J.R Richard right off the bat, nice card - he was as good - if not better than Nolan Ryan but a stroke cut his career short in 1979. He's one of those fantastic players that people just forgot about over time, he certainly would have been a Hall of Famer had he kept his pace and played into the late 80's or early 90's... He's certainly a "star" in my book and when I find him he goes in the star pile.. I find his cards mixed in with commons and whenever I'm at a show and someone has commons from the 70's I'm always pulling J.R. Richard, Lyman Bostock & Mark "The Bird" Fidrych, because no one cares or even remembers those guys and it's sad, especially Bostock who was murdered in 1978 after a game against the White Sox a couple of days after his 27th birthday... At the time of his murder he was one of the premier stars of the game... All three could be potential HOF'ers..

Thanks for mentioning Fidrych, that 1977 card of him as both an All-Star and a Topps All-Star rookie, as a ten-year-old in Detroit at the time was pure gold! Man was he something. I just recently was able to hear an old WJR radio broadcast with Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey of a game in 1977, which reminded me of one of those quirks Fidrych was so noted for that I think a lot of people forgot about. He wasn't pitching this particular game, but you can hear this loud-mouthed guy yelling almost constantly through the whole game, and of course it was Fidrych. Ernie confirmed it by noting his constant chirping! Good old Ernie! Who does that, ever?? He sat on the corner of the dugout any time he wasn't pitching, and just yelled encouragement to his team all game long!

@@johnboehmer6683 Wow, I made that comment many moons ago, lol.... I love "The Bird".... Actually I collect all eccentric players or even guys that were fantastic but had short careers ..... It's fascinating....

@@Swoop187OG187 yeah, I guess some comments are classics, and just get better with time, drawing more attention! Very cool, take care.

Too bad on that Ryan. It also looks to be tilted a bit too. It looks like throughout these videos you have some decently centered cards here and there. I would look over those very closely. 75 seems to have been a very bad year for centering of the cards to me. Good luck should you decide to grade any. Maybe you can make a video of what you may think is worth sending in.
