The '68 is back!! I have been meaning to wake up my Impala for some spring cruising and just haven't found the time. Well weatherman says major chance of hail over night/ tomorrow so it's time to get this thing up and moving to cover!! To make things more fun, my fuel pump has bit the dust, so going to swap that out, take the Impala for a drive, and update yall on the C10, LS swap, things like that.
If your new to the channel and want more back story on the Impala, please check out it's dedicated playlist. I will be having more and more Impala vids as I get my C10 LS Swap worked out.
As always I really appreciate yall taking the time to watch. Please leave a comment, I try and reply often as I can. And of course a like and subscribe would really help a car guy out if you're able.

sure is a honey. would have never looked twice at a 4 door back in the day, but now I like them and have a couple! my parents had a '68 Malibu sport coupe when i was a kid...a lot of the trim and style is very similar, although a smaller car of course.

I like how You think and keep it old school original! Past things like 4bbl intake and carb, headers and maybe a cam at most. And the Corvette rallies really make your car look sweet. These cars were not made for low profile tires, rims, dropped suspension..to each his own but it ruins them. They should be left like your 68 Impala. Nice car to keep for life
@CLASSICSAREBETTER
@CLASSICSAREBETTER 2 года назад
Thanks, my thoughts exactly. Do some old school stuff just to make it a little more fun to scoot around in, i'm not expecting big burn outs, but being to jump on the freeway a little quicker would be nice!! Far as the rallies, I had considered something new, but they are just so classic and good on the car. If I ever did take them off the Impala, Id prob put them on my 67 Camaro!

Weird, it looks like my comment didn’t post. It was probably the url I put in it. My question was, what is your AC plan? I also have a 68 impala with AC and I’m considering working with Classic Auto Air to keep my system as original as possible while going from R12 to R134a.
@CLASSICSAREBETTER
@CLASSICSAREBETTER 2 года назад
Yea sorry man, this is the only comment that I can see on this vid from you. I am honestly winging it on my AC plan, I don't think it's worked since the early 00s, but everything is there. I just need to figure out new lines and I was hoping to just charge it, but if it proves to difficult to track down some old R12 then i will prob try the R134a conversion route, just always hear that isn't much fun lol. I may need to learn from you on this one, when you working on yours?

Hey Travis! I've got a lot of catching up to do! I definitely want to follow your updates on that sexy Impala! My '68 still has all the original AC equipment, but doesn't hold a charge. I wouldn't know where to find R-12 these days. I would definitely like to learn more about the R-134a conversion, if you go that route
@CLASSICSAREBETTER

Hey buddy, glad to hear from you. I will most definitely clue you in on if I go R-12 or R-134a and how & why!

@CLASSICS ARE BETTER I forgot to mention that my father-in-law and I are working on installing aftermarket AC on a 1964 Impala SS. So far, we are still in the process of getting the compressor and brackets set up. It is a Vintage Air under-dash unit, and his car had a dealership installed unit similar to that. The car has the numbers matching 327 and powerglide setup. I think the ram horn exhaust manifolds were replaced by aftermarket. This makes it a bit challenging for the bracket setup and spacers to line the compressor up. I'll keep you posted

@@CLASSICSAREBETTERYou don't need to find R12. R134a will work just fine. You just have to update the high- and low- pressure fittings. ...I think!

@@CLASSICSAREBETTER Yep, I just checked. R12-to-R134a retrofit kits are stupid cheap. Hopefully, that, and a can or two of refrigerant/sealant/oil, will do the trick.
