrated graphics? Seen a deal with Dell ..Inspiron 14 Plus Ultra 7 processor 155H and 32GB, 2x16GB, LPDDR5X, 6400MT/s for £761..is that a decent deal? Spec does not state refresh rate of the panel though so guessing it is bog standard rate.
I assume the 16GB is split between CPU / GPU in some way, as opposed to a dedicated GPU having its own RAM. And in some cases, the split makes it's too tight for some games.
@@ciw8688 16GB of RAM is completely fine, however the issue with eGPUs is that if you arent using a direct PCIe connection there will be a severe bandwidth bottleneck. However if you can find a way to use Occulink or Thunderbolt 5, then go for it.
And here is me on 8GB. I don’t game anyway but funny I got a machine in 2023 and knew 8GB would be stretching but now it’s clear it’s dead on arrival 😂
What are you doing I skipped through. 60fps is borderline usable I don't think anyone is interested at anything under 120fps at 1080p or more realistically 1440p 120 fps as a min worthwhile setup, Or they would just buy a console, sure you can play games on your graphic's calculator but should that be your gaming platform? Might as well play PUBG or COD on mobile for some frames at this point.
The version is 7640. There was another one available. ASUS vivobook pro oled laptop with the Intel core ultra 7 series 1, and the NVIDIA RTX 3050, with 16gb ram. Which one do you recommend?
@@christiandiazmiranda2635 It's not made for gaming. I use mine with 32gb for phot editing and it works nicely but for gaming I would get something else
what do you think on this core with fifa performance, im thinking to get fifa25 for this year and play it on this laptop do you think it will work on it?
Most likely not. It's GPU is identical to the Core ultra 7 GPU. The difference would only be due to the slightly higher Clock Speed of the CPU. So in many cases basically no difference at all.
Hey, do you have ResizableBAR and above 4G decoding enabled for these tests ? Also, can you make tests with games running with XeSS ? I doubt people would just play games on laptops like these without manually increasing the number of FPS.
Hey where do you get ram for some of these models, im using a HP zbook firefly 14 g11 with 16gb and with my editing and visual software at uni i notice it sits at 90-99% ram usage, but I cant seem to find where to buy more ram for this pc
he is using the benchmarks which is the way to go, because it will be the same for each computer, it's impossible to free play exactly the same twice. Also for the comments about RAM Usage: windows and games/apps will enquire how much is available and make the most out of it, loading as much assets as possible to the RAM. If there isn't too much, the SSD will be used, either way ssds nowadays are very fast and if the game is well coded, the ssd speed is enough to simulate RAM. So RAM usage as his is normal. On my Surface Pro 8 with 8 gb ram the ssd is much more usedthan on a 16 gb version. The same happens on MacOS.
I backed the OnexPlayer X1 to use as handheld and laptop instead of a legion go. I got the 155 32gb ram version but now wondering if its worth it? think the drivers will get better to match the z1 extreme in the Go? Was watching the Go play this at a pretty steady 55-60 fps and hoping the Ultra and X1 can do that as well after driver updates
Yea I'm wondering the same, watched some other video benchmarks using gpd and the X1 and the intel 155 seems to be lagging behind the 7840u by about 5fps
Guys just wait for it. Also baked the xi with 32gb and it will help like you see here. Intel is pushing their arc drivers alot. Just compare the a770 huge step forward.
Still holding my pre order but I am starting to think of a Go or maybe even a 7840 handheld. But I really like the 3 in 1 form factor and size of the x1 and would be happy If I got legion/ally performance so i do want to keep it and do hear that if id had the drivers it needed on paper it should be better than the z1 extreme/7840 so Im hopefully for that. But if I'm getting less than that and its getting closer and still the same i might cancel, if I don't ill have to sell it myself for a little lose then get Go and feel dumb, lol.@@DeNo1Designer
I currently wouldnt recommend buying a handheld. AMD got some pretty big APUs scheduled for this and next year. Also unless you paid a lot more then 32 gigs is probably good to have over the 16 gigs in the future.
Does the 780m follow a similar trend? Looking at the new Ideapad 2-in-1 AMD on a really good discount, but it's the 16GB config. Quite hesitant after watching this.
@@Neptuniaoneyes that is the problem. When set to auto it goes crazy and allocates way too much ram to the gpu. It gets to the point to where the computer runs out of ram in my case and the game starts to stutter.
Can someone tell their experience or performance with games with 32 gb arc graphics for games like Valorant, apex or the finals? As I want to know if it can handle games like these with stable 90 fps. This would mean a lot as I just want to do some light gaming on the weekends and use the laptop more for work and portability. Meaning I do not want to buy a gaming laptop and can totally avoid needing a laptop with dgpu because of the bad battery life.
@@Hubwood Really meaning games like these can run well with stable 90 frames!? Thank you for ur reply that really helps me in me making a decision on the laptop I should buy. Ur one of the only creators I have seen test these new devices and its graphics performance :0 thank you.
Really depends. Check out my video in which also test these games on that CPU/GPU ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q7AaeHxbPw0.htmlsi=XRvfT5WGAWQmUVJW Also drivers improved a bit since then. Valorant ran with 200 but apex with 60+. At 1080p. Surely room for tinkering around. And driver updates in mind...
@@Hubwood Omg yeah thank so much. This really helps a lot and gives me a certain peace of mind when buying a new laptop for my Uni. Knowing that the Core ultra is able to play Valorant and Apex comfortably is a relief and gives me the flexibility to game in the weekends for a bit with my friends but also have a portable and efficient laptop for the whole day. Again thank for taking the time and replying and your videos
Hey man Im literally crying right now. I was looking for ages for an fps review of the intel ultra 7 155h for a galaxy book 4 pro to make my final purchasing decision and finally found you. Thanks a lot❤❤❤. I had one small question though, will I get similar performance on the book 4 pro with 32gb ram and 1Tb config like u got on the Asus? Thanks a lot in advance. And amazing video again🔥🔥 You got a new subscriber 🤛🤛
Uh I guess it should perform similar IF the galax book can also pull 25-35W for the chip. But as I haven't tested it myself I can't say that for sure. 😅 (I'm saying so because I also had an MSI Laptop first which wasn't able to pull more than 20W for the chip and the results have been slower because of that...)
@@Hubwood Hey there!!! I just found out the galaxy book 4 pro 16 inch has a long term sustained load of 35 watts. My genuine question now is does the ram speed make a difference in these fps? The book 4 pro has a 7400 Mhz ram, quite a lot faster conpared to the swift go 14 u have here. Will there be a difference in performance if we compare the 16gb ram version??
Seeing most midend GPUs like a770 and 4070 already use 16GB ram... It's necessary for laptops to have at least 16GB RAM because now it's the new 8GB. Integrated GPU has gone this far and sharing it with increasing CPU core count + NPU means standard notebook SoC is a memory hog just as much as discrete GPU.
Not accurate at all. i have the new zenbook duo 2024 120hz oled, ultra 7 155H & 16gb ram.. in the asus system setting app i put 8gb allocation to the arc GPU & the fan speed option to performance mode with the AC power and was able to play all games on high setting with few tweaks in graphics setting of the games which i couldn't believe a laptop without RTX can even do lol
@sh4unity204 is there a major difference between the functionality of an: ultra 7 155H work with RTX 4070 and 32gb ram compared to ultra 9 185h with rtx 4070 and 32gb ram
@@Hubwood Yes I know because of that I said “we try” but you depends only on one Never mind Your channel is great could you try cyborg 15 Msi 4050rtx ultra 7 155H
