Do not worry about how rough it is This pickup looks like you should finish it as video gold. Us youtubers like stuff that shows it has lived a life before, as a truck that some of us remember in our youth as farm trucks.

Nifty, quickie-build! There IS a payoff when you pick up random goodies at regional swap meets and auctions. Someone is gonna buy that sooner than later. You'll have 'em at "nail-head". YES! to more of this mini-adventure, which will only serve to "up the ante" on this sweet rig. Cheers!!!

A long time subscriber, I have to say as someone who can’t see, I love the way you narrate everything you do, everything you see, everything you've about to do or work on on a vehicle. You and vice grip garage are two of my favorites on here. Love watching you make history fire up and run again, or the attempts. Always a great sense of humor and you never give up. Keep it up with the so called useless knowledge and tips of the day. Sad that so many things are gone now. Vehicles just lack the character these days, even to me. I found an old Grand wagoneer in a junkyard during high school and that was my school project. Nobody expected a blind guy to be able to do anything in the shop. Next thing I knew everyone in high school with no car but a license was my best friend. Those were the days.

I was a transmission rebuilder back in t⁰he day. The transmission you called a "Saginaw" is actually called a "Light Duty" 3 speed. 1st gear is not synchronized and has 4 bolts that hold down the shifter cover. It was used in many makes of GM vehicles, including 1/2 ton trucks. Tail shaft/housing configuration changed depending on application, ie short shaft, long shaft, sealed driveline housing and flange types. The later model Saginaw 3 speed is syndro'd on 1st gear and has a larger shifter cover with more bolts. GM also made an OD version of both of these transmissions. They also made a 4 speed Saginaw.

This project is interesting. I told you a long time ago save up the trailers that are made from pickups, they may come handy. Was right with that one cause some of these boxes not so easy to find. What would you use for a radiator? The stock Ford one or something else? I'm sure someone would be mad for cutting up a 30s car but than again unless it was your grandpas very first car. Restoring one back to what it was can be more pain then it's worth.

You did reasl good on your frame lesson - The biggest problem with these early X member frames was at the rear because the X is fitted into the frame rails which caused a real rusting issue, where as 41 and up they reversed that C channel into a box type, plus they are longer and wider - so needless to say I had to make a lot of mods on my 40 Ford frame work.

Such a great start for a nice little hot rod. Good bones to start with, a good frame, a running engine, a truck bed, a cab, etc.. what else can you ask for. This is for the masses. It would great to see you finish it and be able to drive it on the highway & a weekend cruiser.

@raimoe4512.....?? ...what is "walla" ?....half of Walla Walla ( Washington ? )......or, are you stupid and don't know how to spell the French exclamation, vio'la' ?? ( which is a loose translation to - "so, there you go" ! ) I hate stupid people..........

These Buick Nailheads were put into Rovers and some MGs (UK) until the late 1990s, they must be not too bad! Nice attempted build to show up on your channel, mate.
