That New York dress pattern 812 with the peplum is something I could've used as office wear in the 90s. Stylish and dignified at the same time. Lovely design for a mature woman.

Whoever made that scalloped hem on that wedding dress was the most patient seamstress ever!

I was there. Today’s crop top was the a midriff. The sack dress was all we wore for daytime for two years, I do not joke. I graduated from high school in 1960. I wore most of those things, my mother wore the rest.

I wore the two-tier child’s dress in pink dotted Swiss as a flower girt at my uncle’s wedding. I was terribly disappointed that the bride chose the short version rather than the longer one. That winter my mom made me the fitted coat with the wide skirt and matching cap in navy wool, almost certainly cut down from an adult coat. I had a white rabbit fur muff to complete the outfit.

Doing a binge and find it funny that you are claiming in this video that it would take forever to go through all of these patterns , it can't be done. If only past Stephanie knew people are willing to watch you go through patterns for over 2 hours...

OMG, I lived thru the 50's and I hated the styles then, and feel exactly the same now. Love the 40's and 60's. Each to her own I guess.

Agreed to each their own! I do enjoy some of the silhouettes from both of those eras.

7801 with the drop gathering I think was made that way so it could be worn with an apron. I understand you were surprised about people watching your videos. The reason is Noel, farmgurl scavenger, shared you out in a couple of her video classes.

Advance 7801 looks inspired from an mid - 18th century dress, which would have had panniers and a deep flounce on the petticoat... but - - choices, I guess.

That was fun! That "butterfly dress" looked more like a cocoon at the back. I think my favourite was the very last dress. All the dress patterns are gorgeous but wer would you wear them.

Trouncing around in full "skirts " as a little one is definitely a doable thing , if you're raised with it . ( Or if you as a weird little kid, are into the flood of it all , and just have a literal tutorial in how not to murder yourself lol) . Spent decades in living history circles . We had way more trouble getting the young ones hair tamed ha ha ha .

You ever come across a pattern video that you know you've seen before, because the like button is still pushed, but you may as well never have seen it before because you see all kinds of new (to you) patterns that send you down a rabbit hole in which you go to the seller's site and promptly forget what you were looking for specifically, but it doesn't matter because now you looking for several things, and nothing in particular? No? Yeah, neither have I.

Another AWESOME and VERY interesting video. (If I lived close to you, you would never get rid of me LOL). You have absolutely grand collection and you're funny ! I subscribed. Thank you :-) P.S. I had a peek at your website....WOW! I'm so jealous! (in a kind way!). I'm actually looking for 1930s-40s sailor shorts (high waisted with side buttons). Maybe I'll find it in your website.

I have an addiction to patterns. But I don't have "vintage" I have a lot of 80's and I refuse to call those vintage because that would make me old. i don't think vintage patterns came in plus sizes
@StephanieCanada
@StephanieCanada 4 года назад
I love vintage patterns too, but I get my fill by having them for a little while then sending them on to loving homes. And vintage patterns did come in plus sizes (now not all of them, but they were still available). i have personally seen up to bust 56". 😀

I have an early to mid 1940s pattern that, on the envelope, says "Styled by Louise Scott," though I have no idea who she was.

Trust me!! I have trying to figure that out for over a year now. I have two drawers of vintage New York’s and a bunch of them say that. It seems like this company just disappeared 👻

I was born early in 1950 so I lived through the whole, mostly dull, time period. I never saw a poodle skirt, not even on American Bandstand. I don't know why poodle skirts have come to define the 1950's era. While the year printed on Vogue pattern # 7088 did say 1950, the book you showed it displayed in was dated 1951 so maybe you didn't miss that year after all.
