Thank you for your videos you are very knowledgeable and hit all the little helpful hints on what’s going on when taking apart I appreciate that looking forward to you putting it back together I guess in part seven, I have a 4098N with a rear axle leaking on the right side and I just got the brake hub off and it took forever I could not spin the tension gear loose and the brake or binding on the hub took about two hours to get it off. Looking forward to your next video thank you😃

I love that you put a torch to the brake shoes! Many moons ago (in the 80's) I had a GMC dually & the rear axle seal surface was boogered up & had had a ready sleeve installed, every few months as the seal wore out it would douse the left rear brake shoes in gear lube, after buying 2 sets of shoes (so I could clean one while using the other) I would clean them with brakekleen & burn them with a torch, my brothers said it wouldn't work but it worked just fine and I got to where I could disassemble, clean the drum & change the shoes & seal in 40 min. AHHH the good ole days! lol

Hi Kevin for starters let me just say awesome haircut I love a brush cut for myself as well I my thermostat runs way too hot especially in summer but I really like how organized you are and I appreciate the tip about using oven cleaner! And the brake shoes tip I will definitely be using the torch on mine that’s great! Carry on Canada 🇨🇦

I had rock star hair and a Fu-Manchu for a long time but it was way too much work. And Keith, I remember your previous question. Stay tuned, we'll be doing the input seal on this one.

Do they make a cast iron brake drum for a 48 8n? Im thinking that my drums are going whopper jawed when stepping on the brakes. Is that possible? Or am I missing something else?

All the 8N drums I've ever seen are steel. Some of them can be pretty out of round. But they're hard to cut because they're steel.

Is it ok to pressure wash it with the trans gears inside like that? Was trying to decide if I should open mine all up before I pressure wash it again. I want to get all if any sludge out.

If you leave the plugs out you can get down in there w a power washer and get a lot of it out then spray everything down w WD40 or something to stop it rusting.

Kevin, I have a '52 8N that I am refurbishing and love the quality of your videos! One question: I want to remove both rear axle trumpet housings before painting so the joints between the rear housing & the axle trumpet housing(s) are not caked with paint. That said, if I remove both rear axle trumpet houses - you stated that the rear gears will come out with the left trumpet housing? How hard will it be to re-set the gears in place when I go to reinstall the axle trumpet housing? Thank you!!

Its easy enough. If you can tilt it over to the right some it helps keep it in . Put the right side trumpet back on first, then shove the right axle in to help hold it in. WEAR SAFETY SHOES!!!!
