Well, our build is not a total loss like most of the others but the parts car was so that counts, right? The last restomod I built was before building restomods was cool. A lot has changed so let's see if I can do it again. My last one was a success in making it run but I lost interest before it got completed. I now have a good team behind me so hopefully we can see this through to the end. I have not turned a single bolt yet and I have a long list of issues I have already encountered in my head. All I know is that if the drivetrain ran in the 2015 Mustang, it has everything I need to make it run in the 1965 Mustang. #coyoteswap #mustang #restomod

Thanks, it will be a while. It is not a job I intend on turn a profit on so there is no rush. I specifically wanted a convertible....... I think I'm getting old! 😳

You are going to love the Coyote. Biggest challenges will be to fit it under the hood. You are aware of that. Porting the PCM to the older mustang might be a challenge. You want all the goodies in the latest mustangs in the older one, you will need a CAN bus. You might consider a PCM that comes with a crate Coyote. Good luck! I’m looking forward to this build! You are a smart guy, surprise me. It can be done.

My sister has that same spec 65 convertible mustang but red with a 4 speed. It's what i learned to drive a stickshift in when i got my drivers license back in the mid 90s. Im not really a ford guy but i have a soft spot for the 65 mustang for sentimental reasons. Really looking forward to this build!

I love what you do. Have learned a lot. But am more excited to see this project by far. I have a 70 f100 short bed. And am shopping for a donor coyote motor. And want to keep everything I can to make it nice and peppy. Thanks for sharing.

Each person likes a different brand vehicle. Some prefer Chevy some prefer Cadillac some prefer Dodge some prefer Ford. It doesn't mean that one brand is better than the other. To each his own!!!!!!!!

I'm a big burnout fan, you are very precise with those donuts. I was shutdown by EPA decades ago for burning rubber... Something to do with Global warming. I forecast fabrication and welding for this build since you are not bolting on kits. Nothing but a walk in the park with your skill. Personally, I think the 65 mustang looks a lot better than the later models.The Mustangs from 60's / 70's have more character. Looking forward to this build.

@@vehcor True. More safety in newer cars, but they just dont have the buzz the old ones have. Most cars look alike these days. At least in the 60's and 70's, you could tell what car was driving down the road by looking at it. Now-a-days, you have to look at the badge. lol.

I was in Portland about this time last year. Was totally amazed by the number of old, early 70's, Ford pickup trucks parked on the streets. I hadn't seen one that old in forever. Old cars everywhere. My first car project was to take a 260 v8 out of a 65 mustang and put it in my 65 which had the 200 six. The parts car that had the 260 in it was a convertible. I cut it in half and buried it!

Awww Yeah. I was hoping you would do a car/truck/whatever makeover like this! I loved the west coast customs builds where they swap the whole body onto a new car, but this build of yours has me really excited also (non-monotone voice). I am not a Ford lover (had a few, they all had wiring issues and carb issues), but that 'Vert just cant be passed up! I really hope you DO finish this one, because I want to see the bad boy rollin on that classy chasis! :)

You’ve hit the sweet spot for me. Chevy trucks and 64-66 mustangs.. I have a 66 conv , had it for about 40 yrs. It’s a 10 footer (from 10’ it looks great). Good luck I’ll be watching...

@@vehcor I've got a f150 with a 5L engine. i love it! i use to own Silverados but had problems with the 5.3L engine knocking & my wife's Silverado, the rod bearing no. 6 cylinder give way with only 80k miles. I had enough with Chevys.

Nice!!! I would love to do the same with a 65 fastback like my dad bought new, when I was born, as a "family car"! I briefly thought about putting my 16 GT drivetrain in my 87 Mustang if I couldn't get it rebuilt, but luckily I was able to. Looking forward to seeing this project completed!!!
