I am 82 now. My parents took me to my 1st game at the Baseball ground when I was 8yrs old It is heart warming to watch this amazing team beating the Arsenal
The best team Derby county ever had thanks to Brian Clough and Peter Taylor and not forgetting the great Dave McKay. I was so blessed to be a football mad teenage boy who got to see these truly wonderful players rule the top flight of the English football league for more than half a decade. The first season derby county were promoted to the English first division they hammered all the top clubs of the day 3 4 and 5 nothing. The team and management were all one big happy family and the baseball ground was were it happened. The team of such quality and fair play never to be found again. Thank you all for such wonderful times.
I remember this horrible week as an Arsenal fan- after this match Arsenal lost at home 3-0 to Norwich City in the league cup after a Graham Paddon hatrick. Still finished 2nd to Liverpool in the league that season although losing to Sunderland in the FA cup semis was rough.
What a team!!!!!! Many of the finest players in one super team humiliating Arsenal and giving them an example of how to score. Hinton was the greatest dead ball, specialist. He made nearly all five goals. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍💪💪💪💪💪
Gladys where’s your handbag? Shame most Derby fan didn’t appreciate how good he was till he left. Would love to see a vid of his testimonial, atmosphere was phenomenal 😀
Hugh Johns' broadcasting made everything wonderful. I always looked forward to the games that he was on. This game in particular. Brian Cluogh teams always played great, and as tough as they were they always played within the rules and fair. He would not have tolerated unsportsmanship from his teams. RIP to Great Hugh Johns and the Great Brian Clough and Peter Taylor.
Hinton outstanding in the superb league winning team of Clough and Taylor. He won 3 England caps between 1962-4, but on that form maybe he should have won more. Reigning double winners Arsenal defence and Wilson at sixes and sevens.
Used to support derby as a very young boy for some reason even though I’m from Essex!!! Changed my allegiance to West Ham at 8 years old, but still have a soft spot for the rams.
@@matthewturner2803 all the boys were West Ham supporters in my class at junior school. When West Ham were in the 1975 fa cup against Fulham there was a big buzz in the school and I decided to change. Just a glory seeker I’m afraid, if only I knew what the future held😂😂😂😂
I think he was one of the first players to wear coloured boots, if you count White as a colour! Only problem was that with the state of the pitch you could not always tell what colour they were!
What a game I was there, I remember seeing a female Arsenal fan crying outside saying ' we won the double last year, I cannot believe this has happened!'
if they counted assists in those days how many would Alan Hinton create in a season ? more real ones than the fantasy figures given out for today's players.
Went to see my sheffield utd team at baseball ground I was about 16 lost 3 0 in fa cup we had tony Currie in our side. No answer to this great derby team. I also got lost after game trying to find my coach. Bumped into the derby fans and ended up with a black eye. But it was a great day out even though we lost and I got a punch in the eye. Up the blades.
Wilson is on record for saying the proudest moment in his footballing career was keeping goal for Scotland. That he truly wished he was in West Germany and Argentina as our star keeper.
@@Kelly14UK I think it was his only chance of international football. England were strong in that position Banks, Bonetti, West. Shelton and Corrigan were coming through. The rule change worked well for him. Although I never thought I'd see the day when Scotland had a player whose middle name was primrose
Derby had a great side.I'm Arsenal supporter and remember watching this.Alan Hinton what a fantastic player.Just wondering did he ever get picked for England? Thanks for the painful memory Ha Ha.Cheers Jim
I was there to see that match ,that was "The" Derby County, you don't see them play like that these days, if they took a leaf out that team of yesterday Derby wouldn't be in League One, they do there best I know but they just don't have that final punch.
I was there. Wonderful 70s footy. With mud too. Mud is rare nowadays at football. Mud, mud, glorious mud.. bring back the mud, just grass & mud. No plastic. Ban it.
Was this the game where Bob Wilson said "Who are Derby County I don't know them." Cloughie's reply after the game was " I bet Wilson knows who bloody Derby County are now "......
for the first 40 seconds of the video, i thought it was Arsenal that going to blast 5 goals against Derby when Charlie George got 2 glaring chances to score
+dsk71 The commentator was Huw Johns, who usually did the Midlands clubs as ITV was regionalised (would have been ATV then, I think). A very distinctive voice: 'One-nudding-Birmingham Siddy'.
