I keep hearing about “ defensively “, warriors had the number 1 rated defense until draymond went out and still finished with the number 2 rated defense.
well when draymond got injured that was right around the time that the celtics started clicking. so who’s to say they wouldn’t have been #1 rated defense all year if they were playing how they played the second half the season
They’re 6th in defensive rating in the playoffs. That’s pretty bad considering they haven’t played anyone good. Raw stat wise they’ve allowed 8 more points / gm than BOS
@@SidelineSteve your smoking crack if you think playing against the 4th and 6th best offense are nobody’s not to mention the Mavericks who have had the the 5th best offense and the Nuggets who had the 3rd best offense in the last 15 games of the season. The nets blew your defense out of the water even if you guys locked up their stars you were winning because their defense was all types of garbage, you faced the bucks missing their 2nd leading scorer for a whole series and then the heat that were being carried by Jimmy Butlers 1 man show for the entire series. You can’t discredit the warriors they’ve faced the 2 best offensive teams in the playoffs in my eyes with Memphis and Dallas who just came off of 2 series where they torched their opposing teams.

Shaq was levelsssssss above Kobe at that point in their careers and just so obscenely dominant. Idk if we’ll see someone like him again, not just bc he’s a one of one, but the rules are so different as well as the game.

The thing that people fail to realize with the Jimmy shot is that he had played 48 min with an injured knee when the only other player on the Heat that was helping him was Bam. You go for the that shot ever time.
The reason why people criticise the shot was because Butler had an open lane for a 2 but chose the pull up jumper. Personally I don’t have a problem with him going for the win over the tie but bearing in mind Butler is not a great 3 point shooter it probably wasn’t the better option.
@@Banner-18 my point is that Jimmy was hurt and had played 46 minutes in game 6 and 48 in game 7 and now you want him to ply an extra 5 assuming he scores. The fact that the Heat were 25-45 fg with Jimmy and Bam and the rest of the team shot 12-43 and Jimmy is hurt and exhausted then I do like going for the kill. Jimmy shot well in the post season from 3.

But if he makes that 3 he’s a hero and the Heat are going to the finals. Big players take big chances. I’m not hating on him for trying to win the game.

If he’s not hurt and playing the whole game and the team is making shots I think he goes for the tie and overtime but in that scenario he went for the series. Which like you said big players go for big shots.
@@Banner-18 I understand what you’re saying and I get you don’t have an issue with the shot, but I think given the situation is was both the correct play given context and mathematically he doesn’t have to be that good from 3 for it to be better than a drive. Especially bc refs hate to blow the whistle in game deciding situations. Butler obviously isn’t a great 3P shooter, but he’s not as bad as ppl think. He barely takes them so they mostly tend to be end of shot clock shots, shots in desperation time, etc. When he actually shoots them when he’s not rushed and has every intention of shooting the 3 he’s actually solid. Especially bc MIA isn’t going to be a favorite in OT (Butler basically dead at that point from fatigue and injury, bunch of other factors) the tie needs to be way more efficient than the 3 ball since the 3 would end it essentially. I’d go even deeper bc there are even more factors that point to the 3 Bey f the best play mathematically, but this post is already too long and this happened months ago lmao. Plus it’s not like you’re saying he made some bad decision. Just think it was not only a decision you trust him to make, but actually the correct decision in every way. He just didn’t hit it. I don’t think impacting the NBA necessary means you have to change the game of basketball. That’s like saying Kobe didn’t impact the game because he didn’t change it. Impact does not necessary mean change. I think that’s what drew was arguing with the Larry bird take
There was Oscar Robertson before Magic Johnson, but I can’t think of a wing player before Larry Bird that had the all around skillset he did. I’m not sure why they were more focused on Bird being over Curry rather than Magic when it comes to changing the game and being the pioneer of a position/playstyle

Jimmy played the whole game in the LITERAL SENSE! He pulled up for the 3 to finish the game because he was tired. He wanted to end it because he wasn’t going to make it in OT.
Agree with the “we want the NETS to be better than they are”. Individually KD and Kyrie are great but as a team, they never had the time to build chemistry which is vital in the playoffs.
The Heat is really really good but during this series, they weren’t. They struggled a lot on getting production from the bench and they had a lot of injuries. So honestly you can’t really expect them to play well on defense and they weren’t consistent on offense to begin with. It was more surprising that Butler was able to carry them to game 7.
Jimmy played all 48 minutes. He was tired, so he didn't want to go to overtime. Ironically, I think the reason he missed that three is because he didn't have the legs under him since it hit the front of the rim.
Bird changed the game in terms of trash talk, 3-level scoring (no prior player who could score inside, make the mid and shoot the 3) and Stat Stuffing Point forward (24/10/6), no player before larry bird was as skilled, that is why doncic a generational talent is compared to him. This videos pretty old and I was just using it as background noise but the Larry Bird not changing the game is WILD. Yes Magic was the first big Point Guard but Bird is the first Point Forward. They ran the offense through him. The point about without Magic there’s no LeBron might have some truth, but in reality, LeBron plays like Bird. He’s just a freak there’re. Had he been more like Magic he would have just been a point guard not a point forward. Which is probably why LeBron has Bird higher on his personal all time list than Magic. Also they all agree that having a rule named after you is a huge amendment, but every player has something called “Bird Rights”. Love the Pod, but y’all were tripping on Bird not being impactful. Younger NBA fans are clue’s when it comes to Hakeem’s all time ranking and Lebron. Hakeem wasn’t considered the best center in the league until 93. Robinson and Ewing carried their teams further. Hakeem had to get a HOF player to barely make the playoffs in his second title season. Lebron is a no brainer top 10 player. But he’s not top 2. He has career losing record to Steph Curry(who’s played 6 less seasons). His finals record is going to age badly as well similar to Wilt/Russell. I do ultimately put Lebron in the top 5. But Curry will be top 7(Durant will end up top 10 as well).

In every big team sport in NA, for the most part, elite defense will beat elite offense. I'm with Drew here, Boston in 6 or 7. As much as I hate Boston, they have been the best team in the NBA going back well before the all-star game.

For me there’s two different ways to look at impact. For example you have players who changed the game of basketball and you have players who changed the league/NBA. Lebron, AI, Bird/Magic are some players that changed the league by changing player empowerment, or saving the League, etc. Curry, Dirk, Magic, Jordan changed the game and the way basketball was played. That’s how I look at it.

Bucks had an average regular season defense cos they won the chip last year so had a short offseason and didn't care about the regular season and coasted, their anchor in Brook Lopez was out the whole year. In the playoffs they're absolutely an elite defense that's how they won last year, Warriors are a great team defense but they just don't have the personnel to match Giannis, Jrue and Brook Lopez who are all 1st team all-defense caliber guys and play in a great defensive scheme. Why discredit what they did against the Bulls like they weren't a playoff team like everybody else? Miami played the 8 seeded Hawks and their defense wasn't as good
imo we need to drop how much accolades/resume weigh how good a player was. personally i don’t have wilt and russell in my top 10 because taking competition and volume into account, they don’t stack up as BASKETBALL PLAYERS to a guy like hakeem to me. just a thought. this is why i believe steph could shoot higher than 10.
