Wow! Super, awesome work as usual, Bart. I'm sure Mr. Bugatti would approve, and probably hire you in a second! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Gday Bart, they really made things to last all them years ago, the new components you made looked absolutely beautiful, excellent job and video mate, Cheers
Just subscribed after seeing the new Okuma lathe video , I guess that lathe is working out well . Really beautifully done work ,looking forward to seeing whats next
Well done Bart! Neat to see how things were made. A suggestion on turning cast iron. Put the tool upside down in the holder and run the lathe in reverse. The chips will spray down into the chip pan. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. And yes, the goal the last year was fixing machines and tools. Still not done but getting there to have a functioning workshop. But the end goal is making parts and projects, like this one.
It won't be my new standard. And thanks for the feedback 👍. Making video and talking in the proces takes a long time. Not everyone realizes how much this cost. I didn't plan to make this video when I started this project. And I didn't have the time to talk during the proces. I also missed some video when I was machining so had to use some more photos then I normal have. Still hope you enjoyed the video and project.
When I saw that your square block when heat treated no longer fit on the tapered shaft. It is because the part that is heat treated actually grows. I worked in the tool making industry for years with all sorts of tool steels. All parts that were going to be heat treated we had to take into account the amount of growth that would happen. In our case all the surfaces were ground to spec afterwards.
Yes 👍. I expected it to grow a little but not that much. The taper is less then one degree so it shifted its position around 3 mm. I had 1 mm to compensate but that was not enough. Good learning experience.
Good to see you making chips again, Bart - when you made that Bugatti logo 6months ago I had no idea that you would make actual Bugatti parts - how exciting! Tidy work here, and well presented! But why not talk any more? Either way, always a pleasure to see your videos, and glad your workshop is suiting your needs!
Thanks. Yes sometimes I make classic car parts. I enjoy it a lot. No talking was just for this video. I didn't plan to make a video so I didn't talk during the proces. But I will be talking again in the next video 😁👍
@@bartharkemametalworks2299 Don’t get me wrong - the video was perfectly fine. I just had to pay more attention to the subtitles, normally my mind wanders all over the place ;) Those classic car parts, do they go into actual driving antiques? That would be the best for me, to have one of those go spluttering by knowing that it runs on a piece that I made!
