My dad had two A60 estates in the sixties going into the seventies. A 1965 and 1968 looking at this brings back great memories.

My grand father had one of these in black. My dad borrowed it to drive us up to Thurso from Lancashire when I was 4 years old, I'm 61 now and remember the trip like it was yesterday. My grandfather even used to sit me on his knee and let me steer the car around in the local park car park. My very first experience of driving a car 😍

I have a 1963 Austin Cambridge that was stored for 40 years. In great original condition. It is a great car and really under appreciated.

IT, is like riding around on a sofa , of times gone by , petrol at 5 shillings a gallon and a mans wages of £15 . Keep making these videos .

This is the identical colour and year of manufacture to my father's A60. He bought it after two A110 Westminsters (Mk I and II) because my mother said the Westminster was too big and heavy. We went on holiday to Pitlochry in it with family friends who had the equivalent Morris Oxford in maroon. The Oxford didn't have the Adidas stripe down the side and it had different rear light clusters but it was the same car really. We didn't have it for long because my father bought a new car every year.

If I lived in GB in the 1980s I would have had one of these or a Morris Traveller - they were bargains then...I like my motoring cheap, cheerful and free of fuss. What a gem.

My favourite uncle dave had an identical one to this a 63 pre index , great great memories of trips out in this car in the early 1970s the dash was fake wood as he had a magnetic st Christopher between the two dials and a skeleton key ring hanging from the rear view mirror. I miss you dave ,RIP.😢

My Dad had at least two of these Austin Cambridges and he loved them, we Waxoiled them every year!!! Then he bought an Austin 3 litre when it came out, shame the stupid self levelling suspension NEVER worked!!! Engine was great tho....

Dad bought a 1962 A60 and the sills were holed and front outriggers corroded through after three years. King pins and front shocks followed the following year at 45000 miles. The build quality of BMC was so hit and miss but as you say a smart comfortable car. This one you have probably wasn't made on the same shift!

Totally agree - leave it ‘as is’. Arrest what’s already happened and no more. Every spot of rust and imperfection is part of its history, it’s story.

I had a 1962 Oxford in the late 60’s, luxurious car compared to my brothers Consul 375. Well I thought so anyway 😀 Petrol was 4 shillings and 9 pence as I remember and my wages at 21 were 6 shillings per hour = £12 a week. I thought I was rich back then 🤣

Beautiful car !!! ... Back around 2002 a motor trader (great bloke) bought the Austin Cambridge (Morris Oxford) owned by Winston Churchill !!! ... I opened the drivers door and looked in and wondered about the gentlemans life ??? ... I need not have bothered as something "booted" me right up the ass !!! ... I swear the story is true. MANY THANKS

I'm so in-tune with this guy, absolutely agree with everything he says, you can over restore cars like this and they lose a lot of their magic.

Ken and Lynn could probably match the colours in cellulose paint so then small areas of the car could be blown in especially using an airbrush or a small spray gun

Old gentleman's car. The earliest cars 1959-61 have bigger tail fins that are the same as the estates.

For some strange reason, never liked the Austin variant but I loved the Morris Oxford which seemed a bit more upmarket. In fact, I think the Oxford was the best of the lot but I can understand why some would disagree.

Just a suggestion for these otherwise excellent videos...get a radio mike. They're not expensive these days and would help the viewer a lot. Just trying to be helpful!

Why, oh why, can't cars nowadays have bonnets held open with a locking strut mechanism instead of having a silly wire prop to keep them open?🐨
