We have had a cold start to spring also in North Carolina. I am also doing a down to the frame restoration like Les. Have tried a little of everything for rust removal. Found my favorite choice is molasses. If you are not in a rush you can't beat the results. I buy feed grade molasses by the gallon at Tractor Supply. Only drawback is the smell, put it outside where the neighbors won't catch wind of it.
Great update. Your ears were burning a few days ago as it was cold here. Guess you turned the fan back on? But winter to summer in a flash. 86 F here today. Had to turn on the A/C in the shop. Looking forward to watching the frame repairs.
Oh no! Snow on May 9! Been a slow spring for us too. Always painful having to go on a shopping spree like that, but you save so much time running around later. And if you consider the hours you will spend with those products, it's really not a bad deal at all!

Hi again Mr Chef. I've seen that you like to experiment, try soaking your small rusty parts like the trailing arm shims in plain vinegar. As long as you're not in a hurry, it will disolve the rust very well. Cheers.

I watched the original back when it first came out. The one I’m watching now was released in 2004. Still pretty good with some great actors including one from the original series....

I'm guessing Les chose the frame from the primer car to get blasted. Kind of a toss up between the two. As for your project, glad you finally were able to get supplies even though it hurts the wallet a bit. Get in to your favorite job, sand sand sand!
Yes. The primer car frame was in better shape...a little more original at least. The other one under the green car had been worked on before as you know, and the repairs that were done were quite bad.
I think so Ralph. Once I can get over the body work hurdle, things should move pretty fast. I’ve done a lot of prep work now as far as reassembly is concerned and I have a pretty good stockpile of new parts waiting to go...
Hi Mike, no you haven’t missed it...I can’t get it registered for the road because of the pandemic...once it looks like things are going to open up, I’ll start working on the bike. Honestly though, so far it’s been no big deal as it’s been too cold and crappy to even ride...I’ve only been out on the other bike once so far.
