For SURE it's nuts !!! A couple of weeks ago, I "scored" a heavy duty "foreign made" 4' stomp shear for $250.00 on Marketplace. Like your son, I am severely "running out of space so I want to put this heavy (probably 500 pounds for sure) tool on casters. Bought some 3.5" steel casters on Amazon for +- $50.00 and went to the steel place today to purchase some heavy duty angle for mounting the wheels. 4" X 4" X 3/8" X 4', and a short piece of 4" X 6" X 33" (all short pieces so no cutting charges along with a 20' stick of 3/4" square 1/16 wall tubing. Cost me $174.00 out the door. That and the wheels almost doubled the cost of the tool. ;o( I have been doing some sheet metal fab recently to prepare for upholstery panels (door panels, kick panels, firewall pad) and am REALLY enjoying the sheer. ;o)
Andy thanks for sharing this build.. I have been wanting to make something to bend up sheet metal and this might just be the answer I've been looking for.... Thanks !
That price for steel is on par with here in Australia, approximately $25 per meter ( approx 3 feet ) thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Some great ingenuity. Works really well. The auto-focus on the camera or phone really makes it difficult to watch at times. Looks really nice. Look forward to seeing it in action. Be safe and stay well.
Hey Brian. Thanks for dropping by the Dog House. Yeah, I got a new phone and I hate the auto-focus. I have to try and figure out if I can change that or not. I really hate it.
Made from scrap! My favorite subject. That turned out really well Andy. Nice work! Now go have a beer 😁. I’m seeing lots of Ontario plates in our area.
Hey Chafa. I would like to see yours. I have 2 service manuals for the 1940 Buick. It shows everything in there. All the wiring, brakes, interior. You name it. I dropped over to your channel to see your Buick. No Buick, just art. Your art is very nice but show your car. I would be interested in seeing it. Be safe.
I did something similar. 4 feet. Didnt sand the edge, will do it next time i set it up. Mine’s a heavy pig, i hate lifting it. It an I-beam instead of a c-channel, i plan on putting it on a diet.
Hey Frank. Thanks for dropping by the Dog House. I wanted it lightweight so I could move it out of the way when not needed. Grinding the edge will give you a nice bend.
Hey Gary. Thanks for dropping by the Dog House. Yeah, it bends straight and clean because I ground the edge of the bending side of the angle iron. See timer at 4:30 minutes. The heavier the angle iron, the heavier the sheet that you can bend.
