The second fan impeller that you tested are commonly found in box fans and over here 🇬🇧, in the ones with rotary louvre’s - and with those the impeller is mounted backwards = so you had it in the right orientation 😉
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
Right on! That would make sense, as most of those rotating louvre box fans have the motors in front of the blades. I actually mounted these blades the wrong way and filmed for a short time before noticing that it should go on the other way lol.

I'm amazed the 18 inch blade operated within spec! And the 15-blader produced some trippy camera effects on the spindown. Very nice and detailed tests as usual!
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
Thanks! Those unexpected results are what I like about these tests! I thought for sure the 18” ones would be the worst performer of them all. That 15-blader is definitely something else lol. Hardly practical but looks cool.

Although the blades 6 and up need more power in the engine to generate more air, a tremendous interesting project

The 6 blader looks certainly unique, I wonder what they would have looked like back then with the 90’s fans.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
I imagine they would have looked similar, though they likely were made of rigid plastic like polycarbonate.
@Archie.9005
@Archie.9005 Год назад
@@TheSuperFanMan They're really common here where I live, mostly used in spinning louver box fans with mostly 5 and 6 blades. The motor is actually facing backwards and the blade was supposed to cover like half the motor hence why the front side looks jagged

I couldn't even imagine how long it would take to clean a 15 wing blade it would probably take hours if not years
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
Lol I doubt it'd take that long, but it certainly would be more tedious to clean than an average fan bladeset.

That 15 blade one sounded like spinning a ruler on a fast motor

Where did you buy the 18" 5-wing metal bladeset? And how much did it cost? It seems like a pretty good bladeset as far as I can tell through the video.

I bought it on AliExpress: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804328328235.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.41.66a31802rs7HOT&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt&_randl_shipto=US It was about $3 USD, plus shipping. It definitely is a decent bladeset. I don't like that they ship it in a plastic bag though; there's a greater chance something might get damaged in transit.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
@Alexthefancollector Walker Lol looks like it did get deleted? It's not even in my spam comments box, so if you did post a comment with a link, it was probably deleted automatically. The automated comment filtering system is weird sometimes.

That 15 wing blade is out of this world lol, it’s a lot buzzier than I thought & looks ridiculous both when spinning & stationary. I’d love to know why the Chinese decided to even make it & if they even use it on fans they sell
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
I have the same thought! It's so ridiculous and impractical lol. I'm thinking they made it as a marketing gimmick. Some people must think more blades = more power. Well, I suppose that can be true to some extent, but definitely not the case when there are 15 super shallow-pitched blades.

Now make a full blade comparison test part 5 with all your weird fan blades, because it's friday 20th january 2023, test with 1999 super 12 inch desk fan

The last two blades, you moved the reflective tape out an inch or so farther than the first two. It may not be much, but it will alter the results of the test.
@TheSuperFanMan
@TheSuperFanMan Год назад
The tachometer measures how many times the reflective tape passes in front of its sensor in a certain time frame, rather than how fast it passes. So the location of the tape on the radius doesn’t matter, as the RPM of the blades is the same. If I was measuring the angular velocity at a certain point on the blades, then yes, the placement of the tape would indeed matter.

that 15 wings Blade looks similar to Aviation Engine like older Airbus A320s and A321s CFM56, Pratt & Whitney PW4000s, that using of Boeing 767s and Boeing 747-400s including oldest P&W JT9D engines that is used for Boeing 747-100s, Boeing 747-200s, and Boeing 747-300s. As well GE CF6 Engine that is use for Airbus A330s and current Boeing 747-400s and 747Fs, looks Familiar of 15 wings Blade!
