In this video I will follow up on my previous upload where I showed you all about the distributor drive gear and now I will install the distributor so that it mates up with that properly installed drive gear. Thank you to John Twist of University Motors who's original video on this subject showed me the procedures. His video is here:

To set 8 deg btdc static timing, did you set the notch on the crank shaft pulley 8 deg before the needle on the Timing cover? I'm asking because you glossed over this while you were setting the static timing at the at the distributor with a static timing light. Please help me to understand this.

Yes, you are correct, I kind of did gloss over that point. If you watch my crank shaft pulley marking video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fSueI3fS-GE.html it might help clear things up but here's what you do: Set the mark on the crank shaft pulley to mid way between the middle and lowest of the 3 markings on the timing chain cover. the top marking (closest to 12O'clock) is TDC, the middle mark is 5 degrees BTDC and the 3rd mark is 10 degrees BTDC. Hope this helps.

What does that white with black line wire go to? That’s the problem I can’t figure out now.

Aha, the infamous extra white-black wire... One end goes to the negative side of the coil and the other goes to the distributor. It looks weird because both the white-black wires go into the same wire loom but it is actually one wire that just doubles back on itself inside the wire loom. I hope that makes sense. Here's a picture: photos.app.goo.gl/Zpcs8TKm5h3cPJ4s8 The blue arrow is the solid white wire that goes to the coil +, red and yellow arrows are pointing to the white-black wire. In my case the longer end of the white-black wire (yellow arrow) goes into a black sheath and then off the edge of the picture and connects to the distributor.

The red lead of the test light I attached to a constant hot and the black lead I attached to the distributor. You can see some pictures here that will show in more detail where on the distributor to attach the black wire. rivardweb.com/MGC/2020/07/29/distributor-install-setting-static-timing/
