As much as I love the Jordan U toilet paper meter, I really like that you used a DB meter and anemometer to measure these blades, it really gives a thorough comparison. I have to say that I am impressed by these modern blade sets! I expected them to be mediocre at best in terms of air performance, but they do hold their own.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Agreed! Jordan’s toilet paper meter may not show numerical readings, but I think we’ve watched plenty of his fan videos to a point where we can interpret the flapping action of the toilet paper lol. But yes, the digital readings do make more sense for a comparison video like this. I was pleasantly surprised too! I’m curious how these blades will perform on an even more powerful motor. I think the 14” and 20” blades have the potential to move a lot of air, they just need the right motor to drive them.

Please put the anemometer on a tripod to make the measurements more accurate and fair. Other than that great video. Keep them coming.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Thanks! Great feedback, it would certainly help to have the anemometer in a fixed position for even more consistency. I think the phone holder I have mounted on the tripod will be able to hold the anemometer as well. Will definitely do that in future blade test videos.

I tried doing a blade swap with one my Sears Roebuck, and it also had the slightly bigger shaft like your 16” Super.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Interesting, is your Sears a 12” or a 16” fan?
@Connectitthefancollector
@Connectitthefancollector 2 года назад
I really do like the original blades on that fan. Lots of pitch that doesn’t decrease while running due the plastic used. Reminds me of my tatung 12” blades
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Same, and that’s a great point you made. I think the plastic material is polycarbonate, which is more rigid and holds its shape under load. Also the rich blue colour of the original blades can’t be beaten lol.

These Supers are Sanyos underneath and not a bad thing. I’ve got the brown Galaxy, blue Lasko and green Sears versions of this fan (this has the older base like your 16” too). I really enjoy your comparison tests fella! Good white noise from the second set, they look slightly smaller in diameter maybe?
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Thanks! I think I remember seeing those fans on your Instagram posts. I haven’t measured the exact diameter, but I do also think the second set is just a bit smaller than the original.

Glad you liked it anyways! I was pretty bummed out when I realized that the blades weren’t going to work on the 16” Super, but at least it fit on the 12” one!

the reason i think they make them flimsy is if smth hits it it will bend and not crack like the older ones and its cheaper

Super fan man, make a Super 16 inch table fan part 4
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
That was my initial plan for this video, but I couldn’t. As explained in the video, the motor shaft on the 16” Super doesn’t fit the blades.

Not tomorrow. It’ll probably be another few weeks before I have time to make part 4. It takes a lot of time to film and edit these blade test videos. As for the 2003 Super, I no longer have that fan.

Use the 20" Toshiba air circulator next without the front grille
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
I wanted to try that fan as well, but I couldn’t take the grille off. I wasn’t sure how it was fitted together. Tried looking for screws, hidden latches and turning the grille, but that went nowhere. Also the motor shaft likely is too big for the blades.

Great comparison man! Interesting to see how well the white blades performed, even if they were rather noisy
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Thanks! I was pretty surprised too, especially considering how shallow the pitch is. I’m guessing the faster rotation due to the lower weight compensated for the pitch, so it was able to move about as much air as the original blades.

The motor noise was dramatically louder with the 3rd set! Not a nice noise
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Agreed! I think the warping of the blades caused the motor to vibrate and it resonated through the base and the table. Certainly not pleasing to the ears lol.
@superfanb5742
@superfanb5742 2 года назад
Can up maybe try the blade test with the super box fan? Or maybe not becuase the blades might be too wide and the blades may break with them spinning too. And maybe the motor is not strong enough
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan 2 года назад
Unfortunately box fans have larger motor shafts that won’t fit these blades. Box fan motors are plenty powerful, and they’ll be able to accommodate all of the blades, as the original blades is 20”. It would be a cool test if the blades did fit though.
