It's all coming together nicely. I'm jealous, I won't be able to add air to my project, But there's always those wing windows. Great Video Barry. Thanks for sharing!

Impressive uncle Joe. I am watching you with absolutely no sound on my laptop. I don't know what I am going to do now. It's always something.

This and the Brooklyn Pony videos on Vintage Air installation will be helpful for me, down the line. I am going to need A/C in my Mustang. Having A/C in car driven in south Texas is as necessary as having a heater in a car driven in Iceland.

Hey Jo, I like the attention to detail. My 70 mach1 came with factory air. Previous owner removed everything under hood. I was thinking of just flushing lines under dash, replacing stuff under hood and see if it works? But you have convinced me to replace everything! Thanks.

I tried that rust reformer because I saw you using it. I tested it on several surfaces. I dont know about the long term. But it turns black no matter what you spray it on so I have a hard time believing its really doing anything

I know it has a strong odor. I assume it does something. It also says to top coat it. Maybe the combination helps.

Hey sir...Kill mat works great and ALOT cheaper than dynamat ...nice work ...I will be doing some under dash work on latest project soon so I feel you pain (back pain...lol)

I think that you had a few less issues than Wally did. One thing that bugs me about both Wally's and your unit is that it does not bring in fresh air it only circulates it.

I agree. I plan on leaving the driver's side cowl vent in place. But we still have vent windows!

Just wondering why you didn't go with a lighter color? I know its just to seal it up and you used insulation, but I would have thought lighter would help a little more with the insulation.

I would think the underside of the cowl wouldn't transfer much heat. The upper panel will get the sunlight, but there's a lot of air between the upper and lower panel. Good idea though.

Great video Barry! I’m planning to put VA in my 68 FB so this was very insightful to watch. Would you suggest installing this with the motor out?Looking forward to seeing Part 2.
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 3 года назад
It would be easier. But I think the premise is to do it with the engine in place. The only challenge is getting the firewall repainted in that area.

@@JoDaddysGarage Thanks for the advice. BTW, those door hinges you rebuilt for me are working perfectly! Car is back from paint and looks amazing! Thanks again.

Didn't you do the exact same thing on Brookly Pony? I feel I've seen before how you modified the tubings to make them fit...
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 3 года назад
Very similar. The configuration on the Pony is slightly different. The lines are on the passenger side.

I'm getting ready to paint the engine compartment on my 68 fastback that has factory air. The Vintage Air system is on order. Will the holes in the rear fender apron need to be plugged where the vacuum can is (or was) mounted on the outside of the fender apron for the original AC? Did you leave them or plug them? I'd rather do the metalwork now before paint and AC install. Thanks.
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 2 года назад
I’m pretty sure I plugged them. I don’t think anything from the new kit interacts with them.

So now that the cowl is blocked off, it no longer serves a purpose. Are you going to do a delete on the cowl intake area? I think that is what I am going to do with mine. It will eliminate the leaves and pine needles from collecting in there. After watching this I have decided to install mine while the engine is out. Great job as always!
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 3 года назад
I will leave it as is. I like the look of the cowl with the opening. I plan to leave the driver's side vent operational.

to make the pipes fit through the firewall, how come you didn't just round out the holes? it seems to me that it would take less time and less likely to damage the pipes?
@JoDaddysGarage
@JoDaddysGarage 3 года назад
I suppose you could. Pipes bend pretty easily. But where do you draw the line? What if the pipe is 1/2" off? Or 1"?

@@JoDaddysGarage I guess if it's off by a 1/4 inch is about as much as I'd go before realizing something else is likely to be a better fix
