What did I do without this for so long?2 pieces of French Toast at a time ?20 minutes for 10 pancakes ?NO MOREthis griddle is awesomeTook some time to season before first use ru-vid.comUgkxHM5jmQoi4dbb0hoWSBs9hPhSwXUbGVG_ did brunch and hibachi dinner on Mother’s Day and it worked like a charmSturdy, well built and heats up quick. burners2-4 were a little stubborn but then lit up.Great addition to my patio.Bought the cover and it’s great, also bought the accessories kit - scraper is good but the spatulas are flimsy to be honest that’s my only negative.
I would reccomend disconnecting the lid from the griddle, and then seasoning the griddle in the oven like you would a cast iron skillet. That way you get a nice and even seasoning across the entire surface.
You might not want to use regular paper towels. They pull a lot of lint down. I use an old cotton t shirt cut in squares or blue shop towels. We love our 17”.
Thanks so much for this wonderful video!!! My parents got us one this past Christmas as they know we do a lot of camping. I live in Upstate NY so camping will be starting in about 2 weeks and our weather just got warm enough where I feel like finally seasoning it. You really helped when you showed the bottle and how much you got out of it, it's been something I've been dying to know. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of having a bigger tank. It's me, the wife, and a 7yo in a Ford Escape with all our camping gear. So this is gonna be about on par with our Coleman Camping Grill for usage. Makes me really excited. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for posting the video. I'm about a year late, but just got my Blackstone grill & was looking for seasoning & start up tips. Love your first meal with the sausage, potatoes, & veggies. I do love polish sausage & do a lot of sausage mix with hashbrowns & tri-colored peppers in the fry pan. I'm sure the Blackstone is going to be a game changer for me. By the way, I also love your back yard. You've inspired me to get to work on mine.
I've done a couple hundred meals on that Blackstone since doing that video. Really perfect for two people. Thanks for the compliment, and thanks for watching!
We purchased the same size Blackstone griddle for the same reasons you did. We had the 22" size griddle with the lid and base stand, but it was WAY too heavy and took up too much room in the basement of our Fifth Wheel RV. I just finished seasoning it and did the normal seasoning layer 4 times, but on the fifth time, I moved the cooktop forward about 1.5 inches so that the back portion got a little seasoning too. That amount of food was just right if you want to have leftovers for a meal or two. Once you start using both spatulas you will discover that you lose less food out of the grease slot. Having the slot at the back is also much nicer over time as it keeps the drained grease away from your food work area and you are less likely to accidentally bump then spill it like you would if it was up front.
Great nice video sir, I just bought one today the wife told me that it's going to be my job to do the cooking, lol, I said sure can't wait to try it out we also are going on our camping trip Tuesday, that food is looking good. Now I must have the older one I guess because my hole for the grease is in the front.
Our first griddle was not a Blackstone and had only one flame bar that went edge to edge across the mid-line. Seasoning it showed the limited area that actually heated up enough to cook anything since those corners you showed in the one I had were all around the edges. We bought a 22 with 2 burners and it is nice to see the 17 works so nicely.
I love our 17 inch, we bring it on the road with us and its easy to set up and break down. If I was purchasing one for home, I would definatly go with the 22 or bigger. Thanks for watching. Enjoy!
I was hell-bent on getting the 22 inch 2 burner until I saw the 17 inch in person. The 17 is bigger than I was expecting and It’s the perfect size. I also found the two burner to be a little too heavy and cumbersome to move around. Great video… Thanks for sharing 😎👍
Good job. I'm looking at purchasing and I like when reviewers mention some of the little not so thought of things like the hole in the back and how the propane canister lasted on high. Thank you.
Dont throw away those little 1lb tanks, you can buy an adaptor from Harbor Frieght and use your larger 20lb tank to refill and reusee them to be more portable.
Will be heading north, Washington, Idaho, Montana etc. through the summer. Hoping to get down to your part of the world when temperatures start dropping.
I'm on a road trip right now and have been connecting directly to the trailer via a hose. I'd guess if you add 6 to 8 inches to the width of the Blackstone, you'd be pretty close. Good luck!
After last oil cure add about 1oz of limes or lemons with about 12oz of water mixed add to griddle at hot temp and scrape clean, collect all in dispenser. I believe you can buy a addaptorr to add bigger size propane tank.
It's an exercise in patience! Lol. I like to let mine cool all the way down to about 130f, especially with a glaze firing. I'd say at least 18 hours from the time the kiln reaches temperature and shuts down. That's with the 3 inch firebrick. I glaze fire at cone 6 with about a 5 minute hold. Hope that helps! And good luck!
Now that you've had it for 3 years, what do you think of the lid? I am ready to pick up one of these 17" gridles for our camping trips. I can't decide if I should get the lid or not. Anybody have any input on this?? I am planning on getting the Carry Bag for it. Does the gridle fit in the Carry Bag with the lid? If I go without the lid, is the cover (that comes with the Carry Bag) sufficient? Thanks! ( I love this recipe. So simple. It will be a camping staple for us!)
I like the lid for two reasons, 1. It helps keep the heat so that veggies, etc. soften quicker, and 2. It keeps it clean when not in use (leaves, bird droppings, etc. I also have a 'bag' made from heavy material that a friend sewed for me, i use that while traveling. I love the 17" Blackstone, for my wife and I, it's perfect!
