This is how to completely disassemble the lid to the 16oz Thermos King Stainless Steel travel mug. Well, I didn't take the screw out of the centre cap but what's the sense in that ?!? The goal here is to properly clean the areas where fluids can get trapped.
Enjoy!

Best video. Found your video after watching a useful one previously and yours is what I call a disassembly. Not those that only done half way. Most important is the middle section! Thanks much

Got it apart. Got it cleaned. Great video. Putting it back together? Ha-Ha. Called Customer Service and paid for another lid to be shipped to me. Awaiting arrival.

I've had this mug for several years, and thought I knew how to disassemble it fully, turns out I was missing that last step! Was pretty nasty inside. Thanks!

Great video! Thanks, Anyone had the problem with the steel ring around that top part gone loose or slippery and spinning when trying to open it?

Thank you! I knew there had to be a way! I get milky coffee up in there and 'tis grody!

The ring with the wording also has a locating groove. The groove is small and easily missed. The ring can be installed out of that groove as it incorrectly was on my new mug. It will then deform the ring slightly. When I cleaned my lid and installed the ring correctly, I found that the wording, open/closed, were around the wrong way. Nothing I can do will make open and closed be in the correct position. I think it must be a printing error. So for me, open is closed. Not the biggest problem in life but.....

Mate. Thanks so much. I’ve just pulled mine fully apart for for the first time (after several years - embarrassingly). So easy. Fortunately it has only ever had black tea in it. Hubby’s is next.

Thanks for the video. I took mine part as well but I might have to take it apart again. The rotating part doesn't seem to be sitting flush with the lid anymore. I went the extra step by removing the white piece from the rotating part as there is one more silicone ring in there. Have you noticed if any water has been getting in between the silver/chrome mouthpiece? When I shake mine I can here some water in there even though the lid is fully disassembled.

I’ve never gotten water in there, no. But you certainly could if you put that part in your dishwasher. The stainless ring is crimped/pressed in place and maybe glued …but most definitely hollow. Extreme conditions could force water in there. Without drilling a hole I can’t imagine a way of letting it out :-(

I couldn’t get the center assembly to “pop” so I used the larger black ring that closes the lid mechanism to provide enough leverage. Otherwise, thank you so much !!

Silver ring on mine is loose so when I close it it just spins around and I can’t get the lid off. Anyone know how to fix that?

Oooooo there's no elegant fix for that. It's not supposed to come off so you're going to struggle to get glue underneath it to secure it. I recommend you tap a small nail on it to deform the metal slightly - but don't poke a hole through. Not certain that would work TBH. Next I would try drilling a small hole on opposite sides, from the outside of that ring. Then rotate it so your new holes don't line up with either spot you drink from and squeeze some superglue in the holes. No idea how big of a gap there is behind that metal ring but that should harden and stop it from spinning.
