18 Things That Had To Be BANNED In Disney World! 

If you are 7yrs old and hanging out at Disneyland I really hope someone over 14 is with you. Period.

“No rolling allowed in the parks.” Me: *Imagines curling up in a ball and rolling around the park* “This means no skateboards or rollerblades.” Me: ...Oh.

One time, Disney security made me change my shirt because it said “Bullet Club” on it. Bullet Club is the name of a wrestling faction. I didn’t have an extra shirt so I had to buy a new one. What made me more upset about the situation is that there were other guys wearing shirts talking about the first amendment and gun policies on it and nobody said anything to them. Seemed pretty ridiculous to me.

You also cannot make Toy Story actors fall to the ground anymore by saying "Andy/Bonnie's coming!"

Me:No fly zone! Aladdin:*looks at flying carpet* sh-

It annoys me so much when people VIDEO on dark rides with their flash on! It completely ruined my Tower of Terror ride last time :(

UPDATE: Since May 2019 smoking is no longer allowed INSIDE the park. The only time you can smoke is at the entrances in designated areas. Vaping is included in this rule.

Most of these are just common sense and totally understandable.

I got in a fight with my mother in law last time because she ran ahead of all of us to get on the Safari ride at animal kingdom. She jumped in line we couldn't figure out where she was and when we called her she told us to join her. I wouldn't let my kids do it so my father in law went and got her. She was so mad she would have to wait in a longer line but I told her it was rude to jump 6 people in front of a crowd. I was shocked since she is all about table manners and church and doing things the right way. Made for a really awkward day but I was not about to teach my kids they were somehow entitled to be ahead of these other people.

Lol back in the day my dad decided to film the matterhorn. It was the late 80's so it was one of those giant shoulder mounted vhs cameras.... No one stopped him or suggested that he no do so. Part way through the ride the sudden movement caused the hand strap the break and the camera fell from my dad's hands. Since its a fairly dark ride my dad thought the camera fell out of the car, fortunately he was wrong, it fell between his legs. So the footage from the camera was a few seconds of violent motion then the camera falling, my dad's shoes and him repeatedly screaming "I lost the f****** camera!" for the rest of the ride. He never filmed another ride after that.

All these rules are fair to keep a kid friendly environment

The no spreading ashes seems reasonable. Remember the end of the Big Lebowski when they spread the ashes at the beach, and its windy, and it all lands on the Dudes face. If you were in a rollercoaster I could see everyone on the coaster being covered by grandpa.

But can I tape my phone to a lightsaber as a makeshift selfie stick?

Disney parks are a place to leave the real world and enter adult childhood, let go and just have fun! lol don’t ruin it with politics. I understand why the signs and handouts are a rule

Nothing annoys me more than when someone uses flash throughout the entire ride, especially if the phone/camera is aimed right at my face.

I hope they ban phones on dark rides. I had a woman in the doom buggy ahead of me on her phone the entire time, and it completely ruined my experience of Haunted Mansion.

I'm SO HAPPY that Disney banned selfie sticks. Not only are they horrible when you're trying to watch a show and someone shoves one above your head, blocking your view, but I also worked at an amusement park and I only needed one day to hate the darn things: I used to airbrush t-shirts and people would watch me draw. For the most part I was fine with people recording me drawing, as long as I was asked. One day I was working on a couple of t-shirts for a family and suddenly I got the feeling that someone was peeking over my shoulder. I turn my head and there's a selfie stick poking behind my shoulder, recording me without my knowledge. Another selfie stick was poking behind the booth to get a look at our equipment. If I had been wearing a skirt, these kids could have easily gotten a shot of more than I wanted them to see. I tried my best to hide my anger and disgust in the moment, but afterward I became far more strict about selfie sticks and recording. Luckily the park I worked for doesn't have the same employee expectations as Disney, because there were days where I definitely wasn't "magical" in my reactions.

They all make sense. Especially no adult costumes, no masks. Safety first.

There was a time I had a duck stare me down for the food I was eating by the lake at Epcot. I knew the rules and wasn’t about to feed him. Told the Duck sorry but I couldn’t feed him, he tilts his head and waddles off. I had a couple taking a photo or film of that stare down and laughing. It was funny, and the employees were even enjoying the showdown, and the fact I followed the rules.

I remember when I was working there, I had a guest smoking literally UNDER the NO SMOKING sign in front of Stitch's Great Escape (yep, this was more than ten years ago). One of the rare times I was sarcastic to a guest (as this is something you can get fired for), the following exchange occurred: Me: Sir, there's no smoking in Disney parks except at designated smoking areas. I'll gladly escort you to the one in Tomorrowland. Guest: When can I smoke HERE? Me: *still smiling, with the same cheery tone* Sir, if you were on fire I would allow you to smoke in front of this attraction, however I would do my best to put you out. Guest: *takes a minute for the remark to sink in, then laughs, puts out his cigarette, and walks away*

You are also not allowed to do cheerleading stunts! A cheerleading competition happens once a year at the espn center and the teams sometimes go into the parks and want to get a photo doing a cool thing in front of the castle. However, this is not allowed, and if they continue after getting warned they can get disqualified from the competition or lose their title.

