We put the 17 inch Blackstone griddle through the wringer by using it for all three meals in one day. Watch as we test out this Blackstone 17 inch model and provide our Blackstone Griddle Review. We have found that the 17 inch Blackstone Griddle is perfect for full time RV living and RV life as well. While we don't have the 22 inch Blackstone Griddle we will still be doing a Blackstone griddle 17 vs 22 model.

One of the great things about the Blackstone Griddle is that it comes in various sizes with various options. The 17" which is what we bought, is the smallest in their lineup. So far after just a few days of use, we are loving it.

We got a 17" Blackstone as well for same reasons: takes up less space and 99.9 percent of the time it's just the 2 of us. Perfect size for carrying in the camper. I'm having a blast using it and my wife loves that I'm doing the cooking. It's also much more versatile than a grill. Would be nice to have the different zones a larger one would have but we're happy.

@@waynekern8471 right, we feel the same way. Two cooking zones would be nice, but the smaller size, for us is more important.

Like you, I went with the 17" versus the 22", and for the same reasons. No regrets. I fully understand why one would want a 22", BUT, space in my 5th wheel is at a premium. Not long ago, I group camped with two couples who also each had the 17" blackstone griddle. NOW that was awesome. 3 griddles going for meal cooking. But whether I'm solo or with friends, my 17" blackstone is one of the best investments I've made since I started full time RVing.. Great food, easy clean up, keep the heat out of the RV...........

I had a 30” and the wife decided we needed one to travel with. We went with the 22” and I’m really glad we didn’t go smaller. BUT I quickly learned the tiny gas bottles are more trouble than they are worth. Now we just take a 20lb tank and we never have to worry about running out.

There are advantages to the 22" for sure. For just the 2 of us however the 17" has been perfect. I don't use the bottles anymore either. We have a direct connect to our RV now.

After watching your video with the Johnson's, I came here and watched this one. We bought the 17 in Blackstone 2 years ago for our rv and have loved it since. I decided to make a couple of additions to the setup. I purchased two 5 lb LP tanks and the adapter hose (hose from Blackstone). Also discovered that I needed a wind break at times, so I constructed a tri-folding wind break out of MDF and some hinges. It folds flat for storage. My daughter and son-in-law bought one also for their rv and then a larger one for at home. Great product.

@@mannyfragoza9652 It seemed to me I was constantly changing the 1 pounders since I use the griddle at least once per day. Plus then I had a collection of empty cylinders that I had to dispose. So it was easier to use the 5 pounder. I have 2 so I always have one full. Or you could have one 5 pounder and keep a 1 lb as a backup.

I know this is an older video but here's my 2 cents. We just use our portable cheap BBQ gas grill with a lightweight aluminum griddle on top for griddling and can use it to BBQ steaks normally as well as we use it to heat our coffee pot directly over the flame flute while the grill and heat exchange teepee is off. We balance the pot with a couple of small rocks to keep the weight off the flute. Very lightweight system, easy peasy to store and not much cleanup maintenance. Anyway, these Blackstone are all the rage but there's a better alternative for people who need to keep things light and compact and easy. Also, FWIW, we have 390 watts of solar using 4 Trojan golf cart 6 volt batteries instead of Lithium that we find absolutely awesome. We have no power wants at all. We use our genny at times for keurig or what not or when it's cloudy. You two are doing a great job on your channel BTW, keep it up.

I bought the 17" with the rear grease cup in July. I bought it primarily to carry in our camper but..... The wife enjoyed the food I was cooking on it that, I brought it home and use it about every other day. I've cooked all kind of meats and veggies on it. Gas grills usually don't last with me from the amount of use I put them through. So far, the Blackstone is doing very well! The hose adapter to use a larger bottle is definitely worth it!!!

Good video. I have the 22" and it works great for us. I use it at home also. You can get a quick connect adapter if you have an LP quick connect on your rig or an adapter that will connect it to a 20Lb tank. I got the 22" so I could have two temperature settings. For example. I can cook sausage or hash browns first push them off to the side and have the burner off. On the hot side I can make my omelet or pancakes. It works great for real philly cheese-steaks, but you must use shaved rib eye. The best thing is, I can cook a whole pound of bacon at one time if I need to.

Mountain Beaches you first get a press. Blackstone has them or other brands. Like cast iron. Make your burger into balls. Not real large. As you want the burger to be thin when done. Place a small amount of oil on the griddle and get the griddle very hot. Place the burger on and let it sit for a Minute to begin browning. then take parchment paper and place over the ball and smash down firmly to flatten. Parchment keeps raw burger from sticking to the press. The hot griddle will sear the burger then flip and brown the other side. The edges get crispy. I also like to put a bit of butter on the burger just before it’s done and let melt. I am getting hungry for one now. Let me know how you like them.

