Overshadowed by a 17 year old prodigy, but Hunt deserves some love as well for running a fraction outside the Olympic qualifying time. Australia has a bunch of talented middle distance runners at the moment.

Loved the commentary, really gets you into the Race as a viewer. A big plus for the former World Champion, Jake Wightman, to compete at the humble Crest Athletics Centre, Bankstown, Sydney, Australia, if sound, fit, and in good health, the humble Wightman will Race all comers anytime, anyplace, a commendable 3rd in 3.34.31. But strong effort on the night by Australia’s Cameron Myers to win comfortably in a first-class 3.33.30. The big surprise was Australia’s Jesse Hunt, looking very strong to run a top-notch 2nd in 3.33.64. Savour the night, that’s what I say ! Paris Can and Will wait, worrying about possible Injury and Health Problems is not the way to go, just get on with Competing and Training, take normal precautions and just don’t do anything Physically Silly. Besides, Backing-Up at The Olympic Games is a real Test of Strength and Stamina, the Heat and Semi-Final very Competitive and we all know what The Final will be like, all in the space of about 4-5 days. Very Early Days, of course, and anything can happen between Now and Paris, but on Paper at least, this format could favour Norwegian Strong Man, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, in my humble opinion. But thanks to The Crest, The Commentator, and The Runners for a Great Night ! 😊

Unrelated comment here but guys do you know if an athlete with anemia could theoretically get a TUE and take Erythropoietin (EPO? If they could I wondered how they would be tested and what if any limits they would have placed on them. Surely training at altitude would be problematic for their blood tests. I'm just curious (not asking for a friend).

i wouldve liked the pacemakers to take it out for 1s below OQ to stretch Myers a bit. wouldve liked to see him go into the 3:32s here. Not sure if he'd be entirely happy with this time being slower than a year ago. he already has the OQ so no biggie and we dont know where hes at in his training. Itll take a sub 3:29 to get a medal in Paris.