Disneyland took my adult safety whistle off my key-chain and confiscated it. So don't bring those either.

Line cutting is one of my biggest pet peeves. A few years back me and my dad got in line for space mountain and there were two people from one of the massive Brazilian tour groups in front of us and the rest of their 50+ person group tried to cut us to get to the two in front of us. We were not letting them through.

I absolutely loathe people cutting in line! 1 person will be in line and then 5-6 people will want to cut because they’re trying to get to their “family.” I’m a grumpy old man and will tell them that their family is welcome to come join them behind my family that have all been waiting patiently.

I was at Lake Compounce once and a guy was smoking: Security: "Can you put that out please" Guy: "nope" Security officers had to CHASE HIM DOWN to get him to put it out.

Taking a selfie stick on a roller coaster? I am always amazed by how reckless or stupid some travelers can be...

Top 3 that annoy me most as a WDW vet: 1: flash photography on the dark rides. (Stop Already) 2: line cutters. Wait until your entire party is there. This especially true when crowd levels are moderate to very high. 3: parade squatters. Man everyone had their spot for more than 30 minutes at least. Don’t go trying to force yourself in front. You’re looking for a confrontation with just about anyone doing that.

My aunt said we should take a “shortcut” to a ride, and she took us right through smokers alley😑. We had to walk all the way through and I held my breath

The "No Adult Cosplay" rule is probably why many on site resorts don't host comic/anime conventions.

I thought the costume part was weird right up until you said for safety reasons which makes sense! Great video :)

To be honest, a lot of these rules are found in other parks, such as Six Flags parks (ex. no rolling, running, etc, and I'm sure the spreading of ashes at other parks is also not allowed). It is nice to know you can bring outside food into the park though, because that's probably one of the biggest expenses when you visit Disney (most theme parks don't allow outside food at all). But many of the items, like no selling, are common almost everywhere.

When I worked in Soarin, it’s not uncommon for us to go down to the pit to retrieve a missing shoe 😂 another story i heard was that a kid kicked his shoe all the way onto the screen 🤣🤣🤣

Every one of these rules are actually reasonable. Public health, safety and environment. I'm sure Six Flags and Universal Studios have pretty much same rules.

When you say escorted off property do you mean out of Disney world or just that particular park?

the selfie stick ban is good. reason why, if you have one, you are on a ride and it breaks then your phone hits someone behind you. Well you just assaulted someone.

Gotta admit that there's nothing worse than line jumping, especially considering the crowds and lines that already exist. It's terribly inconsiderate to the folks who were sitting there waiting all that time-- especially when a group of 15 or more teenage girls try to join their two friends in front of you. Nope. Not gonna happen. But the group in front is more than welcome to join the group behind me.

Last time I was in Disney I was told that the reason selfie sticks were banned is that they can ruin the magic. People used them to see over over walls or on certain rides to see things that Disney did not want you seeing.

When it comes to "adults" (14+) wearing costumes: You are also not allowed to cosplay ANY disney character wearing outfits that the character wears in a movie/show or resemble face character outfits of any fashion. But you can be creative and wear clothing that reflect a character's personality, talents, or any iconic items (apple, snowflake, arrows, etc) related to the characters. This applies to SOME off-property Disney store locations as well.

Another controversial rule. No murder

You can't cut in line.....unless you pay extra for the right to cut in line.

READ THIS: One Time I brought a selfie stick to the security gate and they told me I had to go all the way back to my hotel to put it there. My hotel was pretty far away from the park so this took away about half an hour from my Disney vacation... 😡👎🏻

Not that I could ever afford to go there, but this was fun to watch.

Oh how I wish they would have escorted this man that was dropping the F bomb and using GD to a sweet college program cast member when I was there visiting my daughter who was a character attendant over the holidays. It was unbelievable!! He had to be in his 60s and talking like to a probably 20 year old (maybe younger) in front of kids waiting for a parade... I was so sad for her and shocked by his attitude. Don't go to Disney if you don't expect streets to be closed for parades a couple of times a day.

So many of these rules are broken and the CMs cannot do great deal about it because they encounter aggression from the guests involved. I told a guy to not smoke outside the Norwegian bakery last year and other guests thanked me and told me I was brave doing it, it's ridiculous that I'm considered brave for doing this. I wish they would crack down on smoking and vaping, there are enough places to go to to indulge in that filthy habit. I find it sad that there are way too many people who think the rules don't apply to them , the rules are there for our safety and to make our trips enjoyable for everyone. Society is just too entitled these days.
