A bit of a change of pace here with a Police cruiser. But not just any modern one, this is my first Dodge Monaco. I actually wanted a plain 'ol Monaco but found this one at a decent price and decided to bite on it.
Although box mentions the Ertl name, it seems Auto World actually released this revision! But as we know by now, AW has the Ertl tooling so... same thing. Anyway color palette registered my attention. That coupled with the fact that I wanted a Monaco in the collection (and price), decided to bite.
How did this one fared?

We almost had a 76 Royal Monaco in the family. My dad was seriously considering buying his friend's car back then. Unfortunately dad's friend took it moose hunting. Was a terrible trip as he didn't see a moose the whole time. Except for the one he hit with the Dodge on the way home. To add insult to injury, the Surete du Quebec wouldn't let him keep the moose. Poor Dodge was totalled. Good review as always. I have the Nevada Highway Patrol version. It looks great in dark blue with silver roof.

Oh wow!! That's a tragic end for the car (and moose lol). Thanks. Will have to look for pictures/video of that dark blue version!!

Colors really pop and I'm a fan of tan interiors. Would have loved for it to have had a bit more QA but for being an older casting, still looks good! Thanks!

Auto world is really nice. I personally like their movie cars. I think auto world has a good detail to Price ratio

I think they are great because a lot of them are based off the old authentic molds. That basically became highway 61 as we know it today. American muscle actually kind of started GMP as well. GMP used to be peach state. And they were all originally under American muscle.ertl Was kind of the predecessor to all of the brands we know now I think it's safe to say without Then we would not have a lot of the brands we do now. Under the acme umbrella. When greenlight first started, they were kind of an offshoot of Johnny Lightning. Which was basically under.ertl After playing, mantis stopped. And then round 2 got ahold of Johnny lightning. Of course, round 2 became a separate subsidiary. And kept quite a few of their brands. Acme does remain separate. As they are the distributor. Since you Have some GMP. I just figured I would let you know. Super car collector bowls also started underneath of them. Originally the Fast & Furious Camaro. The boat jumped car. Was originally erasing champions authentics. Or elite The Sam Posey challenger that I own. That is under acme. What's the diecast promotions piece at One Time frame The boogie Van is also an acme piece. Although originally highway 61. So basically, American muscle, some of their stuff. Changed hands to GMP. I personally do prefer acne to American muscle. But I like auto world for the movie stuff. Since they did retain a lot of the joyride castings. I just wish they would do night rider. That car has gotten super expensive now

What a cool miniature, it has some details that could be better like the hinges on the front doors and the hood, I keep imagining this car in the Authentics line. One more like!

Yeah. This being an Authentics would have been awesome. Still, for a "normal" release, it's quite good. Thanks!!

Actually the engine block looks weird if you compare with the real one. Unlike the other AW/ertl models, only monaco comes with weird engine block. But the rest is awesome, especially the 4 door feature and front/rear end.

I just love that it's a different feel more in tune with the color palette of the car lol. But it is indeed quite nice overall. Seems a final grade is not in the video but I'd give it a B-

You just gotta love american cop cars unless you're riding in the back seat. The simple seats and no carpeting might be there for a reason? I think US taxis are like that too? Back seat passangers are sometimes leaving fluids like blood, saliva and worse behind and it needs to be easily cleaned out by some unlucky new cop guy and I think they just use a water hose because it's fast, effective and you don’t have to touch anything. Anyway it's a typical 70s ride and I like it for that. Dodge Monaco is not the most exciting car ever, but it looks both oldschool and american and that's enough for me. The 60s and 70s in the USA are the best era for me. The Oil Crysis sucked and forever changed the world of cars, but the designs are forever beautiful. For me personally is more impressive when someone pulls up in a '74 Monaco than in a 2023 Ferrari. Especially in a cop Monaco!! Driving around with the sirens on 🚨 and lookin' cool while doing so.

Yeah! I don't mind the car not having carpeting (I think just like you, cop cars/taxis, yeah, carpeting would be yuck) but the fact that the box mentioned it was what kind of threw me off lol. And totally agree, 60/70s design too good!!
