There are two filters. One is on the LH side above the foot board, and the other is behind the "circle" panel on the RH side just in front of the RH foot peg. There's a drain "slot" at the front of the side case on the very bottom of the panel. I've never had anything other than bugs and belt dust in mine.
your vids are very useful for me. Thank you for that. But now i have a question: i forgot to mark the driven pulley before i dismounted it from the shaft. But i found the same pink spot on the shaft which you remark at 07:45. Do you believe this mark has to do with the pulley or could it be fortuity that this two different coloured marks are at the same spot?
Hello I wanted to say I like ur videos. I have a guest ion for you I have 2015 t max 530 I was considering upgrading to the malossi Variator do u think this will make a really noticeable difference to the performance of the scoot?
I just replaced the belt on my frends aprilia habana custom, it looks like a toy in comparison to your machine lol, i still had to use a manual impact driver and rubber hammer to remove the nuts. The new one was a kevlar one so it might last a bit longer lol Smashing tutorial :-)
I have a blue 2009 tmax. Thank you for posting these videos. I have 19000 km on it and have only done routine maintenance. Was curious about how your v belt looked. Very impressed on how little it deteriorated with 16000 miles on your Yamaha. Can't wait for the next video. Also i am curious if you have a diagram for that special tool you made to take of the variator? I need to make one up. Thanks!
No, and no cleaning fluids, just blow them out with compressed air. Pull the covers off to make sure that you even have them on your scoot, and that someone hasn't taken them off.
Mostly Bel-Ray assembly grease, but they call out "Shell BT" grease for the variator shaft nut. Yamaha has, and it's called poly urea grease. But John Deere has poly urea grease they call "corn head" grease for about $5 a tube. The shaft nut is under tremendous torque, so they want a "high pressure" grease to keep from galling the threads when you torque the nut down. I think I mention all the greases I used in the series of videos when I used them.
+Or Azran The service manual doesn't say, and I don't remember what they were. You will have to remove the side cast to see. Seems like 39mm is what I remember. You might look at some other videos to see if they say.
What is the standard weight of the variator weights ? She needs a new Vbelt and I was thinking about dropping down a weight class of the variator weights while at it.
I think they are 16-17 oz, but I may be wrong. Most Tmaxers are using Dr. Pulleys and in combinations of weights. 3 of one and 3 of another. I think they are mixing 15's and 17's, but again I may be wrong. Check out the Tmax section at Majestyusa.com
Il dado della puleggia primaria è serrati a 160Nm, 16.0m-kg, 115 ft-lb per una puleggia stock. Io non so quale sia la Costa J. chiede, ma direi che dovrebbe essere lo stesso. New!Sign in and click the star to save this translation into your Phrasebook. Sign inDismiss
Hi,I want to change the gear oil on my 2009 T-max ,but can;t found the oil recommended by manufacturer in the manual (SAE 80 API GL-4 ).Found the Yamalube for shaft drive gear oil friction modified SAE 80W-90 GL-4 GL-5 . But i think this is not the one ,because manual does't says about GL-5 Witch oil will you recommend?? Thanks P.S. Thanks for you videos, they are VERY HELPFUL.
+yana ru The GL-5 is ok to use with the drive chain. GL-5 was not recommended for older vehicles that may have "brass bushings" in them, but the Tmax has no brass bushings in the final drive chain housing so it's ok to use. I don't think I have ever seen a straight GL-4 oil anywhere.
The handle is a steel pipe, and the "pin ring" is a really big steel washer that I drilled holes in to fit the bolts and nuts. The two are welded together.
with a 2014, it could be the belt, clutch, or one of the final drive chains. Spin the rear wheel on the C Stand, and listen to the swing arm. I think it's probably the clutch.
ciao potrei sapere a quanti kili va tirato il bullone del variatore del t max anno 2009 e che rulli mi consigliate per il variatore j costa evo 2 racing avendo uno scarico della mivv vi prego aiutatemi
I had to use some heat on part of the nut to expand the metal to finally get it to come off. I don't like using an impact gun, as it may damage the threads.
