Just how RARE is a 1967 K-code HiPo Mustang? Get ready for a shocker. In this video I discuss the Unicorn rarity of the last year HiPo K-code. See three of the best and rarest examples of the already ultra rare 67 K-codes all under one roof including the ultra rare one of only 50 ever built 1967 HiPo convertibles. This is one of three videos of this incredibly rare grouping. The next video will be of the original paint, one owner Candyapple Red fastback known as the Colonel with the final video being of the Lime Gold former sub 13 second Drag Race car. It is unlikely that three such notable 1967 K-codes will ever be in the same spot again …. Enjoy the rarified air.

When I was 18 I ordered a 1966 K-Code arcadia blue 4 speed GT coupe. I put a lot of 1/4 mile street racing on that car. God I wish I still had it !!!

You guys kill me. I’m an old man now and doubt I ever get the money to buy one of your cars, but thanks so much for you giving Someone the chance to know how this feels. They can’t duplicate this feeling nowhere. Much appreciation for what y’all do.

I am surprised you did not mention the “birth” of the Hipo was in 1963. Less than 200 with around 77 still on the road. Got an ultra rare late 63 Hipo with a stock 1964 block. Aka-No oil fill tube. It’s filled through the valve cover. Sn60 Paxton Roller rockers Windage screen Crank scraper 750 Holly double pumper. The internals are stock 390-400 Hp 411 limited slip Electronic cutouts Originality kept true to form. Thanks Carroll Runs like a scalded dog.

The true unicorn of the 67 K-Codes are the 26 white coupes that went to Shelby for conversion into Group 2 (TransAm/A Sedan) race cars. Were not titled as Shelby’s, just 26 little white coupes with R-Model under pinnings.

You are exactly right! That little GT spanked many unexpecting AMC GM and Mopar cars back in the day on Telegraph Road in Michigan. I was passenger and belt/wrench man for my good friend, the second owner of that car. The supercharger made a whine that was suspious to some stoplight racers in stock sounding muscle cars so the belt was often off. The car had headers, dual plane intake and carburetor modifications. Quick and fast. If we weren't sure if we we running against a 383 or 440 Mopar or a 389, 400, 455, 396 or 454 GM we would pull of the road behind a gas station and pop the belt on in about 15 seconds then catch our race a light or two down the road. After being stung by the "Bumble Bee" GT we were accused of having a 427 transplanted engine because "none of the 390GT cars they every encountered were that fast". Yes, those were the days! I'm glad to see this car that I almost owned in the early '80's was properly restored and built in the first place. Many good memories and boy if cars could talk! That one has great stories!

Nice history lesson Michael. Did not know about the suspension pkg. with the special wheel covers. As I bleed blue its nice to learn more facts about the Blue Oval. Good Health.

Thank you Randy. Yep, the Comp-Suspension is the 4-leaf cover of options where rarity is concerned. This is the 2nd one I have had with that option and on the first one I had to research to find out what it was all about. Cheers

I know of someone that has Brittany blue ‘67 K-GT Convertible 6th of 472 made that year, however, unfortunately it doesn’t have engine or transmission at this point. I can’t say who, nor where it is for security purposes due to thieves out there. Please understand this reason

Michael- Is The lime green car coming up for sale soon? Did you save the rocker molding with vintage race stickers?
@QualityClassics
@QualityClassics 2 года назад
there is evidence of vintage stickers having been on the car, and others remain under the hood and trunk area .... VERY COOL

As he say's, 50 all up convertible hi po's. 34 are 4 speeds, well, that makes 16 auto's even rarer and the 34 4 spds quite common.

any 390 410 427 or 428 is easy installed in a 67 to 70...no reason to use a 289 anymore...all of them are capable of 400 hp or more.mopars gtos and all the rest had big cubic inch engines available from 67 up.
@QualityClassics

That seemed to be the logic .... although a rare prepared 289 is going to give a good fight
@jmsjms296
@jmsjms296 Год назад
Wrong. 289 surely handles better.

I can about guarantee you this is the only performance one in springtime yellow?? That yellow is horrible.

Why not say High Performance instead of the ANNOYING "HiPo's" phrase?
