1957 DeSoto Sportsman Fireflite | Wheels 'n Windmills | Danish Capital of America - Solvang, CA 

We visited Solvang back in 1978 and loved the pastries from the bakeries! We stayed at the nearby Madonna Inn, and had Anderson's split pea soup in Buellton, Love this car show!

That Mercury was Badass!!

My first car was a 1957 Desoto same model, only in salmon and white with 54,000 miles.. Purchased used in 1965 for $230.

I was born in 1956 and these magnificent machines were still on the road for a few years as I was growing up in the 60s. There were even a few '55s around. They were all beautiful cars. It's a shame that American car manufacturers and so called "engineers" can't make cars with class and style anymore.

That Merc is absolutely perfect!

It's hard to imagine that a Ford Coyote engine is such a tight fit in that 62 Mercury. Full size Ford/Mercury's had a huge engine bay. Love the DeSoto!!

I once lived in Danish Disneyland (Solvang) about 40 years ago and I can recognize most of the shops along the main street. Even back then the town was a car club event Mecca. It is very weird that so little has changed. The Santa Ynez valley that Solvang sits in is a millionaires retreat.

Use to drive my '72 RS/SS Camaro through there many years ago. Only car shows back then were Pismo Beach and Paso Robles once a year.

I'm from denmark, and that place is like calling disney world an accurate copy of detroit:) It looks like they found some old postcards from germany and holland in the year 1800, and tried to build it in real life. But to be honest they are still better off, the real denmark is just crappy weather, high gas prices, and small euro-cars due to a 300% tax on anything fun. (asylum in solvang wanted please, will work for smørrebrød)

The De Soto what is the star of the show

The Morris 8 van is nor really 8 horse power. This engine was RAC rated as 8hp for British road taxation purposes. They worked on a peculiar formula to work out their HP ratings.... the formula encouraging the developement of long stroke , small bore engines. The first " oversquare" engine Ford fitted in their cars was the 997cc ohv in the 1959 Ford Anglia..... the British government having moved to an equal road ta rating for all private cars, whatever their engine size. The Morris 8 van was about 28 BHP.

On the last car, the 57 DeSoto, they have sportsman and fireflite wrong. It was always "DeSoto fireflite" since '55, with "sportsman" being just a trim level, if I'm correct. Kinda confusing with badge placement

Only problem is that the video should be longer 🤓more cars 🚗🚙and trucks 🚚🚛🚘🦐👍🏼

Love the DeSoto, but it's a shame what the guy did to the Plymouth. It looked like it was perfectly restored on the pic he showed....
