1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Junkyard Find. Another old Ford makes its way into rhe yard and this time its a 67 galaxie 500 4 door with a 390 FE big block. Well the yard pulled the 390 and was selling it if I'm not mistaken. This old more door Ford came into the yard pretty much all there minus the back glass. in its place was a broken plexiglass. The interior was rough but all there as well. The exterior was pretty straight without much rust but looked bad on account of the bad primer job. Looks like another abandoned project to me. Anyhow there were still some good parts on this one ams I took the FE frame mounts for @Limpy817 on RU-vid if you wanna check out his channel.

My first car-mine had the little 289-that's good because it was too slow to get a ticket! The frame rotted out and it had to go-thanks for showing this to us!

My brother has the same car but with a 289. Bought it from a farmer in Iowa 15 years ago. Great car. Real fun to cruise around in. I've been watching the original tv show, Hawaii 5-0 lately, all the cops drive these but mostly 65-66 models is what I've seen so far. Mcgarett drives the Mercury version, a real beauty.

Man, seeing that dash up close like that took me right back to my childhood! We had a brand new ‘67 Country Squire wagon when I was a kid and I remember every little ridge, chrome piece and knob on that thing. I remember that big beautiful steering wheel with the horn ring and the crown emblem in the middle, the hubcap centers had ‘em too!

You will notice there is a cover plate in the door jamb just above each front door latch assembly. These are meant for LTD's and comparable upper level Mercuries only. Those models came with the "Comfort Stream" ventilation system as standard equipment. In place of the plate, those cars had a vent with a rubber one-way flapper over it. And, the inside front door panels had air exit vents that looked like stereo speaker grills. And, upper level cars which were ordered without A/C got a fan forced high level power vent system. Lower level Fords and Mercuries did not get these door air extractor vents or the power ventilation system. The "Comfort Stream" system was a variation of the "Silent Flo" system seen mostly on mid to late 1960's Thunderbirds, but also on '65 and '66 Ford 4 door hardtops and some 4 door '67 Mercuries. That system had air exhaust vents below the rear window and on the inside rear window shelf. A vacuum damper (which could be opened or closed from the driver's seat) controlled air flow. By 1970, as standard equipment, most Fords had built in dash vents and air extractor grills in the car body portion of the door jambs, providing some change of air in the passenger compartment. This system was usually referred to as "Direct Aire". Chevrolet had a competitive "Astro Ventilation" system that in later years turned on the heater fan whenever the car was started. These systems were initially promoted as a way to clear tobacco smoke from the car interior without rolling down the side windows or opening the vent windows. In later years, they were seen as somewhat of a vent window replacement and also as a way to help prevent the buildup of dangerous carbon monoxide gas in the interior.

Whoa Nelley, it's the book, and that's all it took. We got the VIN, and we win, here we go: 7 for 1967 model year, D for Dallas, TX assembly (which was located at 5200 Grand Ave, and closed in 1970), 54 for four door Galaxie 500 with bench seat, H for 390 V8 with two barrel and the rest is the production sequence. We got the tag, we can brag: 54A on the body is Galaxie 500 four door, color of W is Medium Aqua exterior paint, 5A for black interior trim, date of 15L Is November 15, 1966 production, which was a Tuesday, DSO 61 is Dallas, TX sales district, looks like 6 on the axle which is 2.80:1 non locking, possible Y on the transmission which is MX automatic. The Dallas, TX assembly plant used to put stickers to the effect of "Made in Texas by Texans", which is what GM does/did in their Arlington, TX assembly plant. Whoa Nelley, the mud makes it a dud. 390, gotta go. Made in the Lone Star State, not so great. 1967 and going to Heaven. Wasn't too cheap, now it's a heap. Going to be flat, that's that. Galaxie to the stars, not going very far. Going to get squished, get the parts you want, or you'll be pissed.

@@garymckee8857 You are correct. My 2009 G6 convertible has a similar "Pride of Lake Orion" (for Lake Orion, MI assembly) decal on the door, with the UAW local number on it. I actually have spares---I wrote to the union and an official sent me a bunch of them.

1967 was a special year for Ford. First year of the collapsible steering column if I'm correct as well as an early version of an airbag with a center cushion. Hope you kept the owner's manual, it's mint! The radio looks clean as well, I don't want it to get sent to China for the metal. The hubcaps are worth taking if the trunk opened, it's a nice full set! It's a solid car, it just LOOKS bad. If it was painted, I bet it would've sold on Craigslist/FB Marketplace

Actually, '68 was the first year of the collapsible steering column. Most '67's had the padded center hub but to the best of my knowledge, the column was not collapsible..

My grandparents last new one was a 69. These were great family cars and could come in a two door. They held the highway really good too. For years the galaxy was leader in the market.

Great find! Looks very, very clean and rust free! Naw, I'm kidding on that part, but I suppose it can be technically a survivor and it would make a great restoration challenge for those that like challenges; even when other people might say it's long gone as motivation!

Other than the 9-inch rear I don't know what demand there is for these. I have an NOS taillight bezel/end cap I got somewhere that I've had on eBay with no interest at all.
@googleusergp
@googleusergp 3 года назад
Make sure you're selling internationally, as I have sold some odd parts to people in Europe and around the world. However with the way that Ebay does their Global Shipping Program now, it really costs the buyer some serious wood. All we in the US have to do is to get to it to the Ebay (Pitney Bowes) shipping center in Erlanger, KY. They take care of the rest.
@CR7659
@CR7659 3 года назад
@@googleusergp Even with international shipping I couldn't raise any interest. I just don't think many people appreciate these cars yet. Or on this particular piece there's not much call because it's a cast part and not too hard to find used.

Hey classic I've been a fan of yours for about a year and went on livestreams etc. I was wondering if you could tell me your opinion on this; I just bought a 1996 camaro 3.8 for 1050 dollars,it's in red with T-tops and in ok condition. Problem is it doesn't run,kinda like your 89 formula. So what do you think it could be? There's compression and air, and (I think) timing. I don't know about fuel and spark so I am asking for some diagnosis help and if I just bought a lemon
@googleusergp
@googleusergp 3 года назад
You need spark, air (compression) and fuel in the right amounts at the right time. If not, it will never run as you know. Check what you're lacking and there's your problem.
@adamspitfire

@@adamspitfire No. I suggest you look through You Tube or join a FB group for your car. You will find more info on how to fix it there. If you shotgun and replace parts, you will still have a non running car with new parts.
