The main components of the engine are put together, but there are many little details that need to be installed and timed. Like timing cover along with the tensioner, the drive gear and last but not least the valves need to be adjusted.

Elin, if you fabricate an adapter, you can mount an engine (especially an in-line) on the engine stand by the engine mount pad on the side of the block and have access to both ends of the engine. Also. it may be too late but there are good places to add gusset plates to the chassis, mainly around the suspension mounts. These are used mostly by race builders but the stiffness and additional strength are useful to street cars as well. The funny shape of the front sway bar u-bolts come from running into a curb or parking lot stop. Also, the condition of the bumper mount holes on the left rear wing and the left rear valence come from a minor "bump" sometime in the car's past history. You do great work on the bodywork, something I always disliked and left to the pros. I used to wrench on a Mk II Spit SCCA race car (G Production) and worked during the week for Nissan/Datsun dealers.

Nice work Elin.. At 72, my tappets have run out of adjustment, so I tend to rattle a bit. But the better half tells me I'm still firing on four.. Bit worrying as I thought I had six.

Yeah, don't neglect to replace the tensioner, mine broke on my TR4 and cut a notch through the cover.

Mainly Moss Mototrs, but there are a lot more - The Roadster Factory, Rimmers Bros if you are in the UK...

Elin the gasket(s) will compress a bit when the pedestal is tightened, so should you go slightly higher than the measurement you take? Or is it close enough?
