After I bought a Huvema 712 BSG bandsaw I found out that the cast iron frame had a crack and some bad repair work. I TIG welded it back together with 316 stainless steel wire and made a support frame to fix the weak point in the design.
Hi Bart, hope you are well. Super repair work on your new toy. Bart: 'Yeah, I'm pretty good with a hammer, so I made it fit!' ....Haha!. That just made my day. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Good job,Bart. I would have done very much the same repair with the steel reinforcement strong back bolted in place. One thing I would do differently is using epoxy metal paste to bed the repair piece more uniformly to the casting before tightening the fixing sctews/bolts. This ensures you get as near 100 percent contact face between the two items. Good job all the same. Glad it turned out good👌
Bart, nice repair job on the saw, My German colleague sent me a few cans of the marlax last year for the restoration on my shaper and that product is amazing, Thanks for sharing, Prost.
RU-vid Good. Of the land have me the idea for a table for the bandsaw that was simple. Fast.removable and cheap 2 inch square tube welder into 90 degrees stuck into the vise and more tube under the table you can make table any size you want no bolts just slip into your vise tighten and use.
Yes i was thinking about the same idea! But I will also fix it to the frame with some sort of quick lock system because the frame is not very stable in vertical position.
