Definitely watch in the Original language it should be in with subtitles on. Different people on the boat speak different languages

@@reactingafool I haven't made time to rewatch the show with the English dub but I think some scenes later on make no sense dubbed. The communication barrier is a huge part of this show. And then again the English dub for DARK was simply rubbish altogether. The adult voice actors didn't have any directions given and completely botched it. So if you decide to watch DARK, I advise to go with the original audio and the proper English subs (oddly Netflix added German CC subs for season one and then for the second and third season they added English CC subs that were built from the English dub... and those are equally rubbish; so watch out to actively choose the proper subs when reaching season 2)

You should watch in VO, because the crew speak in their own languages and you're messing the important nuances of the passengers not able to communicate

@@qweasdzxc they do that everytime for foreign shows. Even if the Original is already English + mixed. English [original] is the mulitlingual one. The "intended" one. I dont even get why they dont put a Note at the beginning that this version is the intended one. In the Dubbed version everyone is speaking just one language. And in this show it makes no sense because there are scenes were they dont understand eachother and thats part of the whole show. 😛

NO SPOILERS: I just finished the final episode and it was fucking amazing. Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar are absolute madlads and did it again. I don't think anyone can predict the ending based on the information given during the course of the show. It definitely wasn't as big as a mindfuck as Dark was, still perfect though.

I've watched episodes 1-4 and so far... 1899 isn't as intricate or complex and confusing as Dark. Yet. It's still pretty bizarre and bewildering though.

@@masteronionnorth2341 well... depends on how much we understand yet. I wonder if Jantje made this show more or less obvious than DARK. It seems more direct but then again maybe we are just missing something that will make this season appear in a different light. I am currently trying to figure out if a theory I came up with holds up.

Watching this with dubbing is a BIG MISTAKE, it takes out a lot of fun from watching this with multiple languages and some clues are impossible to read like that. Definitelly watch with subtitles. I would even advise to go back and watch those episodes again

19:30 Yeah it does seem to be a scarab beetle... but as I am German I just recently learned of the difference of bugs vs beetles (we basically call them all just "Käfer") so I was under the impression that this was a scarab AND a bug.

1899 has no connection to Dark and yes... Dark is big. It's huge. Metaphysically insane. It's one of the most WTF TV series ever. And yup.... Pretty trippy opening for 1899. And did you notice that Maura's cabin room number was the same as that room in her dream?

I will be after season 2 probably based on what many book readers are telling me in terms of spoilers. They think after season 2 (maybe longer), that it would be safe to watch it without catching any spoilers from the movie. Can't wait for season 2 by the way, that show is so freaking good. :D

I take large issue with Netflix and the extensive Homosexual love scene throughout the Series. Sexual content warning is vague and not enough to justify what I was just put through. It's enough for me to stop supporting Netflix. I will not pay to be subjected to that crap. This is probably the third film I have watched in recent days that completely blind sides me with a Homoerotic scene.There should be a Homosexual scene warning next to rating in my opinion. so heterosexual males can make a choice to avoid the film all together. This is sad!
