#177. Making Pigment Paste For Resin. I CAN'T BELIEVE This Worked FIRST TIME!
So, in this Resin Art video I show the difference between two blooms poured at different depths and also, we jump into trying to make our own pigment paste! All in all, these turned out incredible for a first attempt! I highly recommend trying this and saving some money!
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

Thanks for doing this Dan. It Lets people know that they don't have pay extortionate amounts, buying such paste from certain people and that it's actually very easy and cheap to make at home. I just hope everyone sees this now. Your blooms are awesome, best I've seen. Great job ❤.

I didn't realize the depth made a difference either. However, maybe this gives us a an opportunity to add different backgrounds. Maybe a two layered background with something iridescent then a darker layer to make it pop. The ideas are limitless. Thank you for sharing. ✌️❤️🤣 remember to always strive for peace, love and happiness in your life.

Very cool experiment, one thing i have noticed is the effect of gravity on pigments. The deeper the pour the further the pigment will sink down to the bottom, pulling with it anything around it (think small pebbles sinking in syrup or oil). I had more success with blooms when i only used inks, and a heatgun (pouring from a height at the places i wanted the color to contract), but im still experimenting as well 😅 You are definitely on to something there concerning the depth of the pour. Cool video, thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Daniel, for the tips! As someone who is just starting out with resins, I'm struggling to justify buying a $13 bottle of resin pigment or $18 for the sinker white, especially since I'm not sure I will use it all before it goes bad. It seems like such a waste. This is a much more economical way to achieve the same beautiful results. I'm wondering what will happen if I add mica powder or pearl alcohol inks to the mixture. Could you do a video on that? I would also be interested to know how it effects the viscosity of the resin and just some basics about what happens on a physical level when you add certain things. Does mica powder spread? How and why do the inks spread? Is there a good rule of thumb about how deep sinkers will sink, such as temperature and/or viscosity? So many questions. Hope you can answer some of them. Thanks for all you do. I've learned so much already!

AMAZING blooms, Daniel! 💕 Both are beautiful, but that shallow pour is absolutely *GORGEOUS!* The bloom is wider, more evenly spread, has more definition, and - crazily - *_has more depth!_* HOW?!? BEST BLOOM EVER, dude! 😍👍 Who knew a *shallow* pour would make better blooms?!? 😲 I always heard we need a fairly deep pour to avoid blobbing (assuming not too much white paste is used), but this...! P.S. To get the lumps out, push the powder through a fine sieve, using a finger, popsicle stick, spatula...whatever! That way, you won't need to purchase a mortar and pestle. 😊

Would using a small brand new sieve work to break up the lumps in the powder before adding Part A or Part B (depending on the creator’s preference) be a better starting point, especially if you don’t have equipment at hand to pull all the trapped air bubbles out of any clumps, thus breaking the clumps up later? I only suggest a new sieve because it won’t have been used before on anything that could potentially have left anything on despite washing up. The sieve could be small & labelled for use with Titanium Powder & stored in a sealed ziplock bag to prevent dust collecting on it. And would you only want to use the paste with the exact same resin you made it with? Or does it work with different brands? Different viscosities? Different cure times? Different types of resins like Deep Pour etc.?

Hi Daniel, I've just started watching your videos for a short while now. I love how creative and beautiful your experiments come out. I'm trying out resin jewelry too. But I don't know how to drill a hole using the self drilling tool... could or did you do a video how to do that? Have a gloriously blessed Monday 😉

Can I ask what you would use to colour your own pigment paster?

This is very interesting. Wonderful results. What happens when resin expires? Is it just that it goes yellow?
@daniel..cooper
@daniel..cooper 10 месяцев назад
Yes, yellowing is one but many other things can happen like changes in viscosity, poor curing and bonding etc. I will make a vid soon with some very out of date resin 😂

Love this bloom. I'll give it a try. Daniel I have a question perhaps you can answer. I've poured several batches of Let's Resin for the heart molds (appox 2" across and 3/8" deep) I have been following your videos and I mix according to instructions, put 3 drops of Ranger alcohol inks and 3 drops of Let's Resin white sinker. I try adding 3 drops of Let's Resin translucent pigment (liquid form) to the resin before pouring into the molds. Again drop in 3 drops of Rangers and 3 drops of sinker. These are having trouble completely curing. Do you think it could be too much liquid mixed into the resin that's causing this? Thanks.

Hi, yes, too much, if it's the mold I think it is with 9 hearts, the edges are really shallow and need a lot longer to cure sometimes.

@@daniel..cooper Yes, that's the mold. Thank you for the answer. I will not be using the liquid translucent pigments again in this combo.

The blooms are beautiful! I haven't tried a bloom yet but I will definitely be trying with the thin layer. Also, what is the name of the clicky pressure thingy that you use to pop bubbles? Keep up the wonderful tutorials. ❤

Or did you mean the mini torch?
@MistyMoonCreations
@MistyMoonCreations 10 месяцев назад
Oh sorry. I didn't realize it was an actual torch. I thought it was a pressurized device that gave a burst of air to break the surface tension.