Ours had a hose and special connection to run off of 30# bottles of propane. We can leave ours out all the time and always ready to use. My wife loves it because you have no other pans to clean up. Nice video. I love my 17. I'm a huge Blackstone fan. My favorites in order... 1. GEN 1 Pizza Oven, $250 Added an upgraded rotisserie motor for $50 2. 36" Gen 1, $150 on clearance at WallyWorld 3. 28" Gen 1, $70 on clearance at WallyWorld.. 4. 17" Gen 1, $70 at Ace Hardware Bought a 20lb SS braided adapter Used a B and D mouse on all griddles. They all have a purpose. The 17 is handy for smashburgers, and tailgate use with the Coleman tanks. The 28 is the bigger party portable camp griddle with the carrying case for the griddle top. 36 stays home, and is a Sat or Sun family breakfast monster. Philly cheesesteaks with JimmyJohns bread are another fun family cook. With whiz! My 17 griddle doesn't have the tacked on angle iron, and warped. BS CS was awesome, sent out a new griddle pre angle iron. It's still unseasoned in its box.

Wow, thank you so much 💙 Seasoning it took about 30 minutes is all. Not too bad. We did 5 coatings. I've heard people do as many as 20! Blackstone recommends between 3-5 to start with.

The breakfast you guys made looked fabulous, would love to have some of that right now! We bought the Blackstone 22" with a stand and lid, because our 3 burner Camp Chef with the 30" griddle is a little too big and heavy to always take with us camping (especially for the short duration trips). We keep our Blackstone setup on our covered patio in the backyard at home during the summer. I noticed a while back, that both companies are headquartered in the same town in Northern Utah, a few blocks away from one another.

I have a 22” with the base and legs. I use it a lot at home and love it. I have taken it in the 5th wheel for trips but I’m finding it difficult to get in and out due to it’s weight. I think I’m going to get the 17” due to better portability and that it’s large enough to hold food for just my wife and I. When the family comes with their campers I may take the 22 but I’ll have someone to help me get it in and out. And wait until you try a ribeye on the black stone. Awesome! Thanks for the video.

I came across one at a garage sale it works really well. You did mention the size makes it a little hard to prepare meals to some extent but I may have a way to mitigate that. I am assuming its working with the large spatulas since I had that problem. Frankly they are too big for the size so I got smaller and different style tools. I served and did some contractor work in Japan and often went to teppanyaki places, restaurants that make food in front of you on a griddle and I adopted their tools. You can search for videos to looks at chefs making food and the tools but the tools smaller and much more manageable to work on the small surface space you have for this griddle. Of course I am not saying replace everything with the tools my 90% the Japanese tools work. Also they arent exotic tools or anything, one I use is basically a paint scraper that i bought at Home Depot, its more of using different techniques for cooking. Hopefully, if you watched some videos, it will open up more styles of food you can cook on the griddle like fried rice dishes and fried noodles-try to use egg noodles.

We have been using our Blackstone 17 for about a year and a half. I wanted a 22" but nobody had one for purchase so I bought the 17. I long for the 22" every time I use it. It is just the 2 of us but I like to cook enough for leftovers. I really can't do that on the 17". A pound of bacon takes the entire griddle. I love to grill zucchini, mushrooms, onion, peppers, and potatoes/sweet potatoes to have for a meal and plenty leftover for lunch salads (with balsamic drizzle) for several days. I really need a 22" to make that happen. Also, the single burner limits the flexibility and various heat zones. May have to upgrade soon.

Interesting. I'm thinking of getting that model. We now have the 17" teflon coated one we bought years ago. While I love it, the grease catcher doesn't work well and is too small. But I loved it so much otherwise we bought the 22" for our house. On size, for two of us I almost never use but half of the 22" griddle except when we have guests. So for the the 17" is more than enough. Of course the grandkids eat about 2 lbs of bacon for breakfast each (kidding), so then we fill the 17 up. I'm not sure why people recommend the 22" unless for their house.

We have the 17 inch Blackstone griddle and really enjoy it. There are several reasons we like the 17" for the 2 of us, most of which were stated in the video. One key aspect that the 17" has over the larger model is the fact that the front lip edge is the perfect height so that when you are using the spatula it will rest on the edge of the griddle with the face up and is off the griddle burner area. The height of the larger model is made slightly shorter and will NOT allow the spatula to properly balance on the edge. Of course we are using the steel grade spatula. Simply rest the spatula with the face up while you are cooking not using the utensil. Really handy and allows the spatula to be ready to use without the need to set it on a side plate or otherwise. Why did Blackstone not make the two griddles the same? Not sure, but this is a really handy option while cooking. Also, Blackstone does not seem to make an aluminum drip pan liner to add into the drip tray for the 17". Not a big deal, but could aid in cleanup.
